a few years ago my dad passed away. no one told me until about 2 months later. when he died i was in foster care, and when i came back home to my mom, i cried for 3 weeks because my other siblings got to see their dad's but i litterally couldn't. about 6 months pass and my mom plays this for me. she tells me that when she was pregnant with me, my dad would play this for her. we cried tigether for 20 minutes, but i cried by myself for another 20 minutes after that. they cremated him. i never went to his funeral. or got his ashes. a few months ago, i lost his obituary in a storage my mom had. the closest i can get to him is this song, so everytime i listen to it, i cry. i've been listening to this on loop for abt 15 minutes. it is currently 2:30 am.

I recently gave birth to my second child, my first daughter, as I was getting her ready for the day she was a little fussy my younger brother was playing music and this song came on and she went quiet listening to the song so I started to sing it to her. It was such a precious moment for me. Growing up we try to learn what love really is and although our pasts whether it be bad lovers or unresolved traumas or unhealed childhood traumas they create an obstacle for us in our pursuit to figuring out what love really means, we slowly overcome those obstacles and realize what we want for ourselves and how it reflects onto others. And so in that moment of staring at my daughter in awe while this song is playing I started to cry, although it has taken me some years to figure it out myself I finally realize what love means to me, and how my children teach me how to love, and how my love for them teaches me to be patient and kind, and how I just want nothing but the best for my beautiful baby girl, and how I always want to show her the love and support she needs so she doesn’t have to wonder or “sit in a corner” tryna figure out how to love.
