VERY DISAPPOINTED this isn't a video hating on all the "issus" with battles which is what I read
Even though it's still just a dumb AI from an oldish game, it put up a good fight there, for AI standards in Total war. It tried to take initiative, which is uncommon, made a nice cavalry attack and tried to attack you instead of waiting (even though troops started to fuck around once they were in the river) and they actually tried to flank your line of spears with their infantry.
Didn`t play Alexander DLC for ages, but as I remember it is a script that Darius is routing when most of his army is rekt. LOTW as good as always. GJ!
p.s this was "clear victory" and the voice said "this is a heroic victory worthy of greek soldiers" LOL

Great guide! Managed to beat it with ease after watching. Took only 168 losses and killed most of the Persian army.
The legend of the Gordian Knot is true, but not the end result. Alexandre would not do something so disrespectful. Being as keen as he was whilst a child & when he noticed the shadow spooking Bucephalus, Alexandre noted that the Knot anchored to a wagon cart. He removed the axle, found the two ends, sat in the shade of the tree and untied the Knot.
This is one of the easiest battles to be fair, you just have to snipe as many immortals as you can with your archers, and move all your troops deeply back into the sea (and make a phalanx wall there) - of course, send the cavalry to kill the slingers. Afterwards,charge 1 cavalry into the spearmen on the right and immediately turn back (and keep all your cavalry on that hill where the slingers originated from)...after that, you should have triggered the enemy, so once they cross the river, charge alexander and your cav into their 3 archers and they get slaughtered even before the enemy cavalry attacks you back - and when (if) that happens, simply retreat with alexander behind your phalangists - the enemy will get slaughtered by your phalanxes and peltasts & hypaspists behind them (also, you can charge hypaspists to the enemy rear) -> meanwhile, use your remaining cavarly to kill the scythian mounted archers and dareius (preferably killing him).
This way, you easily get a heroic victory, not even losing a half of your army (not even third if you do it really well).....much much much easier than the first luck-based battle, or even halicarnassus that is awfully long.
Man youre way ahead of these battles in the primary playthrough

Pretty easy to blast through the spears on the right with the cavalry at hand, but this would be the technical playthrough.
Thanks! I have always had trouble with beating this battle. One question though, can you kite the enemy force? Because I would love to see them do that, so I can actually use my Calvary

actually it's pronounced like ISIS is, because ISIS existed then and they even had their own city but the whities escaped their experimental breeding ground on Crete and took over their land. Alexander destroyed ISIS but now they've come back
Legend pls try last emperor mod for BI total war its very hard!!!!!
He doesn't take viewer suggestions and he doesn't upload mod gameplay unless the mod is really popular because mods generally crash more and drag out the campaign, both of which are things that are bad for a youtube campaign
