Concussions are not fun
Everyone should wear a helmet when skating. I got cleaned out at a public skate once and despite wearing a helmet, still ended up with a concussion and actually had to replace the helmet due to the damage. I hit so hard (harder than I've ever been hit in a game even), I would be a vegetable today had I not been wearing one. There's no doubt in mind mind I would have had a skull fracture.

My family went to the canal for the first time that weekend. We saw you skating backwards down the canal that morning. The snow covered the ice so you couldn't avoid the cracks. It was a bit treacherous going forward. But backwards was impossible without falling. It was much better that evening. I think under better conditions you could do it no problem. Great family friendly videos. Keep them coming. We loved the canal by the way. It's a bucket list must do for any skater.

The Rideau canal is the best rink ever! Jeremy is the best for doing the whole thing I couldn’t imagaine how much that would suck! He inspired me to make my own channel check it out for some awesome hockey videos!

I drove up last weekend with people from my team and skated as much of the canal that was open. It was awesome
We were inspired by your videos. The River Oak and Lac-des-loups skating trails were incredible

BUT!!!! Can you skate backwards on the canal and score the shootout winner as well????
I have been skating for over 30 years and my first experience on that canal was pretty bad. I was falling a lot. If someone was watching me they might think it was my first time on skates. That ice can get really ruff. Best advice I can give someone skating that canal would be to pick up your feet when your in the rough stuff. Don't try and just skate normal strides through it because as you seen Coach Jeremy your butt will end up soar!!!

I am so jealous of this. In Tennessee our winters consist of maybe 1" of snow and around 10 days of temps below 32f.

We flew up from Texas to skate on the canal. Great experience, but yeah the ice was in pretty bad shape.
