- Acrylic pouring inspirational video! I’m so excited to be contributing to Rinske Douna’s Miracle Life Project.
Rinske and I connected over a similar experience, she invited me to contribute and we will be donating hundreds of prints to the NICU, where our little ones were born. Over the course of the next five weeks we will be exploring different ways to express our own experience with our premature little ones. I have followed you both for quite some time. I too had preemies. My 1st son was born at 30 weeks and I had an almost identical story as Rinske. My twins (b/g) were born at 32 weeks. Today my 1st son is 22 and a senior at the University of Delaware (US). My twins are seniors in high school and starting their college search. Both of your works have inspired me and now I think I’m going to paint with a different purpose. I would like to look into doing something similar for the hospital where my three were born. Thank you for sharing both your stories. It’s beautiful to feel the love you all have and wish to share with the world.

I was born a twin, 3 months premature, weighing 3lbs 3oz and delivered by emergency Csection. My twin, Dennis, died the day after we were born due to underdeveloped lungs. I came home when I was a whopping 5 lbs. I am now 66. I think with all the medical advances, my twin would probably have survived if we were born today. Bless you ladies. And bless all the mothers of premies. A happy note, I ended up having twins myself (only 2 weeks premature.) Love this project and love your work.

My daughter spent most of her first 3 years of life in Yorkhill Children's Hospital in Scotland ... sitting here feeling very emotional watching this ... thankyou for your beautiful art and beautiful heart 🧡🤱🏼

I was at the birth of my great grandson, 24weeks old, he gave all that he could but he didnt make it, but i meet him, held him and love him, our little Emerson is always with the family, and 15yrs later i still think about him and love him. Thank you Sara.
Oh my goodness, thank you for sharing this intimate loss. I’m so sorry. 24 weeks is so fragile. My girls could’ve come earlier than 28 weeks and I was very grateful to make it that far. Sending you healing light.💕
I love what you ladies are doing. I am a fellow artist who was born 3 months before my due date. I weighed in at 2 lbs 4 oz and went down to 1 lb 14 oz. I was in the hospital for almost 5 months before I got to join my family. During my incubator time I was given oxygen to keep me alive. In those days they did not cover the babies eyes. I am blind one one eye and partially in the other. I have two beautiful children of my own and I can only imagine the pain my parents experienced. I survived because God had a purpose for my life. I’m 71 and paint almost daily.

That is an amazing story! You are a miracle baby too! Outcomes were not always as lucky 70 years ago. You really must be a powerful soul!.
Hi Lynda. I was also born early at 2lbs1oz in 1956. My parents always said the doctors felt I wouldn't reach 6 months so to make the most of me; my eyesight isn't great either, I was born at home and never went to the hospital. I lost my mum recently at 98. We had such a precious love. I am a retired graphic artist/illustrator, with 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren. LIFE IS GOOD.

Sara your children are adorable.... and Rinske's wee boy stole my heart from his first moment.
I cannot imagine what you've been through... but I do know the fear... and the hospitals and doctors. I lost my 33 year old daughter last August to cervical cancer.
I recognize the need for support... for quiet strength when you think you cannot go on.
I salute you... and all like you... STRONG women who stand tall every single day, because that is what is to be done.

Every one of those births is a miracle. In 1957 at 2lbs 2 oz, I was one of those too. There wasn't the maternity leave there is now, and the stress of worry, fear, returning to work, and having to express milk and travel 45 min to the hospital daily was not easy. Incubator baby for 3 months, and 2 blood transfusions due to the RH factor later, I am here to tell the tale. It's a miracle every time a baby survives. My birth was not the joyful experience that followed a few years later when my sister was born. Hugs to all of the parents of preemies regardless of timespan.

My girls all love to paint! It is such a mess… Thankfully I have a messy room where we can get busy 😂. It’s amazing to start seeing yourself and your children. Such a joy.🙏

There is a magnetism of the feminine energy that truly emanates from this, all the earth tones, richness and loving peaceful energy, is just so MAGICAL& POWERFUL.
To me, the circles represent the circles of LiFe and all their meanings, but how these particularly signify the security while those babies are held within the womb (the larger circles), safe and secure; then the smaller ones, fragile and vulnerable (from without the womb), yet still, connected to the web of life and all those things sacred and great, which are awaiting through strength and healing from their frailties… May this project be surrounded w/many blessings for you ladies and bring comfort through your beautiful & talented artworks to many families enduring having to deal w/preemie babies. 👍👍👍💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏🌞🌞🌞❗️❗️❗️
You absolutely nailed the essence, and exactly what I was feeling when I created this piece! There’s a certain organic Vulnerability that was felt, it was actually a very healing experience, thinking about the trauma and what happened, it’s amazing we think we process things, but there’s always more.

I'm so touched by the artwork you are doing to help out. My eldest daughter was born 9 weeks early in 1978. She turns 43 in a few weeks. There wasn't much support in those days, I'm glad parents are getting the support they need when a premature baby is born.

If it wasn’t because my mom was a nurse were I was born not sure I’d grow up so healthy !
Beautiful painting and beautiful cause, my sons is premature as well, he was about 2.4 pounds 3 months early, so i can relate to the pressure and the need for the safety net in my nearest circle, not just for me and my little new on, but also for my 10 years old son, who could'nt stay with us at the hospital. it's great that you and Rinska have that connection, its important to have someone that can truly relate.

Wonderful project collaboration. A friend works in the NICU in Canada as a nurse and it is a difficult job. The roller coaster of emotions parents and family experience...there cannot be enough awareness spread.

I can’t even put into words to how this has touched me on such a personal level. All I can say is that every time I look at my son, I see the miracle he truly is. He literally drowned during a C-Section at birth and by a miracle they were able to revive him after several minutes. They whisked him away, so my first true encounter with my son after birth was when they wheeled my into the NIC and there he was in an incubator, with tubes coming out of him all over the place.
You and Rinske have created such a beautiful way in which to honor families who have walked this kind of path. Such a blessing each of you are. And your children are all beautiful beings of light. So incredibly precious they are.

Thanks for sharing your story, Sarah. My daughter and I as the Grandma went through the same experience. I moved in for six weeks to help out. The twins are a boy and a girl and are now eleven and strong and well.

Wonderful!! I love the idea. Life is amazing, but so fragile. It's s so important to stay connected with family. Your family is beautiful. My sister had her baby 6 weeks early. She was in NICU for over a month. My sweet and beautiful niece, Lexi, has a little bit of special needs but is doing well in college at 21 years old. I pray she finds a good man to love. She is awesome and so are you! I love watching you work. I'm an acrylic artist and I'm just starting to learn about fluid art.

3 of my babies were premature, my 1st was 6 weeks early, but boy was he strong 😁. The other 2 were 4 and then 2 weeks early, so not too bad. Fortunately all of them were pretty much developed as far as lungs and other internal organs(what a blessing that was) My eldest had a few physical problems growing up that stems from premature births, but even those weren't too bad, so we were blessed compared to what others go through
