Wow, fascinating painting demonstration. Not only are you an amazing artist, you're courageous too! Repainting the model's face had to be a difficult decision. Once you began the process, there was no going back! Thanks for sharing.
Indeed, I found both models just as interesting as the other one, but I thought it was worth the experience... Thanks for watching for the love of it all!
Great work as always Isabel and congratulations for having the courage to re-model your original painting. In watching the video I can see what the initial areas of concern were; just by softening the high cheekbones, making her face narrower by using darker colouring and re-contouring the chin made such a difference. I didn't think the eyes required reworking as they were already OK. One thing I did notice is that in the original painting the eyes and mouth were tilted at the same angle whereas in the newer version the face is at a certain angle but the mouth is more horizontal. If you compare the distance of nostrils to corner of the mouth (13:45) you'll see that HER left side is longer than the right thereby causing the mouth to drop lower. Anyway, it's just a little observation and isn't intended as a serious critique. I do realise that no face is perfectly symmetrical anyway! With much respect and ongoing admiration, Nick Harvey
As always, Nick, I enjoyed reading your commentary. I invested so many hours in this painting, I couldn't bring myself to see it fall into oblivion. Since my interest in the photo reference was more about the colors and context than the model itself, I wanted to give it a try and experience the change. I'm glad to see that several people reacted positively to my approach. Thank you for your support.
@@IsabelleRichardArt Isabel the pleasure is all mine and again I say that your work is just so very beautiful. Do us all a big favour and don't get Coronavirus; stay safe! Nick
Another great piece of work Isabelle. I have enjoyed many of your videos. I do agree with Nick though. The mouth seems out of line with the nose and eyes.
I am glad you like it Keya! In this case, because of the multiple details of the fabric of the clothes and the wall covering, it took a full month to complete the painting.

I think it was worth a try Fred! Moreover, it allows me to see the reaction of people and it is very instructive for my future work...

Will do.
Big improvement..... removed dark eye socket shadows, removed cheek shadows in light, shortened nose, shortened face, and widened jaw.
