"The 'bend' in the guitar is very yearning." That's it! I've been waiting for someone to address that guitar slide. I've been struggling with how to describe it and you nailed it. It sounds so 80s/90s to me. It adds to the nostalgia feeling overall, in fact for me, that sound was very powerful.

"On the street" is definitely that song for me. From the production, lyrics, and melody to the vibe, message, and thoughts behind it, man this song is freaking solid and well-made. Knowing how hip-hop has disadvantages compared to pop/r&b to get through to listeners, Hobi is doing a great job tbh. and it ended up a real awesome lofi hip-hop song indeed. By far my favorite release of 2023.
A couple of Easter eggs: the alley in the first shots is the same one from J.Cole’s mv SIMBA & the subway exit jhope walks out of is the Bowery Entrance J-Z subway JayZ took his name from.
