Welcome to "Three Days in Ubud, Bali - Part 1" - your ultimate guide to where to eat, stay, explore, and have fun in this captivating part of Bali! After an incredible time in Uluwatu, we're taking a relaxing taxi ride to Ubud, with an unexpected stop at a coffee plantation (the driver’s idea, not ours - it felt like a bit of a tourist trap, to be honest). Despite arriving in a dramatic downpour, our spirits were lifted as soon as we saw our beautiful villa, nestled among natural surroundings like trees, jungle, and rice terraces, and birds singing... (not a Disney movie, but starting to sound like one!)
After a refreshing swim, shower, and change, we headed to dinner at The Elephant Cafe. Perched at the top of a cliffside with breathtaking views of the rice terraces, this spot is perfect for those seeking gluten-free and vegan dining - and even those who aren’t! Carlos raved about the gnocchi, saying it was the best he's ever had, and the gyoza was a surprising hit as well. I highly recommend getting there before sunset to fully enjoy the stunning vistas.
The next day, we set off to explore the renowned rice terraces. Renting a scooter in Bali is an absolute MUST - it's the best way to navigate the twisting roads that lead from the balinese villages to dense jungle landscapes. Instead of visiting the main tourist attraction, we found a quieter spot where we had the beautiful scenery all to ourselves.
Our next mission was lunch, so we explored a few traditional Bali hut cafes with amazing views of the terraces, many of which had pools. We settled on TIS Cafe - it had the classiest vibe and the friendliest staff. We had planned to visit some temples afterward, but the weather had other plans. Instead, we enjoyed hot teas and delicious food while watching the rain fall on the terraces around us.
On our way back, I stopped to buy some handcrafted chopping boards. There are so many small stalls along the roads, so don’t be afraid to stop and check them out if something catches your eye. We ended the day with a fantastic dinner at Muse Restaurant, indulging in amazing Indian food, of which I will show you properly in Part 2!!

Oh that’s great! The villa was great, because it was a bit out of the way there wasn’t any noise that I noticed, and no scary animals don’t worry!! I don’t have the contact, but search ‘Villa Gusku’ in airbnb and you will find it very easily 😊 I hope you have a fun trip!

Aw thank you! I’m not based in Bali, but in Singapore 😊 I entered with my British passport! There is a massive variety in Bali, so I’d recommend having a look on Airbnb for example and see what kinds of things you can get for your budget. As far as eating, doing activities, renting a scooter or getting Ubers, I think it’s all very affordable 🙏🏼
