I keep seeing the comments say "where's Shimo" or "where's Spacegodzilla" or "where's Bagan" Forget all that. The real question is: Where is Padme? Is she safe? Is she alright?
Some wild hot takes here, specially with showa ghidorah. Also, didn’t think i’d see a day where someone would unironically put Moguera in top 3 and super mechagodzilla as the best mechagodzilla. Wow
Well it's mainly just what I think. I don't give credit for something being first, only if it was well done. Which is why I don't think Showa Ghidorah was that good in any of it's films.
@@arrestedsolidyhe77sp It depends on what you mean by action scenes. I wouldn't consider having poorly choreographed fights or basically no physical combat from Ghidorah a good fight. As well as many other things. Also Ghidorah the three headed monster is one of the worst films in the showa era mostly due to it's pretty bad story and acting. Invasion of the astro monster is much better, but Destroy all monsters is a pretty bland film. He is the most iconic monster of the Godzilla franchise, but the actual monster does practically nothing.
Kamacarus played a big part in the film and was very well made. Orga on the other hand didn't really do much and it's fights weren't really that great.
@@SirBlueCube acting as the main antagonist in son of godzilla, adding a lot of tension with the human characters and the monsters. Being the ones to dig out minilla and go after humans.
This was a really interesting video. I disagree with a lot of the takes but that’s what makes it enjoyable, seeing what others think. I’d love more ranking videos on Godzilla monsters/designs tho idk how much more u can do lol, I’m subscribing 👍 and sorry for all the negative comments but that’s always gonna be a byproduct of ranking vids 😂
Haven't commented in any of your videos but your videos are great! Your probably the only person I trust when it comes to Godzilla Information. hope you keep up with the great work!
Welp, this video is now in my "let's rank media" playlist in my youtube profile by virtue of actually listing off all the monsters in the franchise up until the most recent ones.
This is good research and overviews here. While, I don't agree with many of these, I can see where you are coming from. I like how you take everything into account; a lot of raters i have watched would rate showa kumonga as bad, like, 60th place, just because of its poor movements and how it "didn't do much", but you take in account things like the tension and its detailed design. People would call MOGUERA bad, but I agree much more with you. You take in account design, weaponry, creativity, fighting style, and so on. You've gained a new like, and if you keep it up, a subscriber.
0:24 Honestly, this has got to be one of the egregious undermining of a Godzilla monster I have ever heard in my life. I totally get that this video is just your opinion and everyones got those, and thats of course fine, no hate here, but I just have to honestly say that this summary of Mechagodzilla is just outright unfair. He doesnt waste the potential of being in an animated environment, as the form he takes, the massive city fortress, in a Godzilla infected world, would be a ton of money to pull off in live action with all the CGI it would take that I dont think Toho could pull of just yet. This form is limited in terms of mobility... but not much else, as it can recreate previous weapons he had, as well as make more from the ground up. This Mechagodzilla also has a mind of his own, meaning he makes his own decisions to a degree. Back while he still had a normal body, he realized he wouldn't win a fight with Godzilla as is, as Godzilla was just too powerful. So he purposely didnt fully activate when the Biulsaldo wanted him too, allowing Godzilla to attack him and believe him to be dead. Then, he implemented a new, more effective strategy to defeating Godzilla, using his nanometal to turn his body into a massive fortress that not only could double as a home for his creators upon their return, but also a super fortress to produce all kinds of weaponry. He even churned out special particles into the air so that there was less of a chance of Godzilla finding him. He turned his mind half off so he wouldn't be conscious for thousands of years on end, and only had his mind fully reactivated by his creators upon their return. Haruo's strategy was the last peice he needed in order to figure out how to definitively kill Godzilla, which, as we also saw, actually would have worked, if it wasnt for Godzilla's unexpected ability to turn the extra energy in his body, that was caused by the EMP harpoon, into heat, and take on his burning Godzilla form. Also I should mention that this Mechagodzilla was programmed by Bilusaludo to take over the Earth as well, an order he did not forget. He helped the Biulsaludo in manipulating the rest of the team into thinking he was really on their side, when in actuality, Mechagodzilla's goal all along was to take over the Earth for himself and take over the minds of all the people left in it, unifying them all under his single all controlling mind. Mechagodzilla City was a cold, calculating, heartless robot, who manipulated those into thinking he was just there to help when all he wanted was to be in Godzillas place as ruler of Earth all along, and it absolutely baffles me that hes ranked under a monster as minor and unimportant as, for example, Final Wars Kumonga. Even ranking him under Heisei Mechagodzilla feels wrong, as Heisei Mechagodzilla isnt even a character. He has no artifical intelligence, hes just a weapon thats piloted around by a team of folks. He has the same level of free thinking as a toaster, yet hes in 2nd place on this list, while the free-thinking machine of world take over and terror is under litterally Kumonga. 0:37 While Im at it, this an incredible understatment as well. I dont understand how you walked away from this Ghidorah thinking he has "basically no attacks"? For starters, what attacks where you expecting, you know? Most Ghidorahs, outside of a few exceptions, have a single primary attack of gravity beams... which this Ghidorah has, he just fires them out of his body. He uses them on the Aratrum, and later launches them down on Godzilla. He also has sever other attacks, such as draining power from a monsters body, changing gravity, and even opening a planet consuming rift in the sky. His design looking like a "thorny rose bush" was actually intentional, as they wanted to keep a plant-esque look for the monsters of these films. For this Ghidorah, I find it extremely fitting that the body of a multi-dimensional space demon deity is multi-eyed and coverend in jagged spike, but maybe that's just me. But still, this Ghidorah is linked to a whole other dimension. Thats why we never saw his full body, as his full body crossing over would mean he has obtained the ability to destroy everything, taking all souls left on Earth into his dimension and control while the planet is annihilated in order for him to feed off it. This Ghidorah also tortured his victim, Godzilla, by dismantling his attacks step by step. First he rendered his atomic breath useless, then rendered his physical attacks useless, then bit down on him to hinder his mobility, then drained away all the power be had left, and then finally lift and take him up to his portal in the sky in an attempt to remove Godzilla from this reality, bringing him into his own reality and killing him for good. This Ghidorah was a terrifying being who feeds off of entire planets, thrives off of souls, tortures his victims, and brings dimensional shattering cataclysms with him wherever he goes, and its just baffling to me to see him get ranked under one big spider in Final Wars who didnt even last for 50 seconds against Godzilla, or Zilla, a monster who got killed in under 20 seconds, to name a few. Again, no hate, Im just saying that, well I dunno, theres alot more to some of these monsters then what theyre given credit for here, so maybe a simple reassessment on some of these fellas down the line could help, you know? I mean despite all that, this video itself is well presented and edited, and I appreciate you're ability to just get from one point to another instead of just dwelling on each for no good reason as Ive seen others do, so good on you for that.
I appreciate your perspective about Anime Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla. But I do completely stand by my thoughts on these monsters, I kind of think you are looking too deep than what is presented with the monsters themselves. Sure most of these things are hinted at in the film or shown with the human characters, but I don't think they built upon them in the right way. MechaGodzilla at the end of the day is shown to be a city which basically shoots missiles, while the artificial intelligence storyline can be taken away and it wouldn't affect what is shown onscreen with MechaGodzilla itself. Ghidorah on the other hand does do some things against Godzilla, such as biting him, and yeah that's about it. Like I said suitmation as shown with Heisei or even showa ghidorah were able to do much more despite limitations. I could also look incredibly deep into monsters I think are done well, such as SpaceGodzilla who is actually shown in the film to have malicious intent. As shown by him intentionally missing Little Godzilla with his laser, even at times bending the laser completely around little Godzilla just to terrorize him. SpaceGodzilla also could have taken Little Godzilla when he had the chance but waited for Godzilla to arrive in order to overpower and take Little Godzilla from him. Things like this were directly shown with monsters like SpaceGodzilla, Destoroyah, and even showa monsters like MechaGodzilla and Gigan. But I did not mention these things due to wanting an even and fair judgment of each monster, and not just looking deep into monsters I think are done better than others or monsters that I like. For robots like Heisei MechaGodzilla, they are supposed to be Mechas being controlled by people. This is actually where I find flaws with Showa MechaGodzilla and Kiryu, they are supposed to be piloted yet seem to show emotion, which makes them feel less like a robot (which is what they are supposed to be). I'm not saying that your wrong for thinking Anime MechaGodzilla is better than a lot of other monsters I put higher. But these are my reasons for why I put him where I did. But I find it interesting that my list is called egregious by many people due to me thinking their favorite monster isn't good. For many years I've seen monsters like Moguera, Destoroyah or SpaceGodzilla being said to be bad for reasons that were objectively untrue. In response I may have disagreed and shared what I thought the monsters did in the films, but I never called their list or opinion wrong or egregious. I respect your opinion although I disagree. And as for rethinking this list, my list of these monsters were extremely thought out, taking multiple days to think which monsters to put above or below the others before I even wrote the script. Which the script also took an extremely long time to cut out unimportant things, while being fair to every monster, and pointing out things I thought were good or bad for monsters I both liked or didn't like. It also took an incredibly long time to edit the voice to have good pacing and fix any weird sounds with my recording that might distract the listener, to draw and color the monsters in the thumbnail as well as putting them all together to create a picture that looks good to the eye. This alone took a week or two to do, but the video editing alone took another 2 or more weeks. Having to find a different clip for almost every single sentence I say, while at the same time finding clips that are all different from each other but still match what I was trying to say. So I say all of this to explain that I had plenty of time to think over what I said and wrote. I appreciate your feedback, as well as your explanation for why you think MechaGodzilla and Ghidorah are well done in the films. I especially respect your lengthy response since I myself like to respond in long essay form if given the opportunity. I would be open to a conversation if you are willing about this topic, or if you want to talk about something else specific in my video.
@@GSTE_ Again, I find those assessments to not reflect what we actually saw in the films properly. I'm not looking too deep, I'm just stating what we're told and shown in the films. Like for starters, Mechagodzilla City doesn't just shoot missiles, he has rail guns, those hidden spike weapons, nanometal deflector particles, nanometal holding pools, and thats just the weapons, not to mention his technology creation abilities. Also you really can't say that "the artificial intelligence storyline can be taken away and it wouldn't affect what is shown onscreen" because it absolutely would. Mechagodzilla's City form even existing is a result of his artificial intelligence. The film happening is a result of his artificial intelligence. Several major characters dying is a result of his artificial intelligence. But even so, if we make up a scenario where Mechagodzilla City somehow exists anyway without Mechagodzillas intelligence, you still have a super massive city fortress with dozens of weapons, a growth ability, a technology creation ability, and the capabilities to allow the minds of people to be absorbed into it in a way. And with Ghidorah, no, biting Godzilla isn't the only thing he does. He first bites down after several failed attacks on him by Godzilla in order to keep Godzilla pinned in a way. Then, he uses the power to slurp Godzillas power out of him like a juice box. Finally, he lifts Godzilla with it and his antigravity abilities to finally erase Godzilla forever. It's alot more than just "chomp". That's not even taking into consideration all the other things he does, from using Gravity Beams to attack the Aratrum before finally destroying it and all on board in a single moment, to trying to infect and take over the souls of the remaining UE forces. Again, none of this is me looking for stuff or making it up, it's not matter of opinion, all this stuff actually happens. I will say in the case of Mechagodzillas showing emotion as you mention, well I don't really know when Showa Mechagodzilla showed any outside of "GRAAAAH KILL EVERYTHING!" and Kiryu was litterally possessed by another monster. Im not saying that my issue here is that "Oh no my favorite is low!" because... that would be stupid? The reason that I, and some others, find several of these placements odd is that we don't understand it from a logical stand point, and not because "Oh no my favorite isn't top 10!" See, just from an open standpoint, like in my case, I'm still confused how anyone can compare Planet Eater Ghidorah and Final Wars Zilla and go "Zilla was better." Zilla was Ps2 cgi thing that had less than a minute of screentime and got clowned on by Godzilla in like, 5 seconds. Meanwhile, Planet Eater Ghidorah had lots more story to him, had far more screentime, and actually proved to be the biggest challenge that his Godzilla has ever faced. I'm not saying EVERYONE here is at this standpoint as me, some appear to actually be complaining that their favorite Monster isnt top 10, which, again, is dumb, but it would appear that several have the same sentiment as I do where we just don't get the logic and that's all. The reason I singled out Anime Mechagodzilla & Ghidorah here is because they came up first and I yeah, I am fond of them, but I could make arguments for some I dont like as much.
@@Blotzwave I'm not saying that your only making an argument because you like MechaGodzilla city and Ghidorah. I personally don't have a problem if you do or don't like them. I also just don't think Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla city were done well in the films, I think a lot more could have been done with them. Again I am not denying that MechaGodzilla city or Ghidorah had a lot to do with the human story and plot. I am talking about the monster itself and what is done with it on screen. I agree that I probably should have put Zilla a little lower, but Zilla served it's purpose in the film and helped create a very well done and memorable scene when Godzilla final wars destroys him. If he had more screen time and did even less he would probably be as low as monsters like Gabara. The giant condor is an example of a monster that not only looks bad in it's design and combat, but also doesn't do much of anything, which is the reason for it being on the bottom. The main thing going for anime ghidorah that you could argue it being higher is it's design being well animated. But the monster itself has very little to do in the film despite the film being about the monster. Similar to why I put monsters like the warbat over skar king. Having a well done monster with little focus on it, or having a monster that doesn't look good but still creates a good scene is better than having a monster that only looks good and doesn't do much of anything despite the film being about that monster. This is why I put Biollante's final form much lower than other monsters due to the lack of creative fights and use of the monster despite it being the main focus of the film. What your saying about MechaGodzilla city would be similar to people saying Heisei MechaGodzilla only shoots lasers. When in reality Mechagodzilla shoots stun missiles, gcrusher anchors that can impale godzilla, he can fly into godzilla, and he can absorb Godzilla's atomic breath. What I did was summarize what MechaGodzilla is shown to do on screen. For example I did not mention how Ebirah attacks boats or humans despite those being very well done scenes. Even if I think a monster is well done I'm going to give it as much talking points as I did for the rest of the monsters in this video. You may think my assessment of MechaGodzilla city wasting it's potential and being limited to shooting stuff at Godzilla from buildings, doesn't match the films. But as I mentioned, MechaGodzilla city and Ghidorah did do some things mostly in terms of the humans, but I don't think any of those things were done well or got even close to even the limitations of the suitmation godzilla films. That's just my thoughts on it, I'm not saying people have to agree with me, or even think I'm right. These are just my conclusions on the monsters, that I thought out very well before making this, due to the incredibly strong opinions people have for things they like or think are good. And again I respect your opinion, and hope we can continue this conversation to come to a satisfying conclusion or at least to agree to disagree.
@@GSTE_ Honestly I feel like we're going to have to, because I just don't understand this rational of logic at all. I was just giving you factual information on all the things Mechagodzilla & King Ghidorah do, not even my opinion, just openly stating thing we see them do and are told theh do, and wether you think all that they did was sufficient or not is redundant, as they indisputably prove to be more effective monsters than say Zilla, Kumonba, or even the Warbats. And even the argument that you don't think they do enough doesn't feel logical. Even with Skar King Vs Warbats for example. For whatever reason, you think that Skar King, who actually has character unlike the War Bats, doesn't do alot. But isn't that still better than the War Bars who don't do like, anything? They cause one quick little issue and are irrelevant afterwards. Meanwhile, with Anime Ghidorah, yeah I still don't know why you think he did little in a film when he killed off hundreds of people including several main characters, led the Exif to getting some of the survivors to join a cult where he fed on them, dismantled Godzillas attacks step by step, nearly killed Godzilla, nearly destroyed the entire planet, and posed a never ending threat that left the main character no choice but to sacrifice himself and end a cycle so that Ghidorah could never return. All of that is indisputably more, and contribute more to their stories, than what some, like the War Bats, do. And really, what I said about what Mechagodzilla City does, isn't like people who say Heisei Mechagodzilla only shoots lasers... at all? If anything, you did that, because all you said Mechagodzilla City does is shoot missiles, ignoring everything else he does. In fact, out of the several weapons he does have and uses, he doesn't even have missiles. You didn't summarize anything that Mechagodzilla does on screen at all. No mention of rail guns, no mention of nanometal particle deflectors, no mention of nanometal trapping pool, no mention of EMP harpoons, no mention of the hidden spike weapons, I mean, again, the only "weapon" you said he had, is one he doesn't have. That be like if I said Heisei Mechagodzilla's only weapon was some arm sword, which, of course, he doesn't have, and then I ignored the plasma grenade, the anchors, etc. Like, you really didn't summarize what Mechagodzilla City did at all? And I'd get if this is all your opinion of like "Well I know Kamacuras has maybe 50 seconds of screentime in Final Wars and gets defeated semi-immediately, but I still prefer him over the monster who has a whole movie about him, kills tons of people and some of the main characters, slowly starts killing Godzilla by taking away one attack of his at a time, nearly destroys the Earth, and has tons of more sceentime because I just think the big Mantis is neat." Which you know, sure that's your thoughts and that's fine you think what you wanna think thats alll good, but it gets so confusing when you try to apply some contradictory reasoning behind it. Like, Zilla does practically nothing and has one 20 second "memorable" scene according to you and that's good, but Mechagodzilla City tries to take over the entire world, forms several weapons, makes his own decisions twords killing his enemy, and has a whole strategy to killing Godzilla that almost pays off, but that wasn't enough for you, so he's bad? And I think that's why so many like myself are just... so lost with this? We don't get it, and it's just to contradictory to fully understand.
I disagree with many of these. MV Ghidorah looks better then heisei, also really? Mogira? no one even remembers Mogira unless reminded, but Mechagodzilla from the heisei era being the best?? that's not true at all, it's the ugliest and most forgettable Mechagodzilla to me (Also NO destoroyah is NOT the best monster, I'm surprised people remember and overestimate him so much considering he appeared ONCE)
Well you do know it's just my thoughts on it. In reality Monsterverse Ghidorah and the monsters do look more realistic than most of the monster suits, but I don't only consider realism in my placement of the monsters. It's why Minilla can be so high, when it's design would otherwise have it in last place.
Yeah, there is only like 12 things I agree with being crappy, I even had to explain my opposites without commenting because of how much I disagree with most.
@@YybChristian14 Like I said in the video, Baby Godzilla adds an emotional connection to the monsters, his story is very well done, and he has the best animatronic in the franchise. Ghidorah on the other hand has a good design, but lacks basically everything else with him having some of the worst fights in the showa era.
@@Veh28 Godzilla jr overall has a very good design. He has pretty well done fights in the film, and his atomic breath is very well animated. Skar king on the other hand isn't well animated, and isn't a good main villain in the film. Monster X has good combat, but lacks a convincing design. I personally don't agree with a lot of people with their lists on Godzilla or monsters, that doesn't mean that they are wrong or biased just because they don't agree with me on which monsters are good or bad.
@@GSTE_ Although I do believe that my comment was out of place and that it is your opinion, I also disagree with it. Godzilla Jr's design in Godzilla vs Destoroyah is fine, but it's just Godzilla heisei with slight changes, I would have liked it to be more different, and his two previous designs look quite ugly and out of place. Scar king has a pretty basic design, but he is very expressive and his fights are some of the best in the monsterverse. And although monster x may look a bit too humanoid, the same thing happens with most kaijus in Godzilla Final Wars, and that's because the movie is more focused on action and fighting, and personally, everything else in his design is pretty good.
@@GSTE_while he’s ghidora may have been a better villain for Godzilla, he was made for kong, and being an opposite to him with his lankier design and thinner proportions
@@wild_pumpkin Skar king is nothing more than a worse version of Kong in every way. Before the movie came out I thought maybe they would make him stronger than Godzilla and kong together. But instead they make him have other monsters do his work for him.
@@GSTE_ Ok, that makes sense. I have a different list, but we all have different opinions, and I think based on what you were rating them on, yours is pretty good👍
My only Question is Why include Skar King But not Stuff like Shimo or Suko (i was also gonna say tiamat and scylla but you didnt say any from kotm so im just asking about the important two from gxk)
I didn't add Shimo due to a lack of footage, plus not wanting to spoil the movie for anyone. I considered adding monsters like behemoth and scylla but It didn't fit into the script.
Hedorah is underrated imo. Yes, his debut movie was very disjointed, trippy, and weird, but he himself as a monster is great concept because he's essentially the opposite side of the same coin of Godzilla. Whereas Godzilla represents nuclear war, Hedorah represents climate change. Those two things are the biggest existential threats to mankind and to top it off they're both caused by mankind.
Hedorah is pretty good, although I think the movie is one of the worst in the showa era, the monster itself is very good. But Hedorah wasn't made by pollution, he was an alien lifeform from space that consumes pollution and similar stuff. I feel like they could have made the message stronger by having him created on earth, but then again the film didn't really seem to be thought out that well.
@@GSTE_ I mean yeah, but he still comes to be due to man's disregard for the environment and I think he needs a major revamp considering climate change is getting worse and eco-anxiety is on the rise
@@strivvy6852 I don't really know if modern films could replicate what the suitmation films were able to. Godzilla films are more than a message, it's understanding Godzilla as a character, and how to make him feel connected to the real world.
@@GSTE_ Actually, I think Hedorah is one of the few monsters that would work better in CGI given his shape-shifting abilities. Plus the monster verse already has a very pro environmental message so I think he'd be a prime candidate for the next monster.
Regardless of anyone's favorite Godzilla movie, in my opinion, any monster in the monsterverse easily blows away anything before it, simply for the modern CGI. In other words, the monsterverse has the best and most realistic Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan, Mecca Godzilla and Ghidorah of anything else in the Godzilla franchise. To say otherwise just boils down to sentimental choices, not reality. I'd say second best goes to Godzilla Minus One because the Japanese have really stepped up their CGI.
This is judging it solely on realism, which isn't what I was using for my judgement completely. I was including things such as the limitations of the time, plus other monsters done around that time period or before it. If I were to use realism then all of the showa monsters would be on the bottom, and the mutos from Godzilla 2014 would be at the top.
@@GSTE_ Got you! Actually my favorite Godzilla movie is Godzilla king Of The Monsters (the original 1956). Being born in 1961 it is the one I grew up on. You could say it was the most goofy, unrealistic looking Godzilla of all, however the movie carried much more weight than anything afterwards up until Godzilla Minus One. Having seen all of the movies multiple times, I got to the point of skipping all the human parts and going right for the action sequences. Not so with the 1956 and Minus One versions, because the stories had more depth. Therefore, I am sort of judging in a similar way as you are for different reasons. Anyway, thanks for keeping the King Of The Monsters alive by doing videos like this.
@@realitycheck5376 Thank you. Personally my favorite apart from the original Godzilla 1954 film is the Heisei Godzilla films due to them being more grounded. With Godzilla vs Destoroyah being one of the most serious Godzilla films in it's story and monsters. I view these older Godzilla films similar to old comic books from the 70s and 80s, which I also found great interest in a while ago. Yes they don't hold up to how things are made now, but the ones that have great fights and stories can be great despite these limitations of the time. Personally that's how I view these films. I think their work can be appreciated despite some not holding up the best in compared to completely animated films of modern times.
@@GSTE_ Agreed. Actually, for me personally, with the exception of 1954 -56 and Minus One, they're all ridiculous but I love them all. They have always been my guilty pleasure.
@@realitycheck5376 I wouldn't say all of them are ridiculous. Some like Godzilla 1984, Godzilla vs Destoroyah, Godzillla 2001, and Shin Godzilla are all pretty serious films that I think pulled it off pretty well.
“Scar king is poorly animated, has bad lighting and looks plasticky” *shows footage of scar literally being none of those things and instead looking like a glorious monke* Also I know as a fact that monsterverse rodan and monsterverse ghidorah are the best incarnations of them, the others just look rubbery and like a puppet and costume rather than a living monster, which is in part due to the fact they aren’t made with cgi, also your defiantly are a heisei simp.
I showed exactly what I said. The animation lacks engrained details, proper lighting, or weight. It's not hard to see when Skar king literally looks like he's photoshopped into certain scenes, such as the city fights. Pause right before Kong punches Skar king while he's holding Suko and if you think that looks good then there is nothing I can tell you.
@@GSTE_ cause he does look good, sure at times he looks awkward but other than that he is pretty much one of the best antagonists we have seen in a good while, he isn’t a chance for godzilla but that’s the point, it’s a kong movie with godzilla coming as a secondary mc, godzillas enemy is shimo and it shows.
@@GSTE_ also I notice you didn’t say anything about the fact that monsterverse rodan and ghidorah are the best incarnations, cause they are, do you agree?
i would change so many things but i have to say that im a big monster verse glazer but i respect your opinion and its still a nice vid and a question to you what kaijus do you want to see in the monsterverse
I don't really know, maybe some of the showa era monsters or something. I'm not really a fan of where the monsterverse seems to be going in terms of quality and tone. And I think Godzilla vs Kong 2021 was one of the better films. But in order to do monsters like SpaceGodzilla or Destoroyah justice it would require some big changes.
@@GSTE_ i agree with that and i think that the next movie could make spacegodzilla because from what ive heard (dont know if its official) that the next movie should focus more on godzilla and if its like kong that godzilla also wants to search for a "family" then spacegodzilla would be a great addition
@@rickqwens I don't really know, I feel like they need to go back to the style and quality of the previous monsterverse films like Godzilla king of the monsters or Godzilla vs Kong in order to be able to do monsters like SpaceGodzilla or monsters from the Heisei era. Otherwise I feel like these monsters won't be taken as seriously as they should.
@@GSTE_ yeah i would also prefer that they would make the next movie more like kotm because in my opinion this movie or godzilla vs kong is the best one in the monsterverse but what i have to say is that they did my boy mecha godzilla dirty in the monsterverse and they wasted a peak design for that
I think that they made GMK Ghidorah look so small and weak is to make Godzilla look way more intimidating. Since GMK Ghidorah is a good guy in GMK and Godzilla was the villain. Which if you ask me, was done pretty well.
These are just Godzilla monsters, not Godzilla himself. I might do that eventually, but this was just focusing on the monsters other than Godzilla in the franchise.
People saying that "Skar King should be in the top ten! why is he so low? Skar King is the best monster!" NO! Out of all the things I disagree with this list, the ranking for Skar King is something I %101 agree with. He lacks any proper lighting and textures making him stand out in a bad way. in some scenes (specifically the final battle) he deadass looks photoshoped! he's also incredibly week and pathetic. I get that that's his entire point that he's only powerful while mind-controlling Shimo, but Skar King is the main villain of GXK so he should be, at least intimidating, which, he's not. The only thing that's effective about this orangutan is his introduction. but he doesn't live up to his introduction. Skar King has a similar problem to Alduin from Skyrim, where his introduction is great and effective, but he's a little bitch after that. Honestly putting him in 49th place is being generous; I'd rank him near the bottom.

Nice video. But where's Shimo, the hollow earth kaiju, the KOTM kaiju, the giant octopus, Showa Era Baragon, Modified Gigan, Final Wars Mothra, Gigan Rex, Mechani-Kong, Shin Godzilla, or the Singular Point Kaiju? (Just to name a few)
There were certain monsters I either missed or skipped on purpose due to them not fitting in the script. I was planning on adding Shimo but I didn't due to lack of footage and not wanting to spoil the movie for anyone. I also planned on adding other monsters like scylla, behemoth, varan, and baragon but as I said previously they didn't fit in. There were some monsters I just forgot like Mothra final wars and the giant octopus. But Mechani Kong is not a godzilla monster, and singular point is a series, not a godzilla film. This list only considers the godzilla films.
@@DOOMZILLA2-f3b SpaceGodzilla is much stronger than Godzilla, with Godzilla being completely unaffected by his own atomic breath being reflected back at him. But SpaceGodzilla's laser was able to knock him down and out multiple times. MechaGodzilla 2 when faced with a stronger version of Godzilla's atomic breath was defeated after a few blasts. Moguera on the other hand handled a ton of direct blasts with him only being stunned or knocked down after multiple hits. But he was able to recover each time. SpaceGodzilla's durability is also shown when Moguera shoots all of his lasers into SpaceGodzilla's back. Yet despite this blast mostly hitting SpaceGodzilla it knocked Godzilla out for 2 whole minutes, which is something no other monster was able to do even with a direct hit to Godzilla, and SpaceGodzilla wasn't even affected by this attack. Moguera is a better version of MechaGodzilla 2 in every way.
@@GSTE_ I know, but it feels weird to put Destoroyah's crab form higher than him. Considering that SpaceGodzilla is one of the most powerful monsters in the entire franchise and has more creative abilities than basically every original from the MV and the Millenium era, combined. Don't get me wrong, Destoroyah's crab form is cool, but higher then SpaceGodzilla?
@@DOOMZILLA2-f3b Well it's the same reason I put the Godzillasaurus pretty high as well. I don't necessarily think he is one of the best monsters in general, but he was done very well. I think Destoroyah's crab form was done better than most monsters. It's basically the Kamakuras but more modern and creative.
@@GSTE_ True, but anything is more creative then the Kamakuras. and I think that SpaceGodzilla was done great for what the film gave him with. and there are plenty other monsters done well better than Destoroyah's crab form. Like Minya. Why isn't he higher on the list? Sure his design is awful, but the good story and well-developed characters traits more than make up for it, yet he is literally near the bottom of the list. Sure the Destoroyah's crab was done well for creating tension but that's literally about it. They don't really add much to the story outside of a few small things here and there. Yet SpaceGodzilla is the entire point of Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla. without him, there wouldn't be a movie, and I would argue that SpaceGodzilla was done better than a few of monsters that were ranked higher than him. Including Moguera and Destotoyah's crab form. His powers are nearly on the same level as Perfect Destoroyah. Destoroyah takes the edge slightly, but it's pretty close. SpaceGodzilla's beam was able to not just hurt Godzilla, but literally knock him down, while Godzilla barely flinched when his Beam was fired back at him, and heisei Godzilla has one of the most powerful beams in the franchise. Another impressive feat was him able to pick Moguera up with the end of his tail and throw him effortlessly. and Moguera's pretty heavy too. And Moguera fired a beam powerful enough to knock out Godzilla while SpaceGodzilla was in front of the beam and barely flinched. Just saying, I think SpaceGodzilla should at least have spots swapped with a bunch of crabs.
@@sillygoofygoober74 Most of the animation in Godzilla x Kong is poorly animated and doesn't have good lighting. Godzilla vs Kong 2021 is a perfect comparison with the monsters having correct lighting on their skin for almost every scene, and the monsters having engrained details in their skin or fur. And the movements of the monsters feel natural due to having realistic muscle movements and reactions. The male muto isn't very creative, it's just basically cloverfield but a different color and smaller head. This is not a creative monster unlike the skull crawler or some other monsterverse monsters.
I don't think shin ghidorah is in a godzilla film. And since I haven't seen anything from him except the design, I couldn't really give you a decent answer.
Space-Godzilla and Heisei Mecha-Godzilla are very well placed, imo. I'm glad my two favorite Hesei designs got the proper recognition. Edit: Baby-Godzilla, too! Yes! I really wish they'd kept him for one more film.
Like I said in the vid, Skar king is not a very good villain, his animation and movement is done very poorly, and he's just not a very good monster. Also like I said, Minilla has a big part in the film, which I think was done pretty well. But I agree about Zilla jr.
Godzilla is best Godzilla monster! (Especially in the new JP movies like -1 & Shin) Why? Cause even to this day, he can still come off as fresh & original~
Nahh giant condor is number 1 biggest enemy of godzilla and had the best design and abilities trust me fr (This is a joke btw dont kill me mz and dest fans)
5:13 how the flip is scar this low before u put monster zero on to yes he was intimidating but he tried to take over the planet out of instinct but scared tryed it cause he can
For multiple reasons. The main reason being the horrible animation done with Skar king and the film in general, being worse than any of the monsterverse and that's saying something since the series goes back 10 years and there even a tv show with much better animation. The other reason is Skar king was made out to be this powerful monster when he is nothing more than a leader over other monsters. He can't even compete with Kong.
@@GSTE_ firstly they used the least amount of money secondly he is more of a minioulative villain not powerful by himself but he found a way to control the most powerful kaiju which ghidora was frozen by also he has a army alone he is weak but he can use his army and shimo to ovevelm foes like Godzilla I just don’t get why people don’t understand that
@@Mario-s5z3o I completely understand that. But being a leader does not make him a good villain. Also Godzilla x Kong having the "least amount of money" isn't saying much when it's still 133 Million Dollars, while Godzilla vs Kong 2021 was around 155-200 Million. Yet Godzilla vs Kong 2021 looks almost photorealistic throughout the film, with the movements of the monsters being very well animated and giving the monsters weight despite the fact that they move much faster than before. Godzilla x Kong's animation, mainly with Skar king is so bad I didn't think it was real when I saw the trailer. There is no excuse for why the animation is done so poorly. And from what I've seen from the trailers (since I haven't seen Godzilla minus one yet) Godzilla minus one looks much more realistic although it still has it's problems. And Godzilla minus one had a budget of 13 Million dollars. Godzilla vs Kong 2021 is done better in every way, from it's monsters to it's fight scenes. And Kong was quite literally the main character in Godzilla vs Kong 2021. With Kong being one of the hardest things to animate.
4:08 I highly disagree with this one, the raggedy look helps make the idea of being old and on her last legs more convincing, and the marionette is animated beautifully. In my opinion it's only beaten by the Tokyo SOS Mothra. (but you're right about the repeated footage like man)
Although Mothra's wings flap realistically, Mothra does not move up and down close to anything realistic. I would say Mothra 1992's flying is just as realistic due to the unconvincing speed and up and down movement of 1964 mothra. The design can look old, but also be well detailed. This version of mothra does not look well made in any way. The arms moving is the main good thing about the suit. But mothra barely does anything at all and much less than the heisei version.
YOU DARE SAY JET JAGUAR IS SUPERIOR TO MEGALON WHAT IS THIS HERASY. At least neither’s SUPER low down, but I do agree with the “movie makes it hard to take him seriously” part
I think Megalon's design is much better than Jet Jaguar, with it being able to turn it's head and wings. But I feel like Jet Jaguars combat is done better.
The reason gmk ghidorah looks like he is is because the director of the movie wanted to have varan in it. After Toho said that he couldn’t have varan in the movie he changed ghidorahs heads to look like varan
The original Varan looked much better, It's head doesn't look like a rubber toy and is pretty well detailed. Also saying it was supposed to be like something doesn't really mean anything.
Those monsters didn't really play a part in the film except as background monsters. I also didn't add monsters such as showa Baragon, Varan, and others. Mostly because they had too little screen time or just didn't stand out as much as the other monsters.
@GSTE_ ok bit u put Doug when I also think the pink sea dragon should have been in their too cuz it played a role of godzillas Evo, and how does legendary not play I big role?
@@KG_Studios6 I mainly put Doug there because it's a fan favorite that I hear people talk about all the time. Also the lack of footage for certain monsters is a reason why I didn't add some monsters. This list is only Godzilla monsters, not different versions of Godzilla himself.
you forgot shimo, tiamat, drownviper from the new movie. syclla, methusela, behemoth, zilla and varan. I'm still missing alot if you want include the series, animations, comics stuff and others. but base on your list, i assume your list is kaijus from movies only.
I did skip some monsters, either due to the script not fitting them in, or just not having them feel as important as the rest of the monsters. I also missed Battra's first form, which I think had to do with my recording messing up for that part. But yeah I was considering monsters like behemoth and scylla but I ended up cutting them from the list. Also yes this is only from the movies.

Very happy that OG gigan got very high up in the ranking :)
If you want to continue this conversation, I'd be up for it, unless your too busy or something.
The reason that I, and some others, find several of these placements odd is that we don't understand it from a logical stand point, and not because "Oh no my favorite isn't top 10!"
See, just from an open standpoint, like in my case, I'm still confused how anyone can compare Planet Eater Ghidorah and Final Wars Zilla and go "Zilla was better."
Zilla was Ps2 cgi thing that had less than a minute of screentime and got clowned on by Godzilla in like, 5 seconds.
And I'd get if this is all your opinion of like "Well I know Kamacuras has maybe 50 seconds of screentime in Final Wars and gets defeated semi-immediately, but I still prefer him over the monster who has a whole movie about him, kills tons of people and some of the main characters, slowly starts killing Godzilla by taking away one attack of his at a time, nearly destroys the Earth, and has tons of more sceentime because I just think the big Mantis is neat."
Which you know, sure that's your thoughts and that's fine you think what you wanna think thats alll good, but it gets so confusing when you try to apply some contradictory reasoning behind it.
Bro roasted Zilla so hard that he actually looks like a PS2 fighter
I liked seeing king ghidora as a good guy
Your cooking is exquisite, brother. Carry on!
I think you forgot kizzer gadora? From final wars?
It's early in the list.
Channels like these are underated, people need to grow up and realize everyone thinks differently.
@GSTE_ for me manilla is last but it's your opinion.
Yeah, there is only like 12 things I agree with being crappy, I even had to explain my opposites without commenting because of how much I disagree with most.
As a die hard M.O.G.U.E.R.A. fan I feel offended
And as much as I myself have my own thoughts on the flaws of Heisei Mechagodzilla, I say you're going a bit too hard on him
What are you even ranking them on? In all honesty, this is one of if not the least consistent rankings I’ve ever watched. (In the nicest way possible)
I'm ranking them on design, powers, fights, and what they actually do in the films.
I think this list is very consistent.
@@GSTE_ Wait then how come for example Baby Godzilla is Higher than Showa Ghidorah 😭😭

@@GSTE_ I mean, I agree with some things, and godzilla jr is cute and all, but ranking it above scar king or monster X is just weird
@@Veh28 It's perfectly fine to disagree, but what isn't fine is making it seem like a person is wrong for sharing their thoughts on topics like this.

Are you rating the characters based on how they look or how they are and what they do
I'm basing it on a lot of things. The monster's design, the quality of their design or animation, their fights, and what they actually do in the film.
@@GSTE_ Oh ok that Makes sense Thanks for Explaining.
@@strivvy6852 Judging by the tone of the last film I don't think the film makers could do the monster or message justice.
16:05 Holy I forgot he did all that... Destoroyah can annihilate an entire city in a flick.
I disagree alot with this list but everyone has opinions.

Also I know as a fact that monsterverse rodan and monsterverse ghidorah are the best incarnations of them, the others just look rubbery and like a puppet and costume rather than a living monster, which is in part due to the fact they aren’t made with cgi, also your defiantly are a heisei simp.
I showed exactly what I said. The animation lacks engrained details, proper lighting, or weight.
It's not hard to see when Skar king literally looks like he's photoshopped into certain scenes, such as the city fights.

What about Zilla 1998, Monsterverse Godzilla, Minus One, GMK Godzilla, Millenium Godzilla, 1954 Godzilla, etc?

@@GSTE_ I think that he's saying that because he IS megalon
The reason gmk ghidorah looks like he is is because the director of the movie wanted to have varan in it. After Toho said that he couldn’t have varan in the movie he changed ghidorahs heads to look like varan
The original Varan looked much better, It's head doesn't look like a rubber toy and is pretty well detailed.
Also saying it was supposed to be like something doesn't really mean anything.
Wheres Godzilla legendary godzilla or all the kijus that bow down to him in king of the monsters
@GSTE_ ok, i understand doug OHHHHHHHH MY MISTAKE
"Places Super Mechagodzilla in 2"
Me: Agreed
THIS COMMENT IS ALL IN MY OPINION YOU DONT HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME JUST THIS COMMENT IS MY OPINION OK
Gigen should be 1 in my opinion
I like gabers and void ghadora
you ain't lying
Not to be that guy, but Mothra! came out in 1961, not 1956.
you forgot shimo, tiamat, drownviper from the new movie. syclla, methusela, behemoth, zilla and varan.
@@GSTE_ cool! you can also rank kaijus from pacific rim and gamera franchise! then rank the jaegers and versions of godziilas and gameras!
@@redswordz9131 I don't think I'll be doing any Gamera or non godzilla stuff.
Not a big fan of scar king but lmao & GMK got taken out back and shot, This list woke up & chose violence.
Baragon is good, but I just don't like the other monster designs.
i disagree on skar king being so low, he should atleast be in the top 10s idk why ppl hate him so much
I think I explained my reasons pretty well.
@@GSTE_ I actually agree with you about Skar King. he looks pretty weird in a lot of areas, looking plasticity, and a lot of the time looks like he was photoshoped. the only thing I like about Skar King is his introduction.
This is what recency bias does. There is no way Skar King is in the top ten. you are dreaming.
@@DOOMZILLA2-f3b personnaly hes still a preety good villain. him being "WeAk" or "wEiRd" does not make him a bad villain. ofc this is my opinion you are free to not like him, im just saying
@@EnzooCoolio Okaaay? I mean, it is your opinion, but him being weak absolutely makes him a mid villain. I mean I can kinda see the appeal of Skar King, but top 10?! TOP 10!? there is no DIMENSION where this orangutan is Anyware even NEAR the top 10! so, you think he should be next to DESTOROYAH, Ghidorah, Super MechaGodzilla and Space Godzilla? when all the monsters I listed are an actual threat, two of them even near killing Godzilla, have great designs and leave an impact on you. You think Skar King, who has an okay design, but it's ruined by horrendous lighting that makes him look photoshoped, Is completely weak and needs an Ice bitch for him to win in fights, and doesn't leave that much of an impact, and your gonna tell me that Skar King should be in the top ten next to those guys?
"He's also an incredibly weak monster"
The Kong Godzilla fought : underfed, sedated, just woke up, is done dirty by the plot
The Kong Skar King fought : in his prime, absolutely no nerfs
#justiceforSkarKing
And still gets his ass handed to him. Can you just except that maybe Skar King is weak and overrated
What about shimo?
I didn't add shimo due to not enough footage, plus not wanting to spoil the movie for anyone who had not seen it.
Gabara being my favourite kaiju ever:
Also you missed:
Varan
Shimo
Scylla
Behemoth
Grand ghidorah
