Great update, Chris ! Sorry about your Ki Utsuri. I know your problem with the wind. Western Australia is a windy place as well and our last place was windy almost every day. Now it is much better cause we sit in a valley surrounded by trees. 👍😎
Omg Chris, I’m so very sorry you lost your beloved Ki Utsuri 😢😭❤️ Hoping all the other fish can survive all that neighboring farms’ chemicals coming into your pond. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm so sorry about your Ki Utsuri. Losing a fish is such a bad feeling. I too have an algae problem and can't see the fish until they come up. 20+ years keeping koi and never had algae this bad for this long. I discovered the pump was shutting off periodically and draining dirty water from the filters back into the pond! We moved last year so this is a new pond with temporary everything so no check valve. I replaced the pump and installed the check valve and have been doing big water changes, using bacteria and barley extract, backwashing filters every day, put up a reflective tarp over the entire pond and still algae. Today I put some clay in there hoping that will let the filters catch the algae. I have algaecide as a last resort. I don't want to hook up the uv until the algae clears up some to let me know things are getting back to balance. I hope your pond gets back to normal sooner rather than later and your fishies all come out just fine.
Thank you for the kind words. I sure hope your pond finally clears up. I don't know what it is about this year, but I found out that even my old pond, which I sold with my house, has algae really bad. That pond never has an algae issue once it matured, so something is going on this year for sure.
Yes, I see the fish better now so it looks to be working but I'm 😢sad she didn't make it 😢 😔 I hope this keeps all the others good and healthy. I hope you figure out a solution; that's what I was thinking, something that could cover up the pond when there's bad weather like that 😢 Big Hugs 🫂 🤗 Stay sweet ❤
Oh so sorry to hear of your beautiful fish. It's been a bad year with that horrible storms and dust and crap off farmers field. Maybe make a big fence or use some bales of hay to block wind
If you focus on enhancing the movement, swimming and ultimately feeding behavior of KOI as we do, as a top priority, you will improve the circulation environment of the entire pond!

@@sweetkoiyo Yes, this year is bad. If you follow Colleen Penny from Canada, she's been battling algae too way up there.
I am so sorry about the koi. I was worried about that when I saw her hanging around the filter
You can only do your best
Thoughts are with you

Yeah, we're going to get covers for next spring. It's only a problem in the spring. Thank you for your kind words Colleen ❤️
Sorry about your Ki Utsuri 😢
sad times but things will get better
Great update Chris 👍
It's always terrible when we lose fish, sorry for your loss though.
@@lifearoundthekoipond2283 thank you Jamie
So sorry you lost her, she was beautiful and presumably you've had her a long time.
No, she was bought a couple months back, so I really don't think she could handle our harsh conditions here on the farm.
@sweetkoiyo oh no! I'm so sorry Chris. I get upset losing even a tiny fish.
Sorry about the Ki Utsuri, I understand the problems you face dealing with wind in a such an open area.

I didn't realize you lost her. I can't say anything much. I can say that I ask us to bless the water. 🙏
