- So it's been a long while since last time I posted, and I know I've been very inactive on the channel, but I realized my first episode on the series was absolutely terrible, so I've redone it and hopefully you all can understand whats happening this time.

FOR PEOPLE WHO DON't KNOW HOW TO WORK THE CUTTING TOOL: 1. Select the cliping tool and wall, 2. You make the line with the tool on the wall, 3. do Shift+x until you see the wall turn white on the top right camera, 3.5. hit enter, 4. make another line with the tool on the wall, 5. hit enter, scale down the cutout to your liking. I'm not sure how I found it out but I did I guess
but when i make a line with the cutting tool, it just cuts. messes everything up entirely, it cuts everything EXCEPT the triangle piece im trying to cut off to make a pointed roof
hah nevermind i figured it out in an extremely roundabout way, thank you for the assist, im super new to this stuff
Fun fact: if you're using gmod textures people who play dont need to download anything else gmod.

I made a dev textured trade center, where you defend the towers from an army of antlions. That’s all there is to it. There’s weapons and ammo, and a medkit placed in random places. Now I just need to figure out how to upload

Dude can you please explain how exactly you cut off some pieces of the wall? If Im cutting off something it just marks the whole wall... Do you press any keys? (sry for mistakes, i am from Germany)

My first map was so terrible lol i couldnt figure out doors or a skybox so i made a thing over the top of the box and gave it a sky texture

Hey so as I'm choosing my textures and laying down the outline for my map I'm not seeing anything appear in the top left box. There isn't an outline or anything, I'm not quite sure why being as I've followed your guide exactly as you show yet this issue still persists. Any ideas?
Make sure your in the build blocks tool (the white block on the left)

Great video, I watched it and in the same day have created some abominations.
this is so incredibly easy it's mindblowing.
Whenever I actually play my game, is gives me a screen saying nodes rebuilding or something, them when that disappears, It's just a black screen with my item in the corner... And when I turn on my flashlight, the blackness goes pure white.
yeah, but can you port a map model from another game (ex. wave ocean from sonic 06) though?
I'm lost.
I exported the game and saved it but when I exported it came out as two files, .vmf and .vmx.
The problem with that is that I don't know where to put it. Because every file has .ain and some others in them.
What do I do? Where do I put them?
i'm following every step but somehow when i go onto a new file it has this yellow cube and I'm not sure how to get rid of it, please tell me how to

This was a great tutorial. Although i am curious if it is possible to take maps from the files of other games and import them into gmod? I have been wanting to take some of the multiplayer maps from halo combat evolved and put them into gmod for a while now.
If the other game is made in the Source game engine it might be easier, but the only supported way is by recreating it by hand.
how can i do tiny steps? wanna have some space between street and the sidewalk and also how i can do windows i can look through

Thanks for tutorials but I have one thing that does not work. And even when I search for it I didn't find any answers. My "func_button"s menu does not have output or input settings in properties, if any of you guys have a solution of it I will be very appreciated.
I don't know what is wrong with my Hammer.
When I go to File> New> there are no black boxes.
Am I missing an SDK or something?

Every time I press enter, the wall, floor, etc I tried creating disappears. It just goes away.
Also You Can Use The Source SDK In The Steam Library "Tools" Section But Its Way Harder To Set Up...

When I open a new map I get a block with a no draw texture and when I try to create a new one it won't even appear when I press enter. Even the outline doesn't appear when I'm making it. Help?
