I do greatly enjoy the great revival of Czerny's music especially the A minor Concerto, his Nonet and so many other rediscovered works. I feel that he has been unfairly criticized perhaps because his output was so extensive that he churned much out at speed. While he was very closely associated to Beethoven it was Hummel that seemed to have a greater influence on his compositions and certainly that of Chopin . We now have 4 choices of the A minor concerto 3 of them very new recordings which speaks for itself. The Viotti concerto is also a fine work but I confess not to be drawn to the concerto for piano duet in the same way which i first heard partnered with the magnificent and lovely concerto for piano in D by Ludwig Abeille. Check this out on line there are 2-3 versions available! SJM

Thanks! Although it needs to be added that chronologically, the A Minor concerto was Czerny's seventh piano concerto (if we include the concertino Op. 210).
I really enjoyed the Viotti G minor concerto. That one should be heard much more often. The concerto for violin and piano reminds me of Hummel's concerto for violin and piano. The Czerny concertos are nice to hear once in a while. My favorite Czerny compositions are his piano sonatas and his chamber music.

I know this may be heresy, but in a recording studio could a pianist play one part, then the other part, and have the engineer splice both tracks together?
