Great comp guys....watched the previous three but this is by far the best........great choices, i love it bcoz they bait me to watch these amazing movies. Awesome work......honestly cant wait for the next.
He has said that he could make others happy but not himself. If you do research into what his childhood was like you will see a glimpse. The scene of him as a boy in Jumanji beat up after school...that happened to young Robin. Being "funny" was his coping mechanism to attempt to get noticed by his mother. Laughter heals, so it should be part of medicine and that role showed that part of him. I am glad I was able to meet him once. I didn't ask him for anything like an autograph or performance, but he began to perform anyway. I wish I would have told him it wasn't necessary, that he was GOOD ENOUGH just the way he was.
The man was an amazing actor! Not too many others ever showed the true acting range that he had. Could take you from laughing hysterically to teary eyed sad a moment later then laughing again right after that. Then you throw in his darker roles like One Hour Photo, Insomnia, The Fisher King and August Rush that showed a completely different side of him that could scare the crap out of you. RIP Robin. We were blessed to have shared this planet with you!
From the first time I saw Robin Williams on TV I loved and admired him. His off the wall antics were so wacky they made me laugh until I cried. Whether it is his movies, television, or stand up he excelled at making people laugh. His humor was self-deprecating at times because he shared his demons with us. When he died a piece of me died with him. Oh how the angels in heaven are shaking their heads as he goes on at a hundred miles an hour making people laugh. That is what he was born to do.
Hacksaw Ridge...Andrew acted his heart out..he's one of the few actors to make me cry in different movies. Robin Williams, I wish I met him. He's the type of person who'd definitely leave an impact in your life
I did have the privilege of meeting him and you’re right you never forget. Made a funny joke about my hometown that 45 years later when we say in the name of our town which is Joliet we say not quite the end of the world but you can see it from there because that’s what Robin told me the night he just walked over to our table and started to talk to us.
Hacksaw Ridge almost immediately became one of my most favorite movies at that scene. This movie was beautifully told and and beautifully executed. Andrew did a fantastic job with portraying Desmond.
my ancestor Dr. Samuel Douglas Adams was a surgeon on the battlefields of the Revolutionary War. How much courage does is take to serve wounded soldiers on the battlefield unarmed with anything but a scalpel and bandages? He served with this courage all his life, even into retirement, visiting the disabled veterans he had served during the worst days of their lives. I am so proud to be his descendant.
All I do know is that everytime I got more money it was met with a more expenses. I don't know what the magic number is but check to check 2 jobs is not always a problem with quantity

I'm not religious, but I think the message of that movie transcends religion. My favorite line "In a world so intent on tearing itself apart, I don't see what's wrong with wanting to put a little bit of it back together."

If that's what it took to get kids to know of a man who was so 100% one way who then looked at the world from a different view and had the courage to change his views then I'll take it.
I didn't know much about Malcolm X besides what you hear about in schools but once I saw this movie I knew that I wanted to watch it. I might not agree with everything Malcolm X says Denzel allowed me to hear everything he stands for and what he saw in America. Definitely interesting to think about and consider
Morgan Freeman was in the first video with his speech about "rehabilitated" in Shawshank Redemption. To my mind there are at least two more speeches he gives in that film that should have made one of these lists. The speech about the bird whose feathers are too bright and the one about Hope at the end of the film. But that is just a personal opinion, because I think that Shawshank is one of the greatest films ever made, and 50 percent of that greatness is Freeman's narration.
An amazing movie and book the actors who were in the movie were amazing in the performances they delivered Morgan Freeman was the perfect choice for the role and thank god for Stephen King for delivering us an amazing story to be tod by these actors.

Having watched all 4 of these Greatest Monologues pieces I am still wondering why Robert Shaw's epic monologue about surviving in the ocean for 5 days after the sinking of the USS Indianapolis during the second act of Jaws was not included. Of every scene I've seen over 60 years of watching movies and projecting movies in my theater, not one has haunted me like his has. Not one has rendered me absolutely speechless and still, sending chills up my spine every time I see it. It's a mesmerizing piece of acting and deserves a place among the greatest monologues of all time.
Ooh, just thought about all the great monologues in The Breakfast Club when everyone's sitting on the floor. Especially the ones by Emilio Estevez and Anthony Michael Hall. They absolutely nailed what teenagers go through.
I have watched all of these and they are all great! But one should be added immediately to this collect of great monologues and that is the heart felt emotion's Sally Felds laid out in01989 Steel Magnolias. The funeral scene embodied not only pain from losing your child, but the sister hood that was shared during it.
So many great ones. I'm still waiting for Schindler's List "I Didn't Do Enough" speech though. I can't even watch that film without crying. Liam Neeson did such an incredible job in that role. Also waiting for the scene in Steel Magnolias at Shelby's funeral. That whole scene had 3 good monologues there. The first with Annelle then M'Lynne and then Clairee. Also, Robert Duvall's speech in Phenomenon when they're in the bar and Doc is defending George. Such a good one as well. 😎👍
You can't deliver the package if the contents are rotten. Sure there's great acting in this series - but only because there's also great screenwriting. Conversely I doubt any of the actors here has not sometimes been made to look like an amateur through having to deliver bad lines.
I thought perhaps Kevin Costner's closing argument monologue from JFK might have been in one of these. He did that in one continuous take and it's brilliant to behold.
Man..... that Pacino in "The Merchant of Venice". You can feel the pain, then that revengeful tone as he stared that crowd down. To exact revenge "but harder" is a very frighting threat to hear from someone wronged.
I've watched all 4 of these videos now and am truly amazed at every offering. The talent and passion is just so incredible. And all of these monologues aren't even a drop in the bucket of the film industry. There are so many terrific performances out there that people have never seen and may never see. These videos are absolutely amazing and your work Sir is inspiring. Please keep up the great work in bringing such awe inspiring performances to the world.
3 of my favorites are Rob Lowe's older brother admonishing him for quitting the hockey team in Youngblood, Gregory Peck's speech to shareholders imploring them not to sell in Other People's Money, and Danny DeVito's counter-speech trying to convince shareholders they should.
Has anyone seen Thora Hird's 30-minute monologue 'Waiting for the telegram' by Alan Bennett> She was 86 years old when it was recorded; truly wonderful acting.
Two of my favorite Monologues was the last Monologue Spencer Tracy ever did. It was at the end of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. From the same movie Sidney Poitier talking to his father about how he sees himself.
Some of my personal favorites - Nick Nolte at the end of Blue Chips; Gene Hackman talking about the battle of San Juan Hill in Bite the Bullet, both Peter Finch and William Holden in Network, and OF COURSE Robert Shaw in Jaws.
Watched all 4 of these and it seems to me that Al Pacino is represented quite often for good reason, but that Stallone monologue still resonates the most.
I loved Patch Adams. I remember hearing critics didn’t like this movie. I cried, another movie that made me want to change the world!!! Robin Williams, I love and miss you!!!
He really was. Robin always made it his mission to make others laugh and feel good, when in reality he was struggling the whole team. He made it his life work to make others happy and he was depressed. He didn’t want anyone else to feel the way he did. The man was a god send

Great to see 2 Julia Roberts' monologues--should definitely add one from Erin Brockovich as well. Surprised to only see Julia, Viola Davis and Taraji Henson representing so many excellent women's monologues.
I’m surprised that nothing by Christopher Walken has made this. Nothing from True Romance, the watch monologue in Pulp Fiction, nothing from Catch Me If You Can, etc? It beats The Michael Douglas speech.
Can't take seriously a list about monologues that ignores Robert Shaw's USS Indianapolis tale in Jaws. In my estimation, it's the #1 monologue of all time, by the most criminally underrated actor of all time.
Sean Connery had some powerful acting scenes in Finding Forrester. One was on the pitcher's mound in Yankee Stadium; another one reading "Losing Family". Great movie.

I axed my niece the other day: "What's 4 + 4?" She said: "44". The guy yelling "IT IS!" from the audience cracks me up. To me he's the unsung hero of that scene.
Denzel Washington studied Malcolm X's speeches along with his life. Denzel embodied Malcolm X's contribution to this country. Denzel should have won an Oscar this role.
There's one that I really like from The Pacific, where a Marine makes a remark about the Japanese, and Jon Seda, who plays Sgt. John Basilone gives a speech about how the Japanese soldier will do everything in his power to kill his enemy.
The Pacific was a wonderful and extremely bloody depiction of the war in the Pacific theater. I had uncles who had fought in the Pacific Theatre. They never talked about it. They never said a word about it. What they saw was so earth shattering they couldn’t get it out of their head. They were the very first soldiers to actually have PTSD that what they called they called it shell shock. That came on for I believe 10 weeks on Sunday night. It was over before you blinked because it just sucked you in and made you want these people to come home and be safe and they didn’t. I think it’s unfortunate, that the Pacific did not get the casting that band of Brothers did. It was not as popular how you didn’t carry the buzz that the band of Brothers did. So many good first rate monologues in that series.
There is a speech that - IMO - is in the top 10 of the finest monologues ever spoken - am surprised it hasn't been portrayed and that is.... Spencer Tracy's final court room speech in Nuremburg. It defines the current understanding and definition of "Crimes Against Humanity" - the actual speech at Nuremburg by the Chief Justice is the bar that is used for that definition... Tracy nailed it.
I have now watched 4 of these and in two of them there where Julia Roberts clips and yet no Erin Brockovic scene. Clearly we need more of these videos.
Everyone is a doctor, we all gotta watch out for each other. Especially now that the politicians don't care about us anymore. We are our brother's and sister's keepers, God is our father.

Watched all 4 of these and it seems to me that Al Pacino is represented quite often for good reason, but that Stallone monologue still resonates the most.

He really was. Robin always made it his mission to make others laugh and feel good, when in reality he was struggling the whole team. He made it his life work to make others happy and he was depressed. He didn’t want anyone else to feel the way he did. The man was a god send

That first monologue...one of my favorites since the first time I saw it. The discussion of character, the Constitution, and election year fear-mongering...SPOT ON!!!
I love the symbolism, he stops trying to appeal to the Drs and turns his back on them and tells it to the people 🙂

Great to see 2 Julia Roberts' monologues--should definitely add one from Erin Brockovich as well. Surprised to only see Julia, Viola Davis and Taraji Henson representing so many excellent women's monologues.

I’m surprised that nothing by Christopher Walken has made this. Nothing from True Romance, the watch monologue in Pulp Fiction, nothing from Catch Me If You Can, etc? It beats The Michael Douglas speech.
Ned Beatty’s monologue in Network is not only brilliant but incredibly relevant.
I wanted Denzel Washington to win the Oscar for this role. He deserved it. I loved Mona Lisa, Malcolm X and The American President.

Can't take seriously a list about monologues that ignores Robert Shaw's USS Indianapolis tale in Jaws. In my estimation, it's the #1 monologue of all time, by the most criminally underrated actor of all time.

Sean Connery had some powerful acting scenes in Finding Forrester. One was on the pitcher's mound in Yankee Stadium; another one reading "Losing Family". Great movie.
There's 4 of these videos, more than an hour worth of footage, and not a single second of the "tears in rain" monologue from Rutger Hauer.
I was thinking exactly the same thing myself! That scene is worth more than all of these videos put together!

I axed my niece the other day: "What's 4 + 4?" She said: "44". The guy yelling "IT IS!" from the audience cracks me up. To me he's the unsung hero of that scene.

Denzel Washington studied Malcolm X's speeches along with his life. Denzel embodied Malcolm X's contribution to this country. Denzel should have won an Oscar this role.
There's one that I really like from The Pacific, where a Marine makes a remark about the Japanese, and Jon Seda, who plays Sgt. John Basilone gives a speech about how the Japanese soldier will do everything in his power to kill his enemy.
The Pacific was a wonderful and extremely bloody depiction of the war in the Pacific theater. I had uncles who had fought in the Pacific Theatre. They never talked about it. They never said a word about it. What they saw was so earth shattering they couldn’t get it out of their head. They were the very first soldiers to actually have PTSD that what they called they called it shell shock. That came on for I believe 10 weeks on Sunday night. It was over before you blinked because it just sucked you in and made you want these people to come home and be safe and they didn’t. I think it’s unfortunate, that the Pacific did not get the casting that band of Brothers did. It was not as popular how you didn’t carry the buzz that the band of Brothers did. So many good first rate monologues in that series.

It defines the current understanding and definition of "Crimes Against Humanity" - the actual speech at Nuremburg by the Chief Justice is the bar that is used for that definition... Tracy nailed it.
