Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture Tsurugi Cityscape Highlights Guide

The following is an excerpt of the "History of Tsurugi" from the "Hakusan City Tsurugi Town Walking Map" published by the Hakusan City Tourism Federation.
　
Tsurugi is a monzen town that has been around for more than a thousand years. In the past, it was written as 剱 and flourished together with the god Jin Yagu. It is also the home of the main shrine of Shirayama Shrine and Shirayama Higa Shrine, and is a town with deep traditions.
The city area of Hakusan extends in the basin of the Tedori River, which flows from Mt. Hakusan and flows into the Sea of Japan. Tsurugi is a town located just in the key part of the beautiful fan-shaped land. Since before the Warring States period, goods from the foothills and plains of the mountains have gathered here, and it has been bustling as a town where the city stands. In the Edo period, it is also recorded that the lord of the Kaga domain, Prince Maeda, visited Shirayama on the Shirayama pilgrimage through the Tsurugi Highway leading from Kanazawa.
Tsurugi is also known as the "town of fermentation". You can enjoy a stroll while enjoying the atmosphere of old sake breweries, soy sauce shops, and sushi shops.
