One of the first things I did was put new shocks front and rear in my recently acquired R1100s. The difference was a revelation . The original front shock was all but seized and the rear was almost useless. One of the best improvements I have made to my 21 year old bike. It is now uber comfortable and handles. The Shocks are from a company in France called Shock Factory and they build them custom to suit you and the bike.I have used these people before and was happy so I went with them again .The cost was not a lot more than having the standard originals rebuilt. Thanks for your vids , they have been a great help to me as a new BMW owner.
@@brockcroy805 I have now had the Shock Factory shocks on the bike for 3 months and done 5000Klms. The shocks are performing as intended and handle everything that I can throw at them from touring with a load, scratching in the twisties, and just some lunacy . Transforms the bike and worth every Penny!
Hey Chris, thanks so much for these videos on the R1100s. I just came across them and they're amazing. I have a specific question on a 2004 model of the bike that I picked up recently.. Is there anyway to get in contact and pay for 15 minutes of your time to consult?? Thanks so much keep it up!
Hello Chris. Thanks for your videos. I have a question. What does it mean R2S and R11S - is there any difference? Thank you for your (or others) answer.
Hey Chris! I have a 1982 BMW R65LS, there are 2 long studs with longer threads on one end and short on the other. There are 6 other studs. Can you help me with their orientation, their torque specs, and the length they need to be at? I cant find out where the longer bolt goes and if the longer ends of the threads or shorter go into the block. Ive seen your repair of the stud videos. But not a simple removal and reinstall video
Hi Chris, thank you for making your videos. After a resent long ride my wife told me that she had a pain in the bottom, I think she was referring to the pillion seat, or was she talking about me? I ride a 2004 BMW R1150R, , could you advice me how to avoid numb bum. You can spend a lot of money on after market seats; in your experience do they work? Or will even the most comfortable seat give pressure spot issues if you do not move around.
Thanks Chris, BMW lists a stock replacement (R1100RT) at $610. What are quality 3rd Party choices for a budget-minded guy who can't afford Ohlins or Wilber? Are YSS or Worx Shocks any good? Thanks.
Thanks Chris - just got a 99 - all this is so helpful.
Thanks for series.

Astonishing that a suspension shop would rebuild a shock while having clearly never once looked at how it's supposed to go in the machine.
You have R100 fuel line How Top with No Leaks? Enjoy your videos!!

Hello, are there new shocks for the r1100s that you recommend? Doesn't look like Ohlin makes them anymore for the R1100s.

Yes and Progressive Suspension is an option also.
I have YSS on my 1150 GS and it is deffinetly the best suspension for the money. I like it very much.
YSS is a common stock replacement for airheads and everybody likes them
Hagon is a decent rebuildable budget shock
I have one on my R 100 GS it gets the job done
Chris Harris?
Always enjoy the information you share . Ride safe and enjoy.
Thanks Henry! And you were 2 states away last comment... keep going east and I'm over there in the woods.
@@ChrisR.Harris you sure your not 3? Because Pennsylvania has that little shore line at Erie. Just saying!
@@henryhawk978 Go east from VT until you reach Canada. Then go back into the woods a bit and you're there!
@@ChrisR.Harris you close to Madawaska?!
