Exploring CSX And More In Western NY /North East PA Day Trip - Great Railroad History! (August 2024)

On Saturday, 8/24/2024, a few friends and I did a day trip to the Buffalo and North East, PA area. We started out by exploring Buffalo’s Frontier Yard along with the old New York Central Railroad Buffalo Central Terminal which was a staple to the railroad and now sits alongside the CSX mainline. After that, we drove out to the Lakeshore Railway Museum in North East, PA where we walked around the equipment sitting outside and watched a few CSX trains pass by. We were only there for an hour but it was well worth the visit and I will definitely be back. After that, we visited the Buffalo and Southern Railway in Hamburg, NY and saw some of their old equipment along with a PRR steam engine also which was quite neat to see. After that, we went back to Buffalo and got dinner and saw some trains at the famous CP DRAW and Tift Street bridges. To finish off the day, we made a brief stop in Fairport also to explore the railfan platform. Overall a great day of exploring the area!
