    I like the ideas of stainless shelf cover and salvage drum so the solvent or whichever solution chosen doesn’t have to stay in top of tub I’m not sure if I’ll need the battery yet but I just got an Eastwood 40g and need put it together so this is the best examples I’ve seen to have thanks

    It vents through the open to atmosphere return line. It’s not a sealed system.

      @hybridmusclegarage4590  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a sealed system. I have a open/close vent on the tank. I only open it when I am using the pump.

      @@hybridmusclegarage4590 I thought it might have been part of a toxic clean up set or something but nooo...I bought a 6 gallon bucket from Grainger a couple year ago and that was $60. There are some really nice sump pump liners with flat bottoms for $30 from Walmart and Homo Despot....Sometimes you want to purchase what fits the purpose and it is easiest just to use what the other person used. Thanks for the info and inspiration...

    Great video and lots of good ideas here. I wonder, just thinking about the stainless steel top you added, if such a build could be done using a salvaged gas grill. Often find these discarded on the curb in our town, or at the thrift shops or Good Will stores. These are about the right size for a parts washer, complete with a stand or cabinet underneath. You could use the top cover of the grill as storage space for the tools and brushes you would use to clean your parts. May be even add a light for better illumination of the work space. Anyway, just a thought. Thanks for sharing your project.

    • @hybridmusclegarage4590
      @hybridmusclegarage4590  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im sure you could use grill parts, just modify as needed. This was an easy build. Good luck, keep me posted on what you come up with. Thanks for watching.

    Just a thought on the venting of the drum. If your pumping fluid from it. The drum should not capitate. Due to it being sealed. As it pumps fluid from the drum. Should create suction from the drain on your washer tub sucking fluid back in. Thay should be a good thing as the suction should help keep clumps from clogging your drain line back to the drum.
    Again. Just a thought you may want to consider. . .

    • @hybridmusclegarage4590
      @hybridmusclegarage4590  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The vent I put at 08:12 is to keep it so it dont capitate. If there was no vent it would capitate due to fluid in the return line constantly. I never keep standing
      solvent in the tank as it will eat the powder coat. After each use, I wipe it down completely. Last longer and looks new every time I use it. Thanks

    • @hybridmusclegarage4590
      @hybridmusclegarage4590  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you just said, Never thought of it that way LOL. Your right. Thanks again. But honestly I open the vent every time i use it. Next I will leave it
      closed and see if it creates a suction.

    Well done my friend! Have watched a few videos and I like yours the best. Just bought a 40 gallon washer and have not used it yet. I'm going to use some of if not all of your mods before I fire it up. Only concern I have is which solvent to use. How stinky is this stuff? Does it smell up the garage when you are using it? Do you need to wear a mask or is it Ok without one? I never used to care about that when I was younger but as I have gotten older I seem to have become more sensitive to chemical odors. Have had good success with citrus based cleaners but I know they don't work as well as solvent.

    I'm looking into building a parts washer and have some questions... Why did you leave the submersible pump in the basin? Actually, why did you leave the the shelf in the basin? Couldn't you remove them both and have BIG deep parts washing basin? Good build. I really like your design.

    • @hybridmusclegarage4590
      @hybridmusclegarage4590  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. there is a hole on the side of the tank where the pump box goes. Pump box covers hole. 2. I really dont need a big deep tank. Its only for transmission parts. When i do need a deep tank, shelf comes out easy. Best of both worlds!! Thanks for watching.

    Those water based cleaners do… sort of… work. But, it has to be HEATED so hot that you virtually don’t want to stick your hands in it! Union shop I worked at a decade ago forced the transition to the damn things. For some reason our brake clean usage went way up after that! Go figure.

    • @hybridmusclegarage4590
      @hybridmusclegarage4590  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right, only very heated they work kinda well. I love brake clean but very $$$$. This set up is perfect and cleans very well. I did not think the solution would clean well, but was very surprised. Thanks for the comment!
