    Bought the silver dial quartz version at the Tissot flagship store in NYC. It’s a beautiful watch, reminds me of the Oysterquartz. After many mechanical watches, this Tissot became my first quartz purchase.

    I love the look of the design of the modern retro 80's PRX, either quartz battery or mechanical. If I had to choose one it would be the blue dial but by only a small margin, the mechanical waffle version over the quartz flat version. This is definitely a great watch for daily office wear and out and about. The beauty of the mechanical is that just wind it, set it and wear it, no battery worries here but you will have to set it more often than the quartz one.

    Called Tissot AD in my town yesterday to call me when quartz version arrives. I must say after few years of mechanical watches I am going back to quartz. In my job accuracy is important so I got tired to use mobile phone or laptop to see exact time when I am working. End Of Life function on quartz Is also great feature.

    Nice comparison on quartz vs mechanical. while the quartz makes logical sense over the powermatic, I’d have to go with the latter. The waffle pattern really made the watch for me. The other a bit too plain, but at $375 what a cool design and execution. I’m waiting for my FC Highlife red bar edition though I haven’t seen it in person. Any comments?

    After watching several videos and pictures of this on different sized wrists, I believe wrist flatness has a lot to do with how this will fit. I saw a video of this on a 6.5” flat wrist and it looked awesome, and then a picture of it on a more round 7” wrist and it looked awful. I even saw a picture of it on a flat 6.25” wrist and it looked great.
    I have a 6.75” wrist more on the flater side of things, so I’m going to role the dice and buy this. I’ve been looking at watches with Genta-esque bracelets for a couple of years now, starting with the Laureato and Zenith Defy Classic. I’m so glad Tissot produced this watch so now I can do a test drive with this style bracelet without spending thousands.
    Thanks for the insightful, friendly, and professional review!

    I bought the Powermatic rubber bank and love it. Good everyday beater that still signals sensibility. My other watches are at a higher price point where scratches, an impromptu dip in the ocean, showering, working out etc would muck them up. I feel like I can wear this watch anywhere in my regular routine and switch out to my dress watch or conversation starters or my watches that signal status when required. Fun, low maintenance, respectable watch. One of my favorites...would recommend to friend or stranger. I've thought about buying the steel band just for variety but not a huge fan of steel bands.

    Hi Teddy, I’ve been looking into the PRX80 for a while now, and today I purchased one. Very happy would be an understatement. I’ve got (what I feel) is a great collection of time pieces but this one I’ve been most excited about and at a fraction of what the others have cost me. It speaks for itself - in house movement, 80 hours reserve, wears like a 42mm, looks the part and above all feels great on my wrist.
    Thanks for the great videos and content, keep up the great and informative work! Jared

  • @ThePlaiibox
    @ThePlaiibox 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    I love both versions but for me, the quartz is more aligned to the late 70's and early 80s aesthetic making the watch feel horologically period correct.
    Auto is great too but just seems a bit more out on its own.

    • @nicerides9224

      I've tried on the black quartz version and if I wasn't waiting on the blue auto I'd have bought it on the spot. It's really nice and the subtle vertical brushing on the dial looks classy. I saw the blue quartz version today and maybe the lighting wasn't great but it just wasn't as good as the black one.
      As someone pointed out on a watch forum the prx looks a lot like the rolex oyster quartz. Which itself is probably just a Genta homage as well.

    I got the quartz white (really silver) dial, and I was surprised how well it reads in all light, one thing I was afraid of is a lack of any anti-reflective coating but it sure looks like there is some to me...... Like some other reviews, mine bought from Tissot official dealer has misalignment on the seconds hand but only from 55-59 which for me is not acceptible per se' but i can deal with it at this price point.
    Love the white dial, didn't bother with the automatic since I have an 15000ST already and just want a watch I can wear in ALL situations without worrying about losing my kid's college tuition from my wrist. I would recommend it.

    Hi Teddy, great review. I guess now having a choice of quartz or mechanical at their respective price points is a good thing but also a dilemma regarding vfm. I like the styling of this watch, definitely retro as opposed to an AP or Nautilus which are still current design classics. This design while harking back to the 70's reminds me of the Zenith Defy (a positive). It's worth noting that both Rotary and Ingersoll offer another twist on Genta design in mechanical versions at an even cheaper price point.

    I originally didn't like the initial photos I saw of the Powermatic 80 version, but I was wrong. Oh so wrong. I want the Powermatic 80 version instead of the quartz, and the price is definitely better than I expected as well. I was guessing it would be $750. The size even looks great on the smaller wrists shown. It will work well on my 7.25" wrist.

    I can’t decide between the black & blue dial. Blue pops a little bit more but i wear a lot of black

    How long will this watch last? Like how many years

      It depends on who uses it, but if you taken care of it crosses generations, Tissot is a centenary brand with so much quality

    I think it will be a great to compare the PRX with the Gentleman.

    Teddy, any advice on how to handle a situation where you’re wearing the PRX Aut waffle blue dial in front of a person wearing an AP? I just bought this piece and am in love with it.

    the first thing that comes to mind, is the Zenith Defy

    • @blubb7711
      @blubb7711 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the standart Defy Classic is a hard sell at 4500€ on the market, compared to 660€. But the Zenith also has a skeleton version for 5500€ on the market, which is a great value.

    Just started watching your channel and what brought me to your channel was the Tissot prx what an absolute bargain of a watch really nice. My question to you is what is the timing like on this watch? Its accuracy? And if I was to purchase a watch like this and in this price range what other pieces/brands would you recommend to look at?

    I really love the PRX. Not that keen on the waffle dial so it would be the quartz for me. Great bang for buck plus same case and bracelet, makes a lot of sense ooh thinner too. BONUS 👍😁

    What makes this watch cheaper than the tissot gentleman is that this one doesn’t include the silicium hair spring

    top notch watch for it's price IF they also make a 36/37/38mm case.
    With it's integrated bracelet the watch wears too big with a 40mm case for my taste

    I often compare this watch to others of that same style from more luxurious watch houses, like The Rolex Oyster Oyster Perpetual or the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. It seems many watch makers have to have a version of this classic looking, in-bracelet watch with its simple three hand, date, minimalistic dial, with a date number complication. But I often wonder what this Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 doesn’t have in practicality that the more expensive brands offer with their versions, except for the name. In practical terms, all the marks check in both sides, with the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 even exceeding many others in terms of power reserve.
    For this price, feature-per-dollar, the Tissot beats them all. Of course, if you can afford a a Rolex Oyster Perpetual and can find it, then get it. But I warn you, except for the name, and therefore investment value retention, both watches would look almost identical from across the dinner table.
