Maybe the fish see that bright orange rod. Get rid of that thing. Get a dark gray or black rod. Go stealth mode. When i go fishing and am in trophy hunter mode, i get camoed and "skyed out". I wear clothes and hat that matches what a striper would see if he looked up at the shoreline from 30 ft out in the river or lake. (Ignore the profile pic bright blue shirt. Wasnt trophy hunting that day) Cloud and sky colors, browns and tans and greens and blues, colors that blend. Youd be amazed what movement and colors fish can see from way out in the water. Also banging shit all over the shoreline, walking heavy footed, they can hear see and feel all kinds of activity. Im a trophy striper chaser and boatless, so ive perfected the art of stalking the shoreline along rivers and lakes pretty quietly. Try that method. Some of the biggest stripers ive ever caught ( 50 pounders, 5 of them in 65 years) were 10 ft off the bank , shoreline or beach.
