Thanks! Your video had the best version of this tutorial, and was the easiest to actually *see* while sewing. Plus it happens to have been posted on my birthday, so extra awesome!
YES finally thanks for the video I really needed it because all the buttons on my jacket fell and my moms not here to do it for me so thanks soooo much!
Thank you! I got some of those shank buttons for my Katherine McBride cosplay and I'm a begginer at sewing! This video helped a lot and I sewed my first button and I'm pretty dang proud of it! :D
Professional technique for sewing on a shank button is to put a small, flat button on the opposite (underneath) side. This holds the shank button firmly in place and prevents the heaviness of the shank from tearing the fabric after much usage.
Thank you much madame. Just some kickass buttons to replace my bland ones for my trench coat. Didn't realize I ordered shank buttons though. Helped alot.
x x Sew a small, flat button to the underside of the garment so that the shank button is sewn to the smaller button. It will hold the shank button flat; otherwise, the weight and position of the shank button will eventually tear the fabric because it will droop downward. Also, lightweight fabrics are better off with flat, regular buttons. Use shank buttons on coats and heavier weight fabrics and always stabilize the opposite side with a smaller, flat button. Just my opinion, but this is professional technique I describe.😊
