Nancy, thank you so much for this video. I bought a glimmer machine yesterday (after watching many videos over the last 2 years) my first attempts did not turn out well at all. However, thanks to your tip about taping the plates together and to the base, I have now successfully foiled.
I have been using this Hammermill paper for Copic coloring and foiling for a few years now. It is FABULOUS!!! It's just a superb all around paper for cardmaking. Love it love it love it!
Nancy, thanks to you and this video…I opened my Glimmer box and I’m successfully foiling! I’ve been looking at the box for over two years and I finally did it. There was definitely a learning curve concerning the shims. Finally settled on the clear plate and one cardstock shim and my Platinum 6. Thank you so much! 👍
I’ve been foiling before, but wanted to watch to get a refresh and definitely learned that I need to tape my plates together. Thanks for the video and sharing all your successes but also the failures!
Nancy, have a new unboxed machine. Question, after watching a number of your videos, I am interested in hot foiling sentiments mostly. How do you recommend keeping the sentiments evening lined up without moving???
There was a video where you mentioned where a friend of yours took the temp of each foiling machine..I cant find it , I thought it was this one. Do you recall what your friend said the Temps of each were?
I love your videos! Thank you for all the great info! I was able to find the hamermill paper in the 17x11 size on amazon. I know it is big, but it can be cut in half and you will have 8 1/2 x 11 pieces. Hope that is helpful to someone…love your videos…
I have a question about pressure. My Platinum 6 is fairly new as is my Glimmer. I just started experimenting with foil. I have a set of sentiments a tiny bit larger than the "beautiful" plate you used in the video. I cannot figure out how many shims to use. I consistently get underfoiling with these sentiments, but I also have the foiling plate actually cutting the fine lines of the serif on the sentiment as if too tight. Not sure what to do. I tried replacing the green shim with a cardstock shim, adding cardstock to the sandwich with the two Spellbinders shims etc. Is my sandwich too tight or too loose? I am confused. Underfoiling but cutting into the cardstock....
Dang, that's what I get for sleeping on the sofa. I love that red. Wow, that binder is great. I had an Art Bin but I didn't like it as much. Maybe a Stamp and Storage one? Don't they have a box with heavy magnet sheets
Do you not recommend Go Press and Foil machine? If so can you explain? I bought one of those quite a long time ago and hate to think I need to. Buy another machine. Your videos are so informative.
Hi Nancy! Thank you for the honest videos you always make, yours are the only hour long videos I watch lol. Few questions-I have used the WRMK foil quill foil and they have worked, would you recommend them? They are expensive though. Do you find that certain foil colors foil better, especially when you’re foiling something solid? I have noticed this with the gold and silver SB foil. Lastly, I wanted to see you use Pinkfresh’s solid hot foil plate because I am having trouble foiling solid colors (thus the foil color question), but I totally feel you in not investing in expensive products. Maybe someday 🙂. Thanks again, Nancy! Keep up the great content!
I haven't gotten the pink fresh solid plate yet. I have flipped over the other plates and used them. Bluebonnetfoilrgv is a better value for hot foil, but yes, you can use Foil Quill foil if you have it. Some fancier foils don't transfer as quickly if they have too much glitter in them. But it takes some experiments
I tried gemini paper hot foil on the glimmer to glimmer a sentiment strip and it didnt work for me as well as the spellbinders foil did- how do you get the gemini "forpaper" hot foil to work as well with spellbinders glimmer machine?
Thank You!

How do you recommend keeping the sentiments evening lined up without moving???
The hinge method which uses tape, or the Foiling Friend. You can download that from etsy

Glimmer = 244 degrees, Foilpress low = 173, Medium 183, high 200 degrees

If you don’t have this Hammermill “chameleon” paper, does the Hamilco we use for toner give equally good results with the glimmer?
Yes, Hamilco works great too.

Did you do a video on the go press and foil?
I gave it away, but here is a very old video I did on it: th-cam.com/video/8XE8TXw_8jA/w-d-xo.html

How do you have your phone screen showing on your TV? I need to do that. More questions as I watch the video

Same as the Glimmer. No need to buy another one. It works the same way.

Thank you! Btw, the washi tapes you’ve mentioned are from Daiso which is a Japanese dollar store (except items are $1.50).
Can you tell me if I can use machine with the Intri-cut?
Yes! Here's my video: th-cam.com/video/3OYdz_twW0E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4rpWn8naFtmO6Yn0
