- Playing the #Moog #subharmonicon, seeing whats inside and then plugging it into the roland CR78 i talked about in my last video! and an upcoming Kosmo module the Triple Splashback, a video on that will be coming in a few days! Moog sent this to me, and its quite an honor to get something sent to play on im very chuffed, i am picky about what i do these kind of videos on but needless to say i was quite curious about the subharmonicon, like i said in the video! i was expecting the one from moogfest 2018 but with a black panel, but you should have seen my face when it arrived, it was a mixture of confusion and more intrigue haha.

Because of TH-camrs like you and Markus Fuller, I've developed a habit of taking apart every synth I get within the first week. I think synths look better on the inside than the outside.
Fortunately I haven't damaged any of them so far, lol.
I've been using Moog filters forever and was today years old when I learned a "ladder filter" is so called because the transistors form a little ladder shape in the circuit. 😎
Of all the contributions to the sudden Subharmonicon video push I think I like yours the best. I don't know that anyone else would start by pulling the synth to pieces.

To be honest I was always annoyed that I need to scrollt all the way through the recommended videos to the bottom to see the comments. I think it makes much more sense now.

I am convinced the word bash comes from Norwegian, perfect double meaning. :) That is a pretty awesome timemachine. Seems like the perfect tool to break away from that whole stiff synth music thing that alot of people get stuck in. Those 3D printed bits looks super awesome, between those and cablehangers a 3D printers seems to be totaly worth it. I think it is crazy that those are not for sale anywhere. Stay awesome!

its cool! its not massively versatile but it has a job and it does it in a very interesting way with polyrythms and stuff, it makes the variations very enjoyable to just leave droning away in the background

sequencer part reminds me a lot of something ive been building in puredata recently. Quite happy to see poly rhythmic/poly phasic mad wonkyness hit closer to the main frey :D
I've been taking my toys apart since I was 4 years old 🤓. The X-wing fighter uses an electric motor that spins a gear against a flappy piece of plastic to make the laser sound; kinda like a playing card on bicycle spokes effect. I was so disappointed 😿

I like how it shares an aesthetic and form factor with the DFAM and Mother-32. I wonder how all 3 sound played in sync. Probably massive.

You watched at least one video so you know the product exists. For that, I'd say it is successful. Also, not sure they tell everyone to release it at the same time. They may just tell them that the videos cannot be released before the date.

So you got me researching the Googleverse and I found the name: bezel nuts. I have a nice little socket driver that works great on those. Somebody should redesign those 3D twisty thingamajigs to couple onto a screwdriver, then voila!

Also any recommendations for my first analogue synth that won’t break the bank would be great. I’m looking for one that’ll create some nice dirty, Bass and distorted sounds for film music! Of course some nice harmonics and rounded sounds would be great too. Sick of using plugins and have also been looking to build my own for ages.

Very cool box, but is it "musical"?
it has a quantization feature for equal temperament and just intonation, that's the cool thing about it, plug and fiddle with the knobs witnout worrying about music theory all that much!
Seems like all the youtubers got theses but LMNC gets the best out of it
I love this video for the tear down. Sorry but for $700 you could buy yourself a small eurorack case, a couple of oscillators, couple of filter, a beatstep pro and have some spare change left for patch cables, a cheeseburger and chips.
Why's it in such a big housing? Theres only like one small circuit board. The whole thing could be at least half the size.
Because it's Eurorack mountable? The enclosure is literally just a Eurorack case. It wouldn't change the size/footprint if you made the case less thick, it would just make the Subharmonicon more proprietary, and it would likely cost more if they aren't able to reuse the cases from the Mother 32 and DFAM.
Plus, more air space helps prevent overheating. Less of a problem nowadays but still worth mentioning.

First instinct was, I want this.
Then I saw the price and started thinking, I could do this with my new Korg Wavestate.
And have a lot more options to fiddle with, and control over.
Now will dedicate some time to that concept.
On further thought, would be fun to try with two MicroFreaks, one panned to the left, and one panned to the right.
EDIT: Jump ahead a few months.....I could not resist the siren call of the Subharmonicon, and ordered one today.
Can't wait for it to get here/hear.
Should add a bypass to the delay with an on/bypass relay that is cv controlled.
i did but then i changed my mind. there will be a bigger version and that will be a function on it. that and a couple of other functions went
