That's a stupid idea...that's why thousands of people die in a car accident in America every month or at least every year, 'cause of people like you..😂😅
That's a good song to hear every once in a while. Seems to summarize my late teens very well. In fact, I think I wanted to cover it in my band, but none of the others were into it.
this song speaks of my life as a 61 year old single black woman in MN. All i have is my dreams. They are so much better than my reality. Tom was awesome
While recovering from a bad bout of cancer, wanting so desperately to Drive my new Caddy, but I was bed ridden. I worked hard w rehab and started to make promises to myself. If I could get strong again I would reward myself w a Car of my youth. I had a 1971 Corvette in the 70s. I fixated on a 1977 coupe all fixed up. I have my Dream 77 Corvette after 8 yrs of planning. I had a dream that I was with a group alot like Scooby Doo and we had solved mysteries. We were sitting at someone's house just chilling and having fun hanging out. When I started waking up, we all realized that I was the only real person and they were my imagination. We all hugged as the dream slowly faded out and they said they would miss me. One of my favorite dreams.
I first heard the beginning of this song in the PBS NOVA episode "Rise of the Mammals". It was pretty cool catchy song. I came here and heard the song fully for the first time, and I love it! This is a song anyone have to play when they're on long road trips. :)

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down I had the radio on, I was drivin' Trees went by, me and Del were singin' Little Runaway I was flyin' Yeah, runnin' down a dream That never would come to me Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads Runnin' down a dream I felt so good, like anything was possible Hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes The last three days the rain was unstoppable It was always cold, no sunshine Yeah, runnin' down a dream That never would come to me Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads Runnin' down a dream I rolled on, the sky grew dark I put the pedal down to make some time There's something good waitin' down this road I'm pickin' up whatever's mine I'm runnin' down a dream That never would come to me Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads Runnin' down a dream Yeah, I'm runnin' down a dream That never would come to me Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads I'm runnin' down a dream
R.I.P. Petty. Before he passed , I never knew or even suspected that he was using heroin. But now listening closely, maybe more so than previously, I can hear tons of references and analogies to using…as subtle as they may sometimes be. But being an addict myself, well an addict with 11 years or so of sobriety…. I try not to count the days. Anyway, it allowed me to pick up on simple cues that he threw into his lyrics. One example is that song were he mentions “waiting is the hardest part”. When you are in the grips of heroin use and you are starting to withdraw the waiting for your dealer is an eternity. However I could be totally off base here. This song too as he mentions that he is driving and singing and the sun is out and he is just carelessly running down a never ending dream and anything is possible. That is how wonderful it makes you feel. Plus he mentions going to pick something up I recall. Not sure what it is but I have an idea. Anyway I’m not going to write a book here I’ve gabbed long enough. That is just my own personal take. God bless you Tom Petty.
I saw him at the Austin music festival! (ACL) and Great show! It was pouring down rain and he intially cancelled, but then he came back on stage and said this weather and just rocked it for the rest of his time. Gave me a whole new respect for him and his music!! From Austin, it also showed up in the papers everywhere. He is/was one cool dude!!
"Trees went by, me and Dale were singing." When you realize Tom Petty is the voice actor for Lucky in King of the Hill, and there's a character on there named Dale Gribble, and you find out that both actors passed away. Well, now they're running down a dream together.
Ive been told 3 times this week that I look like Tom Petty. Even my first wife thought so. I can't help but take it as a compliment albeit I never really saw it myself. But to be half as cool would be a honor of all compliments.

Ah dude!!
That's so cool🥰😊
That sounds really wholesome and fulfilling man
It seems like with that level of understanding, that you all could find away to remain friends.
It’s so weird because I think of Scooby Doo when I hear this song. Could just be as simple as the mention of “working on a mystery”. Probably is.

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin'
Trees went by, me and Del were singin'
Little Runaway
I was flyin'
Yeah, runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream
I felt so good, like anything was possible
Hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was unstoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine
Yeah, runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream
I rolled on, the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There's something good waitin' down this road
I'm pickin' up whatever's mine
I'm runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream
Yeah, I'm runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
I'm runnin' down a dream
