I played guitar professionally for 12 years in Philadelphia, my band opened for some major acts, and I've seen virtually most of the great players of my generation. However, hands down, Allen Hinds has to be the most fluid, melodic, and ass kicking guitarist I've ever seen. What a player!
That boy could always play the hell out of a guitar, any guitar. Used to see/hear him play with Sailor in Montgomery, AL, back about 1980-ish. Happy to learn he’s still out there and so well regarded. He deserves to be.
mattchurchill Yea, Allen is really excellent. Wondering why is he playing in these loungy venues / gigs with the loungy act with a lady singer that can barely sing. Must be good pay !
MrDavemiley It's just fun ... a nice casual environment to play with really super talented friends. No money can buy that. And ... that lady singer is a crazy talented singer ... she's recorded on so many legendary albums with so many of the top recording artists.
I have listen a few times...The seductive "magic" that transpires between Hinds and Lewis on this piece...is beautiful... usually the drummer and the bassist 'pace' a group...but ...Allen's a true "leader"...his sensitivity and ability to "transition" , and surrender to the moment/mood is uncanny...like few I've ever experienced...(drummer's a bit 'strong' )...the acoustics kinda...so so...but piece is sweet none the less...thanks for the share...

Not only can he tear it up, but proves he's got the "touch" as well.
Allen is indeed one of those all around masters ... tone and touch and melodic everything!
Hinds steals my heart.
You ain't the only one!

Happier than the morning sun, a Stevie Wonder song.

Anyone who knows the pedal he uses on 0:12?
+Thomas Couperus I'm guessing it's an Arion chorus. I think I've seen one on his board before.
I like guitar playing here, but not vocal. I think I listened this Allen Hinds first time today.
she is out of tune
but she has so much soul! She is amazing! This is not the best clip for her singing. But Allen crushes it as always!
