Thanks for the info on the loco - I couldn't see the 'hood' and hence wondered if the video camera had been mounted just inside/outside a TU2 cab. Are any TU2's still operational - particularly in Latvia or Ukraine (I understand they were pulling passenger and frieght trains up to at least a few years ago?). Mike
There is one operational TU2 in Latvia, not sure if they are using it though. TU2's are used everywhere in Ukraine - On Vinogradovo line, in Gaivoron, in Antonovka. Also on some children railways (Uzhgorod, Lvov, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Rivne, Zaporožhe etc)
Сухой песок, чтобы по скольким от травы рельсам не боксовал. Вообще-то в локомотиве ЭСУ есть для этого бункер с песком. Нажал на педаль и песок воздухом выдувается под колеса. Видимо, здесь это не исправно.
WOW, I like this railway. Will it survive? Was that the extent of the line ?, or does it carry on further? Where is it on Google Earth? Looks a bit isolated, what is the peat used for? a vast amount seems to be available, Anyway very interesting video, thanks for sharing. Where can I find more information please.
Peat is used to make briquette and that is used as fuel. Also can be used as fertilizer. The railway is almost dead, traffic is only during one month in the year. IT used to bloom much much more. There is one connecting track track goes from the middle of the line back to the start. It is like a circle. The video starts here 58.520417,24.347499 and ends here 58.572247,24.38928. It used to go here 58.572247,24.38928. You can still see some places where the track is still remaining on google maps, in reality it was dismantled in 2009, traffic on that 30 km line was closed in 2007
diiselrong Many thanks for that information. At the start of the video, the train seems to be leaving a form of station or storage sidings, is it intended to preserve this line if it's possible? Kevin.
Kevin Dickinson The trip starts at a museum: www.museumrailway.ee/ and the track is used during the season every weekend until to the switch where the track turns right across the road. From there on there is no traffic (as you can see from the grass). Rest of the network is owned by the peat industry so no one really knows what will happen to it You can check out my playlist "УЖД: Узкоколейная железная дорога / Narrow gauge railway" for more videos from that museum.
diiselrong Thanks again for the information. Glad to hear that you guys are keeping things going, at least you won't be short of spare's for any repair that you might need. Last question, Did you make the trip to pick up something at the end of the line, or to make the video? Kind regards Kevin

+skoko1945 Some of the switches and tracks are temporary. They are built for hauling peat from a location and once there is no peat left, the track is demolished. For example like this - scontent-arn2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/t31.0-8/1146297_10201774326300978_1037285637_o.jpg
