Permanent Mandibular Canine | Tooth Morphology

  • In this video lecture we have described the timeline of development of the mandibular canine tooth that includes initial calcification of the tooth, crown completion, age of eruption and root completion. We also described the number of the canine in three tooth numbering systems (Universal, Palmer and FDI tooth numbering systems. We have also described in detail the morphology and key identification features of the mandibular canine from all aspects.

    I have a question! The apex of the root would be distally curved , Right? Why in labial and Lingual aspect the root is mesially ?

      Thank you for asking questions.
      Yes usually curvatures are towards distal aspect but this is not always a rule. We identified tooth and it's orientation based on two or three features.

    The distal aspect photo is the wrong one😅 (it's the same as the mesial one)
