A great tip I saw in another video for this was to use a heat gun on the back of the plastic to make it easier to get the clips back onto the metal cross. Before I did that I was pressing with enough force I thought it might break; just went up and down over the two plastic clips 12 times quickly and it made all the difference!

w41duvernay did you ever find the back piece? my girlfriend has an 89 trans am and she lost the plastic back piece, the white plastic cross the back piece clips on to and the mirror as well. thanks!

Thanks for the great walkthru. My problem tho is I actually ended up breaking the piece behind the mirror that clips onto the motor. Its the piece that looks like a plus sign (+). Is there anyway I could just buy that piece separate. If so where would I get it?

Quick question. Did you put the glass in with the dowels attached to the side mirror glass or to the motor?
The mirror will be attached to the plastic piece with the c clips and the motor has the dowel that they attach to
J Robling my 1991 camaro was in a crash and the actual side mirror housing is gone. Theres nothing attached to the door. Can you tell me how I would put on a new one?
