    I have done shibori for a few years now, love pole wrapping silk scarves. I don't do the indigo dyeing method but use French heat set dye on the silk and procion on the cotton/rayon. I haven't done any shibori lately and after watching a few of your videos is giving me the itch to get back into it. My husband and I were set to go to Japan to visit our son who was stationed there (Airforce) but Covid hit 2 weeks before we were set to go, I had booked a day to go to a shibori place to learn how they do it. So sad we missed our trip of a lifetime, son is now home so no need to got here anymore.

    it's beautiful!! was wondering how would we wrap a bigger piece like around 3 meters? do we wrap over and over? and will we get the same result? thanks!

    • @OnyxArtStudios
      @OnyxArtStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can wrap a bigger piece too. I've never done 3 meters in this style before. I did around 2 meter in another video with a smaller pipe- it got more blue. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/UOanNFFRJlU/w-d-xo.html

    Why do you think the back of the pillow case hardly had a pattern or die to it? My
    Pieces come out the same way and I have soaked them overnight. I would appreciate your professional advice.

    • @OnyxArtStudios
      @OnyxArtStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I flashed dipped this linen pillow to keep the high contrast- so the fabric on the outside got the most dyed. You can also soak things for longer, of course. I personally like to dip quickly to keep the contrast as stark as I can. It's all a matter of preference.

      @@OnyxArtStudios I appreciate your response. Its nice to talk this all through especially when i am new to this but really love the product. do you think if i reduced the amount dye and water maybe making it a bit lighter - then a long dye bath would pattern the product on both sides?

    Hello, how long do you keep your material inside the indigo?

    • @OnyxArtStudios
      @OnyxArtStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I usually dip it for a just a few seconds- I know a lot of people do it longer, but for this one I wanted it to stay white on a lot of the fabric.

    Use a bottle to apply dye. Nice look also 😊

    • @OnyxArtStudios
      @OnyxArtStudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that would be good for procion dye- never tried it with real indigo. I always go with the vat for indigo
