My biggest issue with the replay system is that it’s some room in New York with obscure, nameless, faceless people. They give no explanation why they made the call it’s just “New York said he’s out so he’s out”. Faceless unaccountability.
And now you understand the difference between running a business for profit vs sport. There was huge money if NYY plays LAD and MLB wanted it. Laughably, NYY screwed up and lost dismally negating the opportunity for the megamoney
The early replay involving Gavin Lux of the Dodgers shows that the catcher clearly blocked his hand, yet they still called him out after a review. Yet, the play at the plate between the Rangers and White Sox shows that he was clearly NOT blocking the plate but was called safe. What the hell?!!!!? Are umps worse now or is it all of the tech that shows how bad they have always been?
@@thebigcnel Just read the rules. You're right. My bad. I do understand the rules of baseball but am still annoyed at some of the changes made recently. This is one I did not really look into. My guess is that in the second clip, the catcher has a foot on the plate before receiving the ball therefore they consider it blocking. Funny how the catcher can potentially break a players hand or fingers but cannot have a foot on the plate.😁
The umpires suck and it will ruin baseball. The umpires union exists because the owners would not increase the meal money for the umps. Another brilliant move by the billionaires.
This is actually the same criteria the NFL uses, and nobody complains about replay review there. And I'm saying this as a Royals fan whose team lost a game because of a call shown earlier in this video.
That’s bc the NFL actually overturns calls. The MLB goes in phases where they refuse to. The Garrett Wilson catch a few days ago was a great example, there’s a 0% chance MLB’s replay system would turn that over
I think we need to get rid of umpires for an entire MLB year. Here is a suggestion... 1) The Pitcher calls all balls and strikes. 2) Each baseman calls safes and outs at their particular base. 3) The catcher calls all fair and foul balls. 4) The shortstop calls outs or dropped balls in the outfield. After one year of the utter insanity, we will beg umpires to re-enter the game of baseball. Like it or not, if you have ever been an umpire, the job is NOT as easy as it seems. They make mistakes, JUST LIKE PLAYERS DO!
this is my favorite excuse. if its so hard then let them EFFECTIVELY USE THE REPLAY TOOLS. i guarantee the average fan's perception of the umpires would skyrocket if they allowed these obviously incorrect calls to be corrected.
Video clearly says that being an umpire is hard and it's hard to get everything right first time on the field, but the calls still being wrong after a video review is very bad.
how often does this happen? Stated more specifically, what percentage of appealed calls are evaluated correctly? If your assessment of umpire ineptitude is correct, what can be done about it? Certainly, I'm sure you'd agree that the rule concerning how many unsuccessful appeals are allowed, is a rule which should be changed I assert it would be reasonable to increase the number of unsuccessful appeals to 2 In other words, your first unsuccessful appeal on a given day should not preclude you from another appeal The second unsuccessful appeal will preclude further appeals I don't see how anybody would disagree with this rule change being quite reasonable Finally, if you are correct and umpires suck sufficiently, then one can only assume it's an issue of umpires fighting to maintain their relevancy
Joe west still catching strays years after retiring 😂
The original bad umpire 🔥
Woke up and chose violence I see.

Lux was safe still dont know how it was missed.
That hand was under that entire mass, like mail through a door slot. Not even CONTROVERSIAL on replay. Still makes me sick.
8:17 you got me crying bro omg 😭😭
“You can obviously see trea turner is out”
Proceeds to show less than a millimeter if he’s not touching the bag
And now you understand the difference between running a business for profit vs sport. There was huge money if NYY plays LAD and MLB wanted it. Laughably, NYY screwed up and lost dismally negating the opportunity for the megamoney
The Freddie Freeman one was way more clear than the Turner one.

You realize the catcher can block the plate when he has the ball? Lux was out, LA fans just don’t understand rules.

"I don't care what the rule says."
Well, the umpires do
Angel Hernandez has pretty much cloned himself at this rate
He has gone to the replay room instead
@peskytalk I guess lol
the review team in new york arent umpires necessarily.

"haha it's at 3000% now" I'm glad I found this channel because of shit like that
I’m glad someone found that funny and it wasn’t just me that thought it was 😂
You lost me when you put "bro" in every sentence 😅
When did I even say bro?

Either you are an ump who makes bad calls or you didn't bother watching the video. Sheesh.
Some of yall just DO NOT KNOW how hard it is to be an umpire
I gave them credit multiple times for it being too difficult, that’s why replay being bad sucks

Isn't that the whole point of this video...
To let replay correct the umpires' deficiencies.
Yeah well if they were better they should have the job and since they are poor at their job they shouldn't have that job
how often does this happen?
