  • Season after season, extreme weather bombards the continental United States. Over the next 83 years, its cascading effects will force U.S. residents inward, upward, and away from newly uninhabitable areas. But don’t worry: We’ve mapped out how these factors will alter the country’s landscape in 2100.

    I've ben saying this for years. I'm from Michigan. The state is camped out on the worlds largest supply of freshwater. I'm not a betting man but I would wager everything I have that there will be mass climate migration to the midwest within the next 25-ish years.

    As a lifelong Michigander who’s trying to leave the state, I find this video biased and frustrating. We’ve certainly got problems that will be exacerbated by climate change. Those disease-ridden misquitos? Will DEFINITELY reach the Great Lakes during summer. Rising waters? The entire state is a peninsula and people are already having to arrange moving out of their homes and away from the Lake Michigan shoreline because of increased erosion. I used to own a home near the lake and now a nearby street which parallels the lake is a walking path because the rest of that unpaved road fell off a cliff. The roads??? Don’t even get me started. The climate makes our roads deteriorate crazy fast. Typically within five years many roads deteriorate to the point where they need to be paved again. We’re also going to experience worsening winter weather, infrastructure problems like natural gas, power, and water management (i.e. 2019 polar vortex) and severe storms. This isn’t the “climate haven” people make it out to be. Maybe it’s more habitable compared to the rest of the country but probably not by a longshot.

  • @raymondramirez9177
    @raymondramirez9177 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If homes were built with steel and concrete instead of wood and other light materials, they will survive hurricanes and tornadoes. So that reduces the number of affected areas. I live in Puerto Rico, my home is a two-story concrete and steel structure with aluminum windows and doors, flooding doesn't affect me, and I have survived many hurricanes since 1977, including Irma and Maria in 2017. I can also collect enough rain water to survive any droughts. I never get snowed or hit by tornadoes.
    So move south east to Puerto Rico before 2100!
    BTW, my skin is so thick that mosquitoes cannot "bite" me (actually they don't "bite").

    The problem is that there is no increase in hurricanes reaching landfall or in their intensity as more than a dozen studies have shown. Michigan is beautiful but as the Maunder Minimum effects add up, it will be too cold in Michigan to get into those lakes. Detroit in 2100. What will it look like then compared to now? Detroit now is better off than it was 10 years ago so it will probably be a good place to live in by 2100

    Did you note that the best places to live free from the worst climate changes is in areas adjacent to the Canadian border? You know that there is a whole country larger than the US on the other side of that border and it will be spared the worst that Mother Nature is likely to throw at North America! I'm just reminding you in case Michigan gets too stressed from overcrowding.

    Come on kiddies, if you are serious about reversing this, then please ffs learn about nuclear energy...the only readily deployable zero carbon source there is that can meet the need fast enough.

    Well, forgot that the Northeast seems to be getting a lot more snow during winter, so I don't think it'd be the ideal place for human beings.

      Get a life fil..... Jesus was here 2018 years ago. That is when one was trying to change ones mind into the real Christan belief mind. The Lord is above us and will always be above us. The Lord Jesus is our superior commander and will always tell us what to do. Accept that fact. ..
