When young, I could not afford the Leica system. Now old, I'm long invested in other 35mm systems and other formats. As a result, I never bothered to learn exactly how a Leica is loaded. Thanks to this video, I'm now informed that I made better choices in my youth, because loading a Leica RF is a silly pain in the ass.
One important point to take note of when rewinding, is to pull the rewind knob up as far as it will go. Otherwise, it may not rewind the film, and feels like the film was not loaded properly. I made this mistake on my first roll, and opened the camera, only to find the film loaded fine. I quickly re-closed the camera, pulled the rewind knob up again, fully this time, and it rewound properly. Luckily I only exposed the last frame shot. Lesson learned :)
Show us please the real rewinding in doing it, not in saying and commenting it. How does the film go out of the perforate arrow in which the film was pushed until the visible end ! Thanks
La camara no tiene fotometro asi que la sensibilidad es igual. El fotometro que uses sera la referencia, yo le coloco en la zapata del flash un papel con el ISO para no olvidarme.
Hi! Not sure you will see this comment since this video is old but the last couple or rolls I have shot the film has been ripped when rewinding it but only the very tail end of it so not anything major although it's very frustrating and confusing to me! Any idea why this might be happening? Hoping it's just user error and not something that needs to be fixed :(
Thats strange, maybe the take up spool is a bit too tight? Not sure it can be modified but maybe try buying another take up spool and see if it happens again. Never had that problem
@@mjones410 Being a M2 owner myself, I can say that it is possible. What I would do is to put the metal base in my pocket or bite it with my mouth (desperate/quick situations) before proceeding to load the camera with the film and spool (all these with M2 hung onto your neck). That is by far, the most feasible way of loading the M2 while walking. OR if you're shooting with a friend, you can always ask them to hold onto the metal base for you. In any case, loading film wouldn't require more than 2 minutes and you won't lose a lot of 'scenes' though it seems that way.
Wow. That Neopan 1600 is a blast from the past! 😮Thank you for the video.

It's a camera from 1957. It will for sure have trade-off to own such camera. Don't expect the same experience between a Nikon F6 and a Leica M.
Its a little slow, but never put me off.
Leica M2 is a great camera !!
Thanks for this very helpful , short and compact video !
You are welcome! It is a great camera.

I did that exact same thing a few days ago. It was a first, and I hope a last.
Nicos Photography Show Well that’s comforting to know it happens to the best of them 😊
We all are prone to mistakes. ;)
Nicos Photography Show And prone to design flaws 😉 Well as long as we don’t make the same mistake again, then we have no one to blame but ourselves 🤪
Thanks so much. I thought my camera was broken.

Hey Nico, where did you get your soft shutter button from?
This one is from Artisan Obscura? Or something like that. Feels great.
As a reminder on your film, take the top of the film box, or fold some paper with the info on it. Then put it on top inside the shoe.
I do use that when needed, thanks for reminding me of this.

Interesting. So some Leica's you have trim the film, others not?
The Barnack models, or at least most of them, required trimming, not the M's.
What Stephen said.
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
could you do a video on how to shoot flash with Mamiya rb67 pro
I could do that. If you want sending a contact form to www.superfilmsupport.com would help me remember.
Very helpful video!!!!
Challenge: load film while walking
Challenge accepted.
that's what I was thinking, I like to change rolls on the go and was thinking this requires a sit down :)

Hi Nicos, I always thought you had to trim the film leader for an M2 otherwise it might catch along the film gate. Is this not true?
Absolutely not. You do not have to trim the film leader for the M2. I don't know about other models.
Nope, they stopped doing that with all the M cameras. The Barnack's did need it.
Te miro mas cabello, o Te peinaste diferente?
Jajaja, ni idea.
A single stroke wind, better than the two stroke M3
I like both to be honest.
