    There are no "bad" foods.
    Describing foods as "good" and "bad" is intellectually lazy. It breaks everything you eat into two categories and doesn't factor in how much of something you are consuming.
    Something being "bad" for you in excess doesn't mean it is bad for you in any quantity and certainly doesn't mean you need to feel guilty for eating it, something the fitness industry perpetuates.
    In this video, we discuss why "good" and "bad" food labels can possibly make diets harder to stick to as well as exacerbating eating disorders. We will discuss dichotomous thinking, dietary restraint and rigid and flexible dieting.

    Important subject. It’s not that easy to explain. Sometimes it’s ok for me to have bad foods and sometimes it leads me to binge eating.
    There is no science on long term weight loss success from morbidly obese people( none that I’m aware of) so it’s just anecdotal from me.
    Maybe it’s different for people who have been eating mostly junk food during their life. So eating junk again may trigger the bad habits back.
    Lost about 70kg (started 2 and a half years ago) and I’m doing my best to keep the fat off. I buy mostly low calorie dense foods but sometimes i need "bad foods".

    After 2 weeks of dieting i had my first binge episode again, hoping this video will help next time i have an urge to binge bc all the things he says are so accurate from someone with eds perspective

    I don't think people use the term "bad food" to signify food that is harmful, but worse in comparison with other foods when it comes to nutritional value, calorie amount etc..

    Depends on the indivuality of characteristics of each people's body. Yes you are 100% right. There are no bad foods, only foods that could be considered bad are people who have allergic reactions to certain types of foods. I'm allergic to shellfish, which would be considered healthy for others to consume on a daily basis, but rather a silent killer for me. Causes hives, Rajesh, and to the point of being hospitalised (twice!) That would be considered a bad food, for me, food group.

    I agree with what you say but I think that you look at things from the perspective of a person that deals with a lot of people with EDs. For example I used to smoke, I stopped because it is a bad for my health. One cigarette a week is probably not going to ruin my health but it is still bad for my health. The same thing with food, junk food is probably not going to kill you but it is good to recognise that it is probably not the best for you. Don't you think that these labels could be also useful? I know it is a complicated discussion. PS: I had pizza and ice cream yesterday 😂

    It's kind of annoying. People at my work know I'm into fitness. But whenever I eat the occasional cookie, I have to hear "I'm surprised to see you eating a cookie" and I'm thinking: why? How do you know what my nutrition plan is? Apparently, they honestly think I'm never going to have a single cookie ever again for the rest of my life. It's insane.
    Or if I turn down cake one day but then choose to have a rice krispy treat another day I hear "oh I thought you didn't like sweets" as though if I don't like one thing I also have to not like something else just because they in the same broad category. Hey, I like carrots but hate brussel sprouts but they are both veggies.
    It's simple, I eat what I like and don't eat what I don't like. I just watch my calories and get enough protein. Don't know why this is so hard for a lot of people to understand.

    Hmmm... I’m actually agree with you BUT someone who wants to build lean muscle mass, he has to watch his insulin spikes.
    So... consuming “sugar” and other high-GI foods during the day, isn’t helpful. You can... as your are watching your calories but you need to try more.

    Yes there are bad foods. And saturated fat is not bad. But human should avoid seed oils.

    Jesus Ben, all I’m hearing from your videos so far is that everyone else is a moron. It’s a bit negative/ off putting to be honest. Could I suggest more info on what we should do in positive way rather than complaining about the clueless idiots. You clearly know what you’re talking about so that’s what I’m keen to hear about.
    A favourite saying I like “If you don’t have anything positive to say about someone, don’t talk about them at all”. I think that’s the best way to be about the idiots on TH-cam. 👍
