      @@healthyvoicetips actually I have one question... while doing the La's and gla's..... is it normal for the larynx to move up as you go higher on the notes? I mean if I not holding my jaw in place I notice that my larynx wants to move up... and the sometimes it feels like it's not.

    I will never think of my tongue the same again. She sure works hard...and all the way down to the larynx eh! WOW! I'm going to do these...to tame my tense tongue! You could really tell the difference when you did it! I got my jaw not to move ... very cool... brilliant videos! .. Your ending had me giggling! I can't wait for the one on the jaw. I have a tense jaw... I bet my jaw will like it! Like my tongue liked this one!! (I think my jaw did too!) ~Elizabeth

    How singers divide there tongue in a partition a line becomes when they sing

  • @JO-tw5yd

    Can you demonstrate these while singing so we can actually see what you are trying to say

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I demonstrated all of the exercises in the video. These are vocal exercises that you do before singing your repertoire, you do not use these exercises while singing your songs. You just practice them on scales and arpeggios. You are re-training the tongue to move independently from the rest of the vocal tract, which will then translate to singing of song. But it takes regular practice.

    • @JO-tw5yd
      @JO-tw5yd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I meant was not the exercises but the bad habits. So we can see what you are talking about in terms of mistakes.

    Hello. Can you tell me that where does your tongue rest when you're not speaking/singing?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The healthy resting tongue posture is when the tongue tip is up behind your upper teeth and the back of the tongue is also slightly up. The lips are closed but the teeth are not clenched. The sides of the tongue are touching the upper teeth at the back. Is this information helpful?

    I never knew that the taunge plays such a key role while singing.Recently I am feeling my voice so strained when singing high notes and even it is cracking & I feel short of breath.Is it because of my taunge being tight or heavy ?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tongue is a big part of singing and talking. It may cause strain. But there are many other things that can cause strain, including inefficient breathing.

    I’ve heard tounge tension can cause the suprahyoid and hyoid bones to be tense and tight. Is this true?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not the hyoid bone but the muscles around it, such as suprahyoids. Yes, it is all connected and unwanted tension from one area can affect other areas.

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question! If you can do that simultaneously, then yes. If it interferes with the movement of the tongue, then just practice the tongue movement independently.
