Like you, I've watched quite a few Mrs Quilty reviews, and I have to give them credit where credit is due. Those reviews had a lot of complaints/criticisms which don't seem to apply to this box, so kudos to them for taking that feedback and improving the box considerably. While the total number of fat quarters has decreased (from 16 to 12), the quality appears to have increased, and I like that each piece is unique rather than their previous "two pieces each of eight different prints" offering. Personally I'd rather have 12 really good pieces than 16 mediocre ones. The first-box gift is better, too - the ruler & pins are far more useful than the old wrist pincushion. Even the magazine has more info than before. I saw someone else review this new-and-improved version, and they had already made the potholder before filming the video, and they had no issues with the pattern at all. Thank you for posting such a thorough & honest review.
I had a sub-box once for a few months and quit it. First, they always have floral fabric, which I do not like except for 1930s florals. I rarely buy precuts for that reason. Also, too much "stuff" that I will never use so why pay for it. I think this box is the best I've seen. No junk and I think great for beginners. I want to be a fabric snob but the truth is, I've made quilts from Joann's fabric that lasted years and from quilt shop fabric that frayed before I finished quilting it. So, just find what you like and can afford. Great review. Very honest.
I agree about the fabric - No one can afford to be a quilter if they have to pay $14+ per yard for all fabric. They've told me they've improved their fabric beginning with this box.
@@revelationquilts yes I have seen that comment on a couple different sites. They listen to the comments and that they were working on the fabric end of things for quality and fabric style.
I have never done a subscription box. I have always seen prices of $75. That cuts into my monthly budget and how do I know if I would really like the projects. Thanks for the review and I will pass. I already have enough fabric and patterns to do all my small projects.
I really appreciated the information and honesty of this video. I also have never bought a box but have been considering Mrs. Quilty. I liked the pause choice or that I can cancel at any time, also that shipping is included. My draw backs have been the negative comments on quality of the fabric and that it is older material. Also the mistakes in their patterns. That has been a stopping point for me. I can’t seem to “ pull the plug” and actually order. I also am an older quilter and have recently downsized getting rid of so much that adding trinkets is not what I really want to do at this stage and not into crafting like I used to be. That being said I could use the extra items as things to pass along to others. I believe in encouraging the younger generation to try new things. I find when readers comment on what they try or do is also helpful. Like after washing there was a difference. I think a quick addition of how the projects turn out is there shrinkage would be a great idea. Thanks
I like the way you broke down "good," "better," and "best" fabrics fabrics. I feel similarly minded. I will wuilt with polyester for some quilts. It was used in the past for amazing quilts with nice colorful quilts. I prefer cotton and cjoose it when I can. I'm usually in the "better" fabric market. I'm not an expert quilter and still have a lot to learn. I started the Mrs Quilty box subscription last month. I'm looking forward to seeing some new projects to try.
I’m glad you did the good, better, best comparison. I did a subscription box for a while. I found I wasn’t making the projects each month. Also as one of the other commenters mentioned, there often are items I won’t use in the box. I think it is a good thing for some people for all the reasons you gave.
Thanks for the review! For the curious, shipping is ~ $5 plus tax. I kinda am a fabric snob because I want to know what I'm using. It doesn't have to be Robert Kaufman, but is it Keepsake Calico? or Quilters Showcase? I don't think it's a good idea to build your stash with mystery fabric that will undoubtedly get mixed with higher quality pieces. Too risky for me, so I guess that's my corner of "snob". P.S. Yay, Led Zeppelin
Thanks for the video. I ordered the Mrs Quilty box a couple weeks ago and am eagerly waiting for it to arrive. I’m not a beginner but who can resist pretty fabric which has already been selected for you haha.
Thank you for the review of this subscription box. I think that if you are not sure of what you want to do as far as quilting whether it be piecing, applique, hand quilting or whatever this is a nice way to try it out. I would try at least a box or two to see how it goes. I do not think the price is a bad one, it is less than the one I tried for sure. You do get the pattern and lots of help from basics to more advanced. The fabric, patterns and inspiration are there especially for beginners so easy to get started, just open the box. These companies will always improve with feedback but they cannot always please everyone. If I were a beginner I would truly give it a try since you can cancel if you are not happy. Thank you again for your time, honesty and feedback.
Hi, listening to you talk about how much you would pay for fabric, in NZ you pay up to $32 a mitre, I always buy when sales are on . I get a subscription box from fat quarter shop for the Mini charms, which i expensive but it is cool. There are a lot of fabrics I see and cannot get in NZ. Thank you
Oh, my gosh, great video. I was thinking of getting this box, but I didn't think from the other videos that I watched, (about 6 so far) that it was for me. It might not be, but.... I have been teaching my 9 year old grand to quilt, and I think it would be great for her. She can do small projects and get practice and build her skills. I am so glad I came across your video, I understand the way the boxes work much better. On another note, Where can I get the pattern for those cowboy boots on your Texas quilt? I have to make a quilt with those!
I priced everything separately to compare the value to the box. A 12-pc FQ Bundle is around $30. A 6.5" square ruler anywhere from $9-$20 depending on the brand. I think it's all really subjective. I didn't wash my fabric. That's good to know about. I appreciate your comment!
This is Temu quality fabric. Not close to Hobby Lobby quality. These boxes are not worth the money and I feel would discourage a beginner. Do NOT agree with your accessment. and if this is acceptable to you, your don't need my membership. PS where are the cute animal patterns they keep showing???
Thanks for your honest review. I am on a fixed income and don't have much disposable income. Secondly, I am mostly house-bound. I am going to try it. Carla from New Mexico. 🎶💐💖🫂

Sadly they do make it hard to cancel. It takes a lot of time saying no. Your quilt behind you is awesome.

Thank you for your comments - I made an error when I said that the price included shipping. It does not.

Thank you for the lovely, well-thought out comment. I agree with everything you've said.
Thank you. This was very helpful.
You're welcome!
I agree . I have been thinking about joining . I teach quilting but it looks like it would be fun to join Mrs. Quilty.

That would covert to about $19 per yard here in the US. I suppose having to be imported also makes it more expensive.

They were a paper-pieced pattern I think I got from a Carol Doak book or maybe from Pinterest.
@@revelationquilts thank you!
I felt like the fabric was improved after I washed it. But I did not think the value of the box was worth the price.

The quilt behind you is beautiful! Is there a pattern? My daughter was an exchange student in Texas and I would love to make her that quilt.
That is my own design that I just sort of made up as I went along. I found free paper-piecing patterns for the boots and the 'Texas' lettering.☺
❤❤❤
I subscribed for 6 months then canceled. They do not know what canceling means because I have continued to get boxes every month since and ghosted!
My price did not include shipping in the US. I am not that impressed after 4 boxes. I will be canceling.
I misunderstood and was mistaken about the free shipping. I did post a correction about that in the description.
