At LACS5, they brought in Skyjay to fight against Cody Schwab, Zain, aMSa, and Salt to see if any of them have what it takes to take down a titan in the Ultimate scene!

Watching this event has helped me identify other melee players while I’m playing ultimate online now. Found a fox on elite that rematched me for 20 losses in a row that refused to air dodge or not side-b directly to ledge, but they had the heart of a warrior and eventually changed their gameplay bit by bit and won a match because of it. Shoutouts to Richie if you’re out there man

the lucina gameplay is so funny. He's doing marth thing, fsmash and dtilts, its the most melee gameplay ive ever seen in ultimate
It's kind of jarring to see how slow the movements of Melee pros are in Ultimate. When you watch Melee players with their quick and precise movements, and then switch to Ultimate, things feel a bit clunky.
Ultimate does suffer from 6 frames of input delay and has excessive buffering.
Melee movement just doesn't transfer to other games. It's too specific, making melee players the worst fighting game players in general. No crossover.

melee is a much less "never played the game before" friendly game, its also very easy to get completely washed especially by top players because recoveries are so much worse

This is worst-case scenario for Melee transfers. Not being used to Ultimate's engine causes lots of mistakes - and Incineroar is the KING of punishing mistakes

I think it'd be fun to take a melee player who's never touched ultimate, but give them a melee character that plays exactly like melee lile there's 1 character from hdr and it's fox on alt 3.
So they know what they're doing and ult players know what they're doing, but it's balanced by melee players having what's probably a better character but having no idea what they're fighting
But the problem is the Ult player also doesn't know what they're fighting
You mean melee fox vs ultimate characters?
Wouldn't be pretty. If the melee character had the controls and physics of melee I'm pretty sure all Ultimate characters would get overwhelmed by a professional melee fox since he just would be too fast. This also assumes the knockback and hitstun also transfers over allowing Fox to combo like in melee.

Zains actually fundamentally better.
Doesn't matter what game you play. If you put beginners or people with novice experience vs a professional they will always get bodied.

Well the fact that ultimate buffer exists messes them up; ultimate has a very generous buffer system and more input delay, so they won’t be able to fully utilise it.

@@KandiKid87 you're tripping, melee is way faster. melee rewards rushdown and is terrible for camping (opposite of ultimate which is neutral focused), and the tech skill is several times harder; marss has said himself that melee destroys your hands because of how many inputs you need to do, and the commentators in this video mention ult's endlag at 1:35

Salt is probably the fastest falcon player at top level she's insane, in 2022 she went game 5 with loads of players like zain plup and Leffen, and this year she seems to be breaking into that top level having won a tournament over Llod
