Exactly what I was doing. Lol. I've been off work for a few weeks and just got a new acoustic/electric so I been trying to learn a new song every other day to pass the time.
Honestly, if any Nirvana riff belongs in the top 10 acoustic (and that's a stretch) it's All Apologies. It contains a far more iconic guitar hook. LoF is more renowned for Kurt's impassioned vocals. The guitar itself is just rudimentary chord changes.
LoMar Sweed yes its more renowned for kurts vocals but the reason i said LoF shoulda been ok here is because of the acoustic. Thats why i said it. Its an amazing riff
0:01 I walk a lonely road The only one that I have ever known Don't know where it goes But it's home to me, and I walk alone I walk this empty street On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams Where the city sleeps And I'm the only one, and I walk alone
To me, most of these are chord progressions, not necessarily “riffs”. An acoustic riff to me involves some melodic line that you don’t get just by playing standard chords. Like the main guitar part in “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman. But nice job regardless.
I grew up playing Doc Watson's stuff and when I got into SRV in my late teens I learned all his stuff and I mean all of it on acoustic lol. I eventually broke down and bought an electric and never looked back. But in terms of cool acoustic licks go I would tell anyone to learn Scuttlebuttin, Rude Mude, and Testify from SRV and work them out on an acoustic. Not only will sound great but your string skipping or flat-picking will be sharper than you thought possible. And then you're off............................
i know this comment has nothing to do with the video, but can you guys help me? I'm a beginner at playing the guitar, so I'm wondering what's the best brand of acoustic guitar for me? is Fender a good brand? edit: thank you for pinning this comment and thank you for answering my questions! great video by the way. I have multiple acoustics and my beginner model fender and it plays decent. If you have the money i recommend possibly a taylor or a martin, as they're like the fenders and gibsons of acoustics. If you really want to go all out, try looking for a Takamine. I just love their sound, but every one sound unique in their own way, so i recommend going to a music store and trying them out yourself (once the pandemic things over of course)
if you can afford it you can get a good martin for a good 800 to 1200 usd. honestly tho, if you can, go to a guitar store after learning some basics and whatever feels best is what you should pick up
