Awesome. Now i can do a lot more with my calculator. First I'll have to practice on a few dummy walls before i use it on the job. Getting the length of each stud and plates in a rake wall is something I've been trying to figure out for a while. Thanks man.

When you're finding the secant, that is essentially the same thing as the common line length ratio in will holidays world). If you're using your phone calculator without trig functions, just find the hypotenuse with your 7/12 and Pythagorean theorem. Then divide by the run(12) to get the same 1.157.

Great video, good explanation. But you're going to want to check your math when you changed decimals to fractions from stud 2 on.
