    I just installed the Mazza on the Rear of my V1 Ripmo and am running an Assaggi in the Front. Right away I noticed that it rolls faster. I live in the SF Bay Area so I'll see how it holds up!
    Btw, I wish I saw this video sooner to get 20% off!...LOL. I paid $82 with tax. It was more than I wanted to spend but they seem like quality tires and I'm just an 'Average Joe' rider and usually replace tires once a year - if that. Another one I was considering was Continental Trail King but watched some negative videos about them. I just wanted to try something other than Maxxis, although they are great as well!

    Nice to see a new video out from you! I will say when I had my Specialized Status I did swap out the rear Butcher, garbage tire that got a pinch flat on the second ride, to an Enduro TNT Mazza and loved the grip! Other than that my favorite tires currently are the Michelin Wild Enduro's those have lasted me almost two seasons with zero issues and great tread life!

    I just put a vittoria barzo 2.6 on front and back of my new to me 2019 specialized stumpjumper 27.5 short travel. Also just put on Canfield 155mm crankset . Today was my first ride on the tires and have to say these are the best rolling tires I have ever used. My trail system has a lot of sandy areas roots and rocks and tires hooked up well. I have the grey trail version. Very happy with my purchase. Running 22psi in front and 25 psi rear. I’m in northeast also.

    I appreciate the review and the candor about your relationships. I bought into the Vittoria hype and bought 2 Barzos in Graphene for my XC bike. First ride was both impressive and unimpressive at the same time. I think the tread pattern and compound is good for everything except for roots, especially wet. Maybe I need to run even lower pressure with these tires than with others in other brands, but I noticed more deflection, bounce, and root sliding than with most of my other tires in the same category. Granted New England conditions are basically rainforest right now, but I’ll be pulling these off and going back to Maxxis and Bontrager until I can better figure out how to run these tires for my trails and conditions.

      @MTBMA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the feedback! I’m currently running Barzo/Mezcal on my Signal Peak and haven’t any issues. I DO run them a bit lower on pressure for more grip vs rolling speed, with an Airliner Light in the rear.

      @@MTBMA I think that’s probably the key! The sidewalls definitely have more reinforcement than I’m used to with XC and I was probably just running too high of pressure for this tire. Didn’t have too much time to experiment at the time. I do have to say that the Barzo’s felt like they were glued to berms, in a good way, so that was super fun.

  • @jimparker5949

    I completely agree the tires are great and I’m running Barzo’s here in SoFla and also agree the grey sidewall looks great new but fades rather quickly. Great review. I recently switched from a DHF/DISSECTOR combo because the dissector side knobs started to tear in the first week. So far I’m very impressed. The Mazza grips like crazy and rolls at least as good as the DHF. Martello seems great so on the rear up steep and technical climbs and rolls fast and grips very well on hard pack descents. It seems fine on steep loamy descents as well but it is aided in braking by the tenacious MAZZA.. so far I. Very happy but wonder if the agarro is a better rear tire.. ?

    • @MTBMA
      @MTBMA  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot depends on conditions and what you’re willing to compromise in terms of performance. With the Agarro, I’m happy to gain better rolling performance and sacrifice a bit of braking bite. 95% of the time Im riding hard pack so the Agarro is plenty grippy. But recently I’ve been riding my Delano in North Conway instead of my long travel enduro (which has Mazza front/rear) and am tempted to swap out the Agarro for a Martello or Mazza since so much of that riding is steep! Hope this helps!

    • @bjtj05
      @bjtj05 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MTBMA That does help, thanks. We have lots of long steep descents here in the PNW and so far the Martello is doing the trick on the rear. I've just recently switched to Agarro front and rear on my 2019 Norco Fluid fs1, I've only done a couple of rides on them so far but they feel pretty good, for sure more grip than the Barzo front and rear combo that I was running, I can't see myself needing anything more aggressive, I was a bit concerned about the extra weight but its not really an issue, I think the extra weight is compensated by how well they roll, I think they may even roll better than the Barzo, or at least no real noticeable difference, I decided to stick with Vittoria because the Barzo rear lasted for 2 years, and it still had some tread left on it when I finally binned it, they seem to last for ages.

    • @MTBMA
      @MTBMA  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually looking to switch to an Agarro front/rear on my Signal Peak for the same reason. Want a slightly bit more aggressive tread without going super heavy. 🤘

    • @benjy288
      @benjy288 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have to correct myself, after a few more rides on the agarro I've decided to remove them, the vast majority of my riding is done on lose over hard, and the agarro didn't really seem to be much better on that terrain, it feels like you have more grip but when you push harder the front goes quickly, where the barzo seems to give you more warning, and when it does go it goes slower giving you more time to catch it, also they are quite a lot heavier which makes it slower on xc type peddling tracks, you do notice the extra weight, it feels like you're riding on soft ground, or like I was unfit, I assume the agarro would be better in soft terrain, but I wouldn't recommend it for lose over hard, or hard pack.
      So I decided to try the syerra, I wasn't expecting much but I was actually very surprised, once again this is just on loose over hard, but its noticeably faster than the agarro, I would say very close to the barzo, and I think it actually has more grip than the agarro too, the tyre has a more round profile and there's a wider channel between the transition knobs and the cornering knobs so they can dig in better, the center knobs are about 4mm tall on both the agarro and the syerra, but they're smaller and spaced further apart on the syerra, also another cool feature is the firmer 60tpi casing which means you can run them at lower pressures, I'm about 73kg and ran 20psi in the front with the barzo and agarro, but I could run 18psi on the syerra no problem, it could probably handle 17psi no problem too, I think this is my new go to tyre, it kind of feels like a more capable barzo.

      @@hodgo1981 Personally I wouldn't go anything more than the Syerra, the Agarro made me feel unfit, and they didn't give any more grip on loose over hard, I actually think the Syerra gave me more grip in those conditions, and they roll much better, almost as well as the Barzo, in fact I don't even know if I would be able to tell them apart if I rode them blind back to back, the Syerra is my new favorite.

Just bought a Trek Top Fuel 8 and I'm searching for a good trail combo, since i'll basically dedicate this bike for trails only now (ocasionally some offroad longer pedals with my friends, but for that I can also go for my HT). I have a Crossking 2.3 front and Barzo 2.25 rear, i got those from my previous mtb (Scott Spark RC 2020) as they are practically as new. I was running marathon and technical XC competition with these tires and also did trail riding, i do like the combo, but i keep wondering how much improvement I would get with a slightly agressive combo. Also CO - Mazza / Agarro (both 2.6) is so good. The Mazza up front rolls well and has remarkable grip and composure. The Agarro rolls well but what surprised me and sold me was how much more aggressive it is relative to what you’d expect looking at it. You can break loose when you want but it’s very controlled and desirable in fast tight switchbacks. This combo has been great for dropping anchor when you need too as well - huge plus as I am an aggressive rider. 10/10 combo

    I would like to do the same combination on my bike, but I have an E-MTB and Vittoria has an E-MTB version of the two tires. The problem is that the Agarro only comes with the gray side panel in the E version and the Mazza only comes with the black side panel in the E version. I don't even know where the explicit difference to the e-bike version is and you won't find anything explicit on the internet either. Is the rubber compound harder or softer? Is the carcass thicker or thinner? Does it last longer but has less grip than the regular version? I'm assuming that the e-bike version will be more stable or durable in some way, so it would probably make sense to use the rear tire (Agarro) as the e-bike version. However, it has gray side walls, so I would have to take a normal Mazza with gray side walls, which is very difficult and expensive to find in Germany. Or I take the normal black version of both tires, but I don't know the difference to the e-bike version. This is pretty stupid done by Vittoria as not everyone uses the same tire front and rear. I'm now thinking about just taking the e-bike version of both. Then only the rear tire has a gray sidewall and the Mazza has a black sidewall, but that's really too stupid for me to stress about the color of the sidewall. That's really quite stupid made by Vittoria, but I'm very interested in the tires, especially the Mazza, which I really want as a front tire. I would prefer to use a Schwalbe with Super Trail carcass and Speedgrip rubber compound or a Maxxis Highroller as the rear tire, but it looks even more stupid if there are two completely different sidewalls on it. Vittoria definitely needs to work on the rear tires and it would also be good if the Agarro had the 2PLY TLR casing for more rear protection. However, at Schwalbe it is also the case that there are no tires with a Super Gravity carcass + Addix Speedgrip, although that would be the best version as a rear tire. A Hans Dampf or Nobby Nic Super Gravity Speedgrip as a rear tire, but no manufacturer offers something like that, although the carcass is much more important at the rear than at the front and you should still have a harder rubber compound at the rear than at the front.
    But I definitely want the Mazza for the front and preferably another Vittoria tire in the same color for the rear, although the only option for a rear tire is the Agarro, which will certainly do a good job. I just don't know exactly whether it's an e-bike version or not and which color, I hope you can help me.

      Either would hold up great, but I'd PROB lean towards Mazza/Mazza front and rear if you ride Lynn/HP a lot and do some downhill and bike park on your Offering. I always lean towards a chunkier tire for more technical terrain for a bit more general protection on the rims/wheels and added traction. In 2019 we rode a V1 Following up at Kingdom Trails in VT for three days with a Barzo front and rear because the trails there arent too rocky (go figure?) and they did amazing for that trail network. That being said, a lot of stuff around us is a bit more rocky and based on our riding style, would prefer something with a bit more protective casing than a full on XC tire. We havent had a chance to test out the Syerra yet (hopefully soon!) but they look like a perfect middle ground between a Barzo and Agarro.

I did watch the Syerra introduction video and they rode some fairly gnarly stuff so it could be good enough at both ends but one review I watched said double Syerra washed out in the front, which leads me to think it would work better as a rear with the Agarro up front OR perhaps a less grippy rear like the Barzo would balance the Syerra on front. What I find interesting is how similar the Agarro and Syerra tread look other than knob height. If only I could just buy them all.

I think if you’re really aggressive and throw it over then it hooks up amazingly, but if you’re smoother and not so aggressive it can be intimidating to get to turn, so the Agarro/Syerra tread should be easier to grip in turns. Also, it does look like Vittoria is putting more effort into siping (sp?) and steps in the knobs.
