Covid took my mother three months ago. I live in a different country, so hadn't met her in a year and a half before she passed. Late last year, on her birthday, I sent her this song. She was a rather reserved person, but she responded saying the song brought a tear to her eye. A few minutes later she tried calling me, but I didn't pick up... I had a complicated relationship with her, full of deep love, but also anxiety (I'm queer and she's religious). I just couldn't pick up. Maybe it could have been a tender moment for us. I'll never know. I'm just sitting here, thinking about the time that slipped, and missing my mother.

Lost my mother when I was 6 and I remember not crying at her funeral or when I was told she had passed, being a kid I thought it's okay I'll see soon.. man 14 years later I'm about to turn 21. and I can't stop thinking and crying about her and i know that "soon" is whenever my time is up.
