    I myself am not a drinker so when I stumbled across your channel is was rather iffy, but I am glad I subbed. In the few videos I have so far watched I have gained some insight on how to run a game better and how to treat the game world itself. Thank you, and keep on rolling.

    Me and my friends are having our 2nd session of DnD ever tomorrow and your videos inspire me to be the best I can be. You seem to be a very passionate person and I truly appreciate that, not many people have that level of passion for something. I've always wanted to play this since I was a child (21 now) and I finally am getting the opportunity. Here's to the future and thanks for your videos they mean a lot.

    I'm not always sure what I've watched here, but there is gaming insights, philosophical narrative (heartfelt), Limes as currency and sometimes a touch of what I would describe as a touch of Mighty Boosch - like right at the end... It all went a bit 'Howard Moon'. Great stuff.

    Well done. I have been DM since I was a kid in the 80s. Usually I keep a folder full of this kind of stuff. I never though of just using a premade book or journal to keep each campaign organized. Well done. I plan to start mine tonight. Especially nice for those times when ideas just pop in my head and I can pencil them in and pull from those ideas later. I am subscribing after seeing this vid. Great channel. Also too many times I come across games that are drowned in rules and semantics. It's nice to see other players who understand its about getting together and having fun. Not about following every rule to the tee. Keep up the great work brother.

    To any of the DMs out there looking for inspiration for a challenging session for your players.
    Canibal forest gnomes. They look cute and cuddly, but then you realize they are intelligent trap makers with the minor illusion cantrip at will.
    Players get trapped on an island with these things and they will never trust any boulders spot of ground rock wall, barrel of ale again any of them could have a gnome waiting nearby with sharpened teeth waiting to nom some fingers.

    I am pleasantly surprised every time I watch one of your videos. I wish you lived in the suburbs of Chicago- my weekly group would love to have you guest DM -All the booze you can drink of course! Kidding aside, your artistic talent in your notebook is ...erm...noteworthy.
    I myself have been playing and DM'ing since high school in the late 80's and into the Marine Corps in the early 90's- yup, I am old.
    I spend a ton of time on painting the miniatures, and would consider my terrain and props weak. I will use some of your guidance on these to help raise the bar.
    Keep up the good work, and if you plan on going to GenCon this year- let me know I will buy you a few shots!

    Wow, another video that knocks me over. I too see RPGs as a "cultural movement" as you put it, people want to tell their own stories to their friends and loved ones, or travel table to table to meet other story tellers like the bards of old traveled town to town to bring the news. Good work

    Hi, love your videos. This is just a suggestion but your camera is very slow to focus, which can be good but it takes aaaages for the camera to focus on your books or small details that you show the camera. This means we only get a tiny glimpse of the content clear on the screen before you take it away. The slow focus is good so that the depth doesnt jump around, but if you could somehow speed up the transition a little it will help when you show the camera something. Let me know with replies or thumbs if it is just me or if others agree. Cheers mate.

    At 8:40 you are talking about Monster A.I., scripting the actions and reactions to situations and such. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) perhaps have that fleshed out somewhere? It sounds like it would give encounters a more organic feel to them and speed them up as well.

    Say man, I noticed you mentioned heading down to Portland, are you in the Pacific Northwest? If so, are you familiar with Odin brewing company? They brew a mean batch.

    I recently was inspired and got a fancy-lookin' book (I think it's supposed to be a journal in its intended non-badass use) to put DM notes and stuff for an upcoming campaign in. How the hell do you draw a map across 2 pages like that? Did you draft it on 8.5 by 11 first or just exercise all the caution of a goblin space program and go straight in with the pen and hope you didn't make any mistakes or decide to change stuff later?

    I know this video is from nearly three years ago now, but I've gotta ask: are you, by any chance, a fan of Michael Kirkbride?
    Your art-style reminds me somewhat of his.

  • @jomacatopa
    @jomacatopa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't understand how you could write all this directly in pen on a notebook. I have it all in my head and on onenote. My campaign changes at every moment it never stays the same thing for long. How do you do that?

    • @Runehammer1
      @Runehammer1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the notes arent the game...they are only the reminders of the STANCE

      Also, any tips on how to create monster AI? Cause it is actually a really cool thing that I want to start doing but I am kind of stumped. Thanks for all ou are doing, it is really awesome.

    • @Runehammer1
      @Runehammer1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's really just an action chart...it only becomes AI if you use dice to run teh branches of that action chart....just start with a monster that has a 3 action cycle

    • @Runehammer1
      @Runehammer1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just figure out a half dozen actions, sequence them...
