Great video. I’m about to change a downstream o2 sensor today and I have a question. My car check engine like code said bank 2 sensor 2, which means downstream sensor, is there just one downstream sensor or two?
Sounds like you have a v type engine. Bank 1 usually has number 1 cylinder if you can work that out, straight engines usually have only the one bank.

I have a 420 reading on my OB2 computer to cell phone Reader thing.By the way a great 10.00 investment, BUT I already changed out the converter so I believe it is the censer but is it the upper or lower? How does one Know?

nice vid on location of sensor,,I have an 02 forester, 2.5,, just replaced down stream/after the cat,,not sure if it's just the 2002 make/model,but mine you can see and reach both 02 sensor wiring plug connections from under the hood,as far as the downstream replacement,i unplugged wire connection,and my box end 1/7,,,,,,,22mm fit over the wiring connection,no need for special tool,,same for replacing sensor,unplug electric fitting prior to removal,,plug back in after replacement,,just trying to save us boys and girls a dime
Just a quick question, did you unplug your battery while changing the o2 sensor or was it left plugged in?
I unplugged mines and the emission place told me that my ecu wasn't in ready mode.
so did you just jack your car up at home or was it on a lift? debating on whether or not I should use someone's lift or jack it up and do it myself somewhere else. I'm concerned about it being stuck on though I may need help so i think I know what to do, but for future reference, lol, did you use a lift or not? Didn't look like it, but I want to be sure.
This was all done in my driveway. If you have an asphalt driveway, put a piece of wood under your jack and jackstands so you dont make divets in the driveway when the weight of the car is on the jack/stands

my 1995 honda accord ex has a check engine light code 43 which is a problem in the fuel system, i was thinking an o2 censor or a bad fuel filter(since i have records dating back to when it was bought and it doesnt show a replacement) so my questions is would my car have a downflow o2 censor being that its a 1995 and cats werent required until 1996 and newer?

For one the begging of the video was hilarious hahaha. And the serious rest of the video was PERFECT. Couldn’t ask for better info on this particular repair. I’m currently about to do this to my 2010 cobalt 2.2l in about an hour. Hopefully as long as it isn’t seized and it comes out it should be a super easy repair. I’m a firearms specialist not a car specialist but I do know quite a bit about how everything works. Just recently got into working on my vehicles myself instead of getting my wallet raped at mechanic shops that charge hundreds to do Quick ten minute fixes like this which is crazy. They would have marked the 50-70 dollar sensor up to 100 or more and then charged another 60-120 in labor. All for a 50 dollar part and ten minutes of work lol. Recently used o Riley’ auto parts to scan my car for a CEL that turned out to be a intake vvt solenoid. Car had poor idle and hesitation and bad mpg. I got the sensor replaced it just as easy as a spark plug and right away car ran fine and check engine light went off within a few miles of driving and restarting the car. Mpg went back up and now last week had the light come back on and this time it’s bank 1 sensor 2 which is the downstream o2. Glad I had it scanned because I was about to do the upstream sensor. But I researched google on what the bank 1 sensor two was for the p0054 code on my cobalt and ordered the part and rented the slotted socket and now about to get it done and hopefully goes as well as the vvt solenoid went. My car has 141,000
Miles. About to replace plugs soon and probably my exhaust solenoid. Camshaft sensor and a lot of other sensors are all really easy to replace from what I can tell on this vehicle anyway. And most other newer vehicles. I wanted to check some videos to make sure I knew how to properly do it and you confirmed my thoughts and had some good tips and was very helpful. Keep up the good work and keep the good videos coming. Helps a lot of do it yourself people out

What was the point of the wrench if you didnt use it? You used the ratchet and pliers but not the wrench, why?

Is it possible for that sensor to be able to shut off the car? The scanner is telling my car that, that sensor is bad in my car. But my car is shutting off by its self, is it possible that, that is my problem and that's shutting off my car?

I was always told that the downstream sensor does not affect fuel trims or mileage and that is Not true! The first purpose of the downstream 02 sensor is to measure cat efficiency. The second function is downstream fuel control. This function adjusts the upstream 02 goal voltage within the range of operation of the upstream sensor. The upstream goal voltage is used to ensure long cat life by allowing the PCM to control the amount of air and fuel that is supplied to the cat. If the downstream 02 sensor switch point is at a low voltage the PCM will adjust the upstream 02 goal voltage to reduce high 02 content by . If the downstream 02 sensor switch points stays high, the upstream 02 sensor goal voltage will change and allow a low 02 content. My downstream was fixed in the rich position and the fuel trims were pulling back like 25 percent and no codes being set.
