In this video, I'm recreating a basket apron from a US Department of Agriculture Farmers' Bulletin on sewing for work and home, issued in 1944.

I'm also going to be hosting a Live sewalong for this pattern on April 24th, at 12:00 noon PST. Join me here: • WWII Basket Apron Sewa...

This kind of reminds me of a poster I saw in the Canadian forces museum on Juno beach. An infantryman, a sailor and a lady (looking suspiciously like Rosie the Riveter) holding a trowel adorned it, with the caption "Advance on all Fronts!".

I haven't even had a chance to watch it to the end yet and I've already liked it because I know I'm going to like it!

I used the back of wrapping paper that has the squares already on it. It was still a very time consuming process

Thank you for putting this out. With the economy being so bad, and it doesn't look like it will be getting better soon, many people will be going back to what our parents/grandparents did to survive.

How cute and functional! I imagine this would get lots of use in the Victory garden and collecting the chicken eggs!!

I don't have any chickens, but it would be great for tons of seed packages and potatoes!

The apron would be great for getting the eggs out of the chicken coop.

There are patterns for egg aprons which have a pocket for each individual egg
