Rinchan was local Balti Hindu King of Kashmir who took over reign from kota rani of lohara dynasty last hindu rulers of kashmir. Later Rinchan reverted to Islam after he meet Syed Sharif Ud Din Shah RA who was islamic missionary from turkistan. And that fort on hill in middle of the city was Mughal fort built by Afghan governer Atta Muhhamad Khan.
