11:53 100% false! Brake torque is a factor of effective radius of the brakes (along with clamping force and coefficient of friction). The effective radius is the radial centerline of the pad and thus a wider pad (radially speaking) for a given rotor size, the smaller the effective radius. All other things being equal, a narrower pad (again, radially) will generate more braking torque than a wider pad. For simple math, lets assume a 14" (355mm) brake rotor and in one setup, a 2" wide pad and in the other setup, a 4" wide pad. Remember, the effective radius is the radial centerline of the pad, so for the 2" wide pad, the effective radius is 6" (2/2 = 1, 14/2= 7 and thus 7-1=6) now for the 4" wide pad, it's 4/2 = 2 and the same 14/2 = 7 but now its 7-2 = 5" (i.e., a smaller effective radius and therefore, less brake torque for the same clamp force and same coefficient of friction. This is why doing like what Marty did (bigger rotor with stock calipers) does give more brake torque (more braking power) and is also better at heat management (not that a wider pad has any appreciable effect on heat management. 14:10 I don't think this one is the first. @@RoadsUntraveled Moving the same pad contact patch out from the hub centre is much the same as increasing torque by getting a longer lever on a fulcrum point. The biggest proportion of improved braking with larger discs is actually moving the contact patch out from the hub centre, followed by the increased contact patch, and then finally cooling. Yes, it's a bit of a waste not to have increased the contact patch too, but he's made the best of the largest improvement possible with the brakes he's running.
Why would you put a Honda motor in an mr2. That’s like coyote swapping a corvette, or LS swapping an RX7. Sure you CAN and you can probably get decent power doing it. But it’s not the character of the vehicle.
Gonna have to disagree Toyota made a V8 MR2 using a Lexus V8 from the SC400 and it was insanley fast and sounds so awesome. The V8 MR2 was so fast in the LeMANs it was going up against 911 and F335 Ferraris. The MR2 is called the MC8-R.

I was only really considering non-OEM engines for this video! The SW20 was sold with a variation of the Beams 3S-GE in Japan, available for import into North America. No swap needed for that one.
See I like the Tesla idea but I think it needs to be taken a step further. Why are we trying to replace the motor with a Tesla motor? What we should be doing is cutting out the frunk, making mounts, and putting the Tesla in front, and having it drive the front wheels while the motor drives the back wheels.
I would KLZE swap an SW20. That's a Mazda 2.5l v6. It's possible, maybe, maybe soon to buy a kit to use the MR2s transmission. The reason for that is usually the other way around to get a better trans behind the engine. 7500 rpm v6 with no weight penalty over a 4cyl. It likes to sing, it's not crazy power, but can be turboed. I just don't like 4 cyl. engine sound, EVEN the 4AGE which I had. The engine itself can last a long time, so it's not like a loss there either. Also it had a variable intake which is reminiscent of the MK1's T-VIS, (but not, and an entirely different setup.) No one ever thinks Mazda for swaps, except that weirdo Rob Dahm :-D
@@izzy031096 The biggest limitation to the KL, is the single transmission that bolts right up to it. Reliability? The distributor.
So if u swap a k20 k24 do can u still have ac?
Why would you put a Honda motor in an mr2. That’s like coyote swapping a corvette, or LS swapping an RX7. Sure you CAN and you can probably get decent power doing it. But it’s not the character of the vehicle.
How much weight does Tesla swapping an mr2 add?
I have a crazy ass idea that probably won’t work:
A Saab B234R engine with a upgraded TD04 Turbo, very unique right there.
Hux racing makes k engine mounts for the sw2
Gonna have to disagree Toyota made a V8 MR2 using a Lexus V8 from the SC400 and it was insanley fast and sounds so awesome. The V8 MR2 was so fast in the LeMANs it was going up against 911 and F335 Ferraris. The MR2 is called the MC8-R.
I made a video about that car years ago 😁 The ultimate halo MR2
@@RoadsUntraveled There are people right now in 2023-2024 making a V8 MR2 using the 1UZ engine from the SC400.
Can you please remove the front plate bracket 🙏
2GR swap or bust
They are brilliant...
Either 3sgte or beams red top with a rotrex
Oooohhh I like this second option. Never seen it done in person.
@@RoadsUntraveled yeah it's a pretty sick choice when done right. There was a guy years ago on one of the forums (either celica or mr2) who was running one at 400+. A lot of folks complain that it's mostly a custom build, but it definitely delivers.
Can you do a video on lexus sc300
Why the hell would anyone go through the ridiculous effort of the Audi 4.2 swap when the 3.5liter 2gr fe is reliably getting 340hp and a nice fat torque curve? It just doesn't make sense. If there was a noticeably big difference in power, I'd understand, but there isn't.
Noise.
VQ35HR would be amazing in one of these imo.
No…
I have looked into this extensively and cant get a fwd trans info.
@@HuxRacing uhhh Altima??
@@HuxRacing my bad, would be a de
@@HuxRacing Altima trans bolted to the 35hr?
One day I want a mr2 collection
Mine is exactly the same colour
what about a 1gz fe v12? ;P
2grfe turbo swap the world!!!
I love my 3vz-fe swap.. this engine should have been inside !
during its design, toyota thought of putting the 1VZ-FE in it, but in addition to serious overheating problem inerant in this engine.
Toyota must have deemed it too heavy, and not powerful/sporty enough for the SW20
@@alkane6467 3vz fe v6 ... not the 1vz
@@s.u.6198 boh.. it's pretty much the same engine 😅
which is heavier than the 1VZ and more it seems to me ..
(on the other hand it is indestructible too 🤣)
Ecoboost , 2AR turbo, etc has been done as well as an LS swap that is running and driving. There are many more.
If I had a MR2 I’d SR20 swap one or k20 or B16
What about a beams swap
I was only really considering non-OEM engines for this video! The SW20 was sold with a variation of the Beams 3S-GE in Japan, available for import into North America. No swap needed for that one.
Mr2 with a 2zzge turbo swap is what i wanna see
Kyle's will still be the fastest
I don't know about "everyone" I put a V6 in mine.
See I like the Tesla idea but I think it needs to be taken a step further. Why are we trying to replace the motor with a Tesla motor? What we should be doing is cutting out the frunk, making mounts, and putting the Tesla in front, and having it drive the front wheels while the motor drives the back wheels.
Woah... that'd be cool.. would make the heaviest SW20 the world has ever seen but would undoubtedly be very quick.
Boosted boiz waving
Still can’t beat the boosted boiz… k20 turbo all day
I would KLZE swap an SW20.
Why would you not go the cheaper, more reliable, and more powerful 2gr? All of the same benefits, and far easier with more aftermarket potential
@@izzy031096 The biggest limitation to the KL, is the single transmission that bolts right up to it. Reliability? The distributor. Which if you go coil on plug or just distributorless ignition isn't an issue. The 98+ 626 has the distributorless parts. Rods? Millenia S. I've never heard a Toyota engine sound as good as a KL, or a VR6, or a Busso. For me, it would be fun. People asking what you're asking should go with the Toyota or the K swap or the LS.
K swap is more common than aids. Get more creative it's so boring now.
The best swap for an mr2 is a 2grfe....the next best swap is a fuck off big electric motor.
AWD SW20 will be in the WORKSSSSS
Bro i thought this one was yours smh 🤦🏽♂️ i miss that thing...
Me too! Sold it June 2020.
I think V6 swaps are my favorite
I would never v8 or any swap a mr2. Doing so should be heresy and punishable by death
K swap 🤝 sw20 mr2
Tesla-swapping makes me vomit in my mouth
The most Based vid you've uploaded
Funny thing about Tesla swapping. Toyota is working on a all electric manual mr2...
Lol wtf is a manual electric car? The Porsches have two gear transmissions but that's pretty uncommon.
Yummy hardtop right hand drive.
everyone knows the 2gr is meant to be in these vehicles.
God please if you v8 swap use a 1uz like god and sigma racing intended.
Don't ruin it with any Honda anything lol.
screw that, 3SGTE is better
