Optimal serenity, watching you paint Anastasia! There are so many things I learn just watching your process. Favorites learned today: THE MOON ❤❤❤. The sailboats too. Watercolor is so magical even when you have a more controlled approach like I do (honestly I’m trying to loosen up😂) it still performs like magic. Watercolor just can’t help itself. It’s the most satisfying medium ever. Thank you for all you do. Blessings to you this Christmas Day, and a Glorious New Year in 2024!
Watercolours truly are the most magical and mesmerising medium! At here is nothing else like painting in watercolour. Thank you for your kind words, and for watching my videos - I am so happy you find them useful on your creative journey ✨ Hope your Christmas has been lovely, and I am wishing you a creative and peaceful 2024 too!
Absolutely stunning Anastasia!!!. The bold colors you used in such a dramatic way catch the eye and holds it there. The simplicity of your style is most alluring and thought dramatic, the scene is amazingly peaceful!!.❤🥰
Hola Anastasia. Me fascinan tus acuarelas. Soy gran admiradora tuya. Hace dos años, con la pandemia, empece a pintar y con tus videos aprendo mucho y tambien me inspiro. Muchas gracias por todo lo que muestras, te envio un abrazo desde Barcelona, España ❤️ creaciones me ayudan a inspirarme
Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment, and I do apologize for the late reply. How wonderful you have found watercolours, and I am very glad that you find my videos useful on your journey - thank you for watching. Happy painting, and a very merry Christmas to you, from Australia!
Thank you for watching, and I am glad you enjoyed it! I am sure that with practice you will start noticing the elements of a landscape in your abstract watercolour washes 😊 And it is such fun to create those washes! Happy painting!
Another beautiful painting. I watch at half speed to make sure I can read your comments as well as imagine your thought process through the progression of your work. Very inspiring and causing me to shift my focus away from replicating a picture to just painting and allowing the paint movement to help me develop a scene. Thanks again for the inspiring demo.
Thank you so much Ted. How wonderful that you are focusing on allowing the watercolours to do their thing and help you create - it truly is the best way (at least in my opinion!) to paint with watercolours
I love how you use the hake brush! My hake brush is old and not of the best quality; however, I've been using the mottler brush and it seems to do the job. And I watch your tutorials on a daily basis, even if I have seen them before... there is always something new to learn from them. In fact, I love your technique so much that I am now painting most of my watercolor landscapes using it. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much! I am so glad you are enjoying watching and rewatching my videos 😊 Mottler brush is a great alternative to hake, I do have one and I occasionally use it too as I love the straight lines it can create (my one is quite stiff). Happy painting!
Another beauty ☺️ I would love to see a video of the colours in your pallet. Thanks for posting these videos I was never a landscape painter until I saw your process, now I have a whole new perspective. Thank you sooo much for this. Waving from Queensland 🐾
Thank you so much Tracie 😊 My palette is a bit of a mess 😁 36 wells filled with colours arranged in a rather semi-random manner! I would typically use just a handful of colours in a single painting, and I list them in the description of each video. So glad to know you have found a new perspective in your creative process after watching my videos - thank you for sharing this, it means a lot Waving back at you from NSW 🙋♀️
I feel I don t be able to do that. Six month ago I started with aquarelle, but only copy. But this way, its difficult, I think. So its beautiful and I ll try. Thanks for show us your way to paint. Thanks from Spain.
Watercolours can be challenging, I agree. The best way to create with them is to play with the paint and the water and see what happens. Have fun! Thank you for watching my videos 😊
I'm returning to watercolor after a 40 year hiatus... been studying and learning from TH-cam. I'm struggling to find my style. I think it might not be the florals and other themes now so popular... I'm searching for something else. I love structure and sound draftsmanship, but the paint and I are still fighting. They are pointless little battles that leave me feeling empty. I like this approach and will try it. I love doing landscapes. Thank you for a nice video... new sub. 👏
Thank you being here and for sharing your journey with watercolour. I know what you mean by looking for something that feels like it is yours - I, too, spent a long time trying to figure out what it was I was connecting to the most after I returned to painting after a long break. It will come to you ✨Because you are not giving up on that quest ✨
Hi Anastasia… it just occurred to me that I have been watching and following along with multiple of your demos today without so much as liking them… so apologies. I just love them! Love your style and learning so much… and Rockwell paints are definitely on the list. Funny I’ve never heard of them til now, given that I’m Canadian! Cheers!
Thank you for your lovely comment Rose! So glad that you are enjoying my videos AND that you are following along. Rockwell paints have some lovely colours 😊 Happy painting!
Wow, it is impressive how you can do that beautiful painting with only few colors. I love your art, is very subtle. Do you have your paintings available in USA?
Thank you for watching and for your kind words about my art! I do ship my paintings (unframed only) from Australia to the US. You can contact me via email if you are interested in a particular artwork, my email is contact@anastasiamily.com
Hope you have fun painting! Hard to say about the brush sizes as they are different across brands/types. I love large soft floppy mops. Sizes 2 and 4 would be my most used ones. I list my materials, including brushes, in the description of my videos, hope this helps 😊
I recently found your channel and have been devouring each video over and over again! ❤ I keep forgetting to hit like, but I will definitely go back and do that..,And I am subscribed now too. I love your style of painting. It’s so beautiful and restrained and…. I don’t even know all the adjectives to describe them…. They’re just gorgeous. Quick question though: what is the brush that you’re using in this video and a couple others, that you use with the white gouache to make the sun? Is that a filbert? Thanks again for your content❤❤❤
Thank you for being here - glad you enjoy watching my videos! You can find the details of all the brushes I use in the description of each video. I used a round brush by Princeton for the sun in this painting 😊
Oh, thanks for narrowing that down. 😊The Princeton Neptune round size 4, ok … In the video, it looked like a firmer bristled Filbert… Every time I try to paint a naturally round moon or sun, in order to get it perfectly round, it keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger ha ha ha anyway, thanks again for everything. I really appreciate you.❤
@@MerrrryBeth I’ve done that many times! These days I use a small brush and go very slowly not to make the sun/moon very big. Still happens though 😊 Thank you!
Why does my paper always buckle !?!? It’s so frustrating. I have fairly heavy cotton hot press paper and still need to soak it and tape it down with painters tape
It's perfectly normal that it buckles, it always does! I use paper blocks, the sheets of paper are stacked and gummed together on the sides, and I find that the paper buckles slightly less as it is already pre-stretched, but it still does. I have heard that 300lbs/640gsm cotton paper hardly buckles, but I haven't used it myself yet, I paint on 140lbs/300gsm.

How does your paper stay so flat?
You mean its not buckling? I use 300gsm (140lbs) paper blocks, they are gummed along the sides so the paper doesn't buckle as much.
I love the way you do your wet on wet . Extaordinary
Thank you for your kind words!
What is the white paint you are using? Thank you
It's white gouache, I often use it to create small details and highlights
Pourquoi on ne peut pas avoir les sous-titres en français ?
It is because I do not do voiceovers in my videos, sorry…

That is such a lovely painting Anastasia , I love the simplicity, but so effective thank you.
