It was only the last 3 years (he tried out 2 teams before them) that he started to come out of the darkness and become a teacher. Like he said, he has found new comrades to help fill the void.

you people are really arguing about who have rights in being sad? The way i see every pain is hard to handle for those carrying it. For me kakashi history is about someone who had everything, family, talent, love... and lost not only by the war or other people but also by him, that is why he's not like sasuke, he knows that he is not a victim, a good guy. Sasuke in the other hand have someone to blame, sasuke see himself as a victim. I mean he wasn’t really the best teacher, yes he saw his old team within team 7 and yes he viewed Sasuke as himself, but it all pretty much fell apart after the chunin exams where Naruto was being trained by Jiraiya Sakura was being trained by Tsunade and Sasuke ran off to train with orochimaru, yes he could empathize with Sasuke but he gave him too much attention and his whole team went their separate ways like his team with obito did

You could very easily say hiruzen personally selected Kakashi to lead team 7 as he saw them as similar to kakashi’s old team. Hiruzen could simply have reasoned that Kakashi wouldn’t let history repeat itself if he was the team’s leader. That unfortunately wasn’t the case.

Out of all the scenes in naruto this is the only scene which I can relate too on a personal level. Sasuke is angry because he believes no one else has experienced pain like he has.
I truly felt that in my heart no one else has been through the pain that I have and that made me feel alone.
I hate it when people criticise me for choices I made and they forget about the pain I was put through as a child.

Remember your childhood when you used to watch Naruto on tv and thought Kakashi was so like such a cool guy and even in this scene. Because you didn't knew back then was pain he went through. We didn't knew about Obito and Rin or his dead. We just thought he is cool but now we know how sad this scene actually is.

Kakashi had the saddest backstory in the whole anime and didn't complain once. Anyone who experienced what he did would've gone evil. And yet he still smiles. What a chad.

Sasuke had someone to blame. Someone that was, seemingly, responsible for him losing every single person that he loved. Not only, but it was the person who he loved most that did it.
Kakashi, on the other hand, likely blames himself. He internalises all his pain and takes it out on himself. At times (pre-anbu and anbu time), it seems like he only allows himself to be a tool for the village.
What they should blame is the warlike and corrupt society that is to blame for it all. And Danzo. Mostly just Danzo.
