Or just not want children. I think my MIL asked me once, and indirectly through my husband-she seems to respect it (10 years together, 4.5 married). She just refuses to call our pets furbabies, which is fine by me since I don’t refer to them like that either. Meanwhile my mom got two kids out of my older sister, so I was off the hook on that front.
My MIL dropped my daughter off home after she'd been at nursery and apparently made a new friend, she said "[daughter] has a new boyfriend, called [boy]" like, no. She's 2, she doesn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, she has no comprehension of what a boyfriend or girlfriend even is. I made a point to ask my daughter if she'd made a new FRIEND today. Last time my daughter made a new friend, a girl, no one made a comment about how she had a girlfriend. Sorry, not sorry, I'm not pushing cis-het normativity on any of my children. Until the moment my child explicitly says they are dating someone, I will not be insinuating that their relationship is anything more than platonic.
THIS!! I got so tired of hearing my parents poke at me about a boy I would be friends with, even after repeatedly explaining I didn't like boys that way and just found them easier to be friends with. Girls my age at the time were always dramatic and obsessed with cute boys and Lululemon. I couldn't get along with them. But I _never_ heard the teasing or ceaseless interrogation when I talked about girls that I usually received when I talked about guys.
When I told my parents I was demian (demisexual + demiromantic, which is on the aroace spectrum), they were disappointed that I wasn't a breeding creature that hyperfixated on some lame ass guys my age. When I finally DID get into a committed relationship with an older man after developing an extremely close emotional bond and deciding I wanted to be with him, they shunned me for a long time and are only just now warming up to him. You can never please these cishets, I swear.

This is legitimately why I only use semi-permanent/implantable BC like the IUD/Implant.
I’m aware not everyone has this option (I for one have tried every type of BC pill and had every side effect).
After SA I just don’t feel like I can take that ‘chance’ of missing a pill, forgetting or not being able to afford it - I have disabilities that make any pregnancy high risk and my mental health and financial situation is in no way suitable to be dealing with even the possibility of pregnancy in that situation.

Right? Totally agree with that. My partners will drop the subject IMMEDIATELY if I just tell them "sorry, I'm just not in the mood right now". We'll usually just find another way to be close, like cuddle on the couch or play a game together. People should feel safe telling their partners the truth.

My wife and I are sapphics, and sometimes we wonder if we're doing marriage wrong because we don't hate each other. She's always thrilled to come home to me after work, and I'm always there to give her a hug and a kiss. As a bisexual female who have only been in straight relationships so far, i have heard this soooo often... I didn't realize that i might be asexual, before i met my now partner, who is so nice, sweet and respectful especially around sex, he doesn't demand, he just asks, and he understands that a headache for me only gets worse if i have to scoot around in a bed or whatever.
Saying no have been something he had to teach me, that i was in fact allowed to say "no" or "not today I'm feeling bad" or perhaps "hey i would like to try later but no promise"..
Trauma is not for fun. No means no. If they start coming up with excuses to get out of a situation, you should seriously think about why they feel like they need an excuse to say no..

That's not just an affair, that's rape. Is one person uninformed about the lack of birth control? Raaaaape.

Cis-het woman here. I do not shave my legs. Not only do I wear jeans 99.9999% of the waking hours, I have very sparce and fine leg hair. If anyone is that close to notice, they are either invited, or about to be kicked in the head.

I'm growing out my leg hair. If it's too embarrassing, I'll do like our great grandmas and wear stockings or knee high socks. It just feels weird to think I haven't seen what my real legs look like since I was 12...
I'm mixed, on the light side, but with dark hair. I don't shave either. I like being able to feel wind on my legs. I only shave sometimes if I wanna look extra pretty for a part or smt, but almost no other time.

My experience as well. I thought I was an OK (cis) straight, now I'm questioning if I'm bigender, which would complicate my orientation. (Technically, I'd be both straight and gay.)
It's just a little bit disheartening to me because it gives me a feeling that there can't be any OK straights because those that are OK inevitably turn out to not be straight (and/or not cis). (I know that's not true, but my brain doesn't care about that.)

I've always found the "my daughter can't date anyone" trope to be so funny. I always thought it was a rule for every girl, and I was always wondering "If the girls can't date, who are the boys supposed to date?" And even before I knew what being gay even was, I assumed every time a guy who still lived with their parents said that they were dating someone, they were dating another guy cause girls couldn't date.

Seeing gay people being happily married ruins their idea that the marrage is the problem. If being married isn't the problem, then they must be the problem and they can't handle that idea.

I remember once saying that talking about toxic masculinity isn't attacking all masculinity, and one dude was like "name one masculine trait that isn't toxic." I named several (I can't remember them all but "loyalty," "calm," and something like "camraderie/companionship/brotherhood" were in there). He claimed all the traits I named were feminine.

The other day at work I flinched and cringed because this poor man was at our service desk (I’m a cashier at a grocery store) resolving an issue and his wife loudly said “never send a man to do anything! Hahaha”.. another woman joined in. The poor guy was just solemnly going about his business as they went back and forth about all the stuff they don’t trust their husbands with. The irony was that the issue wasn’t even his fault.. it was a glitch in our system.

The other day I went to church with my mom. And I read this thing on one of the commandments,the not say Gods name in vain and it came with the explanation *not use religion or God as a justification for unjust or cruel actions* so... Literally everyone who uses religion to hate queer people are quite literally violating a commandment...

I was in the gyno surgeon's office one day to ask for a hysterectomy. She asked me about my sex life, and I said I wasn't sexually active. Then she went out of the room for a minute, and her assistant, an older woman, said to me conspiratorially, "I don't blame you. All men are bums." I didn't say this, but I wanted to: "I'm Ace, but thanks." Plus, I couldn't have had romantic feelings for men? Or women? Or enby people? I mean, I'm not SEXUALLY active or attracted to anyone, but I'm romantically attracted to any and all genders. I didn't know the term "cake and cuddles" at the time, but that's where I was at during that time in my life. It was just a bit weird and I didn't know why she'd say that. I guess a man/men hurt her?
And of course since I was still menstruating and could *technically* get pregnant (at 48), the surgeon lied about HRT and said she wouldn't do it. So I kept getting Depo-Provera shots every 3 months, and that puts you at a higher risk of strokes and heart attacks. But gob forbid they take away my "option" of having babies. Ugh.
Ugh. I thankfully managed to find a doctor who would give me one in my 20s, but I had so many doctors who just learned of my wish to get one and was told it would never happen until I was at least 35 with 2 kids. One even asked me "But what about what your future husband wants?" while I was literally holding my girlfriend's hand. He knew we were a couple, not sure if he knew she's a woman (she's also trans and can't do anything medical atm), but because she was supporting me he assumed I'd eventually find a "real man". The doc who evicted my uterus asked me if I might be interested in a hysterectomy one day after I said I was trans (well and after explaining what non-binary is, which she just accepted). She even agreed to stop asking me about sexual activity if I promised to tell her if it changed. And she held to that.
The conflation by adults of youth and attractiveness will never not be creepy to me.

They hate that there is a word to define "not transgender" because they feel like for once they are not considered "the norm". They are not an affirmative, they are "not X". Putting emphasize on something else than they are makes them feel less important becase they are entitled to feel like they are the main thing everytime.
The others should be defined with a word, they don't need it because they think they are the blank canvas of what a human should be and the others are deviating from this standard.

I, as a trans man, have a lot of trouble personally with letting myself do "feminine" things in public, but today in my English class I wrote a stupid little few paragraphs romance story and read it out to the class. I love writing romance, cause I'm good at it, and gender roles stifle people's creativity by putting them into tiny weird boxes.

I'm a cis Woman in my mid 20s and I've Def been on the tomboy side in my teens. I've gone into a very male dominated major and will start working as a mechanic soon and it gives me some major gender Euphoria lol. Somewhere along my finding myself and figuring out my gender journey I found myself comfortable doing whatever feels good. Can't wait to turn up in a frilly dress when appropriate lol

To answer your question, "Country Boys" is the American stereotype of a rural cowboy/farmboy type who rides big pickup trucks and are stereotypically pretty masculine. Funnily enough, country music tends to be very dude-bro-y in that women get objectified in it a looooot by those masculine country boys. It's... unfortunately a whole thing.

The "I hate my wife" trope is been around for so long and yet in our days when women are not that enthusiastic about marriage, the same men are getting upset that they can't get wives.
I met two men in the park recently, I got talking to them because they likes my dog. They explained they'd both gotten married (to women) had their first kids, bought homes and got dogs and bonded over the fact it all made them miserable. It felt like I was being recruited into a gang or something, they kept trying to get me to join in with the misery fest but I like my partner, kid, home and dog and I have chronic depression and anxiety, I don't need friends that bond over hating their privilege.
Speaking as a cis gender straight woman, I don't consider "cis" to be a slur. Also, I'm not ok. I've never been ok, but at least I'm not a climate change denying bigot. I like being married, and now I'm REALLY wishing pride jam was a real thing. 😂

I finished school and after two years I came back to visit the school again out of nostalgia. My teacher recognized me and we had a little talk about the old times. She asked me how it went with Daniel and Luke (the twins). I didn't understand what she meant, until she said:" I thought you three were in a relationship or had something else going on together". I was shocked and told her that I have in fact a girlfriend, and there was never anything but friendship between Luke, Daniel and me. She smiled weirdly at me and told me, that she doesn't believe me. I escaped the situation as fast as I could, cause it was degrading, awkward and just WRONG wtf...
And then I remembered that she always had made these weird comments towards us like:" aaw you are so cute together", "I think you will be dating as adults" bla bla bla (and we always felt uncomfortable about it but we thought it was weird but normal adult behavior...).

Hey- you didn't ask for help with your foot cramp, but as a 32 year old who had really bad ones during my recent pregnancy, I found topical magnesium cream helpful at reducing the frequency and severity. The cream itself feels icky to me and it will make any skin abrasions sting, but it did help.
Also, returning exactly to pre-pregnancy shape is a ridiculous goal IMHO.
We should be more educated on what pregnancy does to a body...
@@elaineb7065 Absolutely. Pregnancy is bizarre and mundane at the same time. Around half of us have the potential to experience it, and yet no two pregnancies are the same. It is stunning what kinds of changes can be normal in pregnancy. So many things can happen that pregnancy books don't even cover it all.
But also we should be more educated on our bodies in general. It is amazing the kind of things that people don't know.
If I remember rightly from law school swapping contraceptive pills for sugar pills would be an offense as its an offense to obtain sex on false pretences under the Sexual Offenses Act.
Granted this may not be the case in all jurisdictions and we didn't cover this in depth on the GDL but that might be the case.

When my niece was a toddler, she pulled a sticker off an old craft project and when I told her we could fix it she said "Papa will fix it, because he's a boy". My mom was very active during her pregnancy with one of my sisters, to the point where she actually weighed less after giving birth than she had pre-pregnancy. Her mom told her like a week after she gave birth that she needed to lose weight, which blew my mind to hear because my grandmother gave birth six times and should know from experience that's not how the post partum period works, and isn't an appropriate thing to say to someone recovering from pregnancy and birthing.

Switching or tampering with birth control is sexual assault. At least here in Australia. It is covered under the the definitions of consent where consent must fully informed and freely given. If someone has an expectation that they are protected from pregnancy when they have sex with you and you've tampered with this, the consent obtained is considered fraudulent and therefore void. This works both ways and also applies to failure to disclose an STI. Having said that, SA conviction rates are pretty shockingly bad so it's less likely that this behaviour would lead to an actual criminal conviction.

As an AFAB autistic person, in elementary school, my only friends were guys for years (my interests were dinosaurs and video games - most of the girls I was around didn’t like/weren’t exposed to those things yet).
My mom put so much pressure on me, saying she “knew” I was gonna marry one of them. *I was five*
The worst part is, I internalized all that pressure and was terrified that suddenly my male friends were going to like me in that way or try to kiss me when, while I loved them a lot *as friends* , I did NOT want anything romantic from them. Worse yet, if they did that, it would mean they never really saw me as an equal/just a person (or that’s how it felt at the time). And of course I was WAY too scared to talk to them about it. My mom and this kind of sexualization of children is the reason I lost my first best friend.

Gender dysphoria is a pain; it's been causing such severe depression that it's been affecting my daily life, because I end up losing the motivation to do my classwork. Even worse, I'm a trans kid in Texas, where gender affirming care is illegal for minors, so I can't receive any effective treatment for a bit over a year. I honestly don't know if I can hold on long enough though... It's difficult to keep hanging on...

Regarding all of the "I don't really want to be married" straights like the "HELP" guy... I do wonder how many (mostly straight) people just get married because they think it's the only way to "level up" and not because it's what they actually want to do. Like, peer pressure, family pressure, societal expectations.
And as a corollary, I wonder how many of THOSE people's anger at people trying to do their own thing is just them projecting their own regret onto the world. Cis straight married dude here. I totally agree. No it's not too early for kids to know about lgbt+ relationships. If they are they are too young to hear about relationships in general. My wife and i have two kids. My bil is gay and they see him kissing his boyfriend as much as they see their mom and i kiss. They see no difference. Cause there is no difference. Well tbh our youngest kid goes eww when he sees 2 adults kiss no matter what their sexuality is but that's another story 😂

Absolutely! If they're old enough to ask, IMO they're old enough to get a true (age-appropriate) answer. If their family doesn't teach them they'll find out from peers, teachers, other adults they trust, or the internet... and those other sources might get important things wrong or traumatize the kid with graphic explanations, images, or videos.
I just got into it with a therapist doing this mental health class who insisted that households without a father, including same sex couples with kids were worse for the child than male/female parent households. I left feeling worse than when I got in... I just had to vent somewhere...
I had to do a research paper once on same sex couples adopting & the studies from the time showed the exact opposite of the nonsense that person was pushing. That was in the 90s! We’ve known for a long time that stability and love are the key in kids outcomes - not their parents’ gender.

Philosophically it does work, through general principles like kindness and empathy, but it is self focused and requires that extra context to account for diversity.
I've come to really appreciate "treat others as they would like to be treated."
It insists on building an understanding of what another person wants, rather than enabling you to assume everyone has the same experience.
I think, in literal terms, most homophobes and transphobes are treating people how they think they themselves should be treated in the same situation.

When I was in South Africa, there was a rumour going around that I was a trans woman (I'm actually a cis woman, male expressing lesbian), because I had hair on my legs and short hair, so I obviously had to have been a boy once. 🙈😂
Watching this to help with my anxiety, lol. I'm moving out with my boyfriend, we're both trans guys but he's medically transitioning and I'm not. We're also both disabled. I'm scared that it'll be hard to find a place for us cus we've never had a house before so we have no history. And we're both LGBT+ and disabled. We currently have four options that I'm going to email today. And a few backup options too. I'm excited, but scared- haha. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to turn us away because of disability or LGBT+ but I'm still scared. But we're doing this together! We'll get through it! And I'm watching my favourite youtubers to help with my anxiety while I'm emailing people- lol.

If you don't love your partner for who they are, then you don't love them. I feel like a lot of the straight "humor" is just a cry for help from the unhappy who married wrong and have some aversion/reason not to divorce that they should get over. Someone saying they hate their wife is someone who shouldn't be married anymore.
I actually can just barely stand content like this. Jamie makes it bearable, but I can't think about it for too long or I get stuck in a mind hole. I find it deeply offensive that humans have such a profound, visceral capacity for genuine love and there are people who are wasting others time in these truthfully pitiful excuses for meaningful emotional connections. The bond between people can be so beautiful, again I just find it so deeply offensive someone who treats their partner in such a manner could ever claim to love them. In my opinion, there is complete and incomplete types of love. An incomplete type of love would be a love that isn't based in respect, but just in how you feel and your attraction. A complete, true love has a strong foundation of respect. I think after some time of mulling this idea around, you can clearly see the divide in people who treat their partner with respect in every situation and truly love them, and those who don't have that.
In relation to the first post, my dad used to “jokingly” say “you can’t date until you’re 30 and you can’t get married until I’m dead”. He was not happy when I had my first date in high school. SHOCKER I cut him off a little while after that (for so many reasons). Too bad I moved in with a guy at 26, DAD!
