    I'm obsessing over watching old videos about Ita bags

      😁!!! When I original made and posted this, there was little to no
      ita bag options! These days there is a beautiful array of ita bags out there. But this one to this day is still my favorite one I’ve made/owned. I still get lovely compliments when wearing it out in the wild. Thanks for commenting! 👋💖

    This is so cute. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a messenger ita bag, because there's a lack of them online. x

    Not a single star shaped ita bag was in stock this past week of searching, so time to DIY my own :3!! (I have an extremely specific design in mind)

    I was thinking of this as I wasn't super keen on any of the existing bags so much? Love it and got to try it!

    How are your sewing needles so strong that they sew through layers of vinyl and cardboard? Maybe you probably don't remember where you got them but I wanna know!!

      Gabby lol. So these are long hand sewing needles. I believe they are Singer brand. But I’m pretty sure quilting needles would work for this too since they are long and come in different thicknesses too. Next time I go to the fabric store I’ll see if there is other brands or model numbers. =)

    OMG such a good job! I still hang my oins direcly in the fabric of the bag but making another section with fabric and cardboard is better!

    I’ve been looking at these bags for my fursona pin collection and general con bag for furry conventions I attend(im not an anime fan) but wanted to add something;
    If you have super wrinkly vinyl, get warm water, very warm, like a hot shower warm. Submerge tour vinyl until it seems smooth and no hard edges. Take it out and dry it quickly without cooling it too much. Place it under two heaven books or something flat with equal weight on top. Then use the vinyl, yes it will get wrinkled again but if you straighten it it will last much longer and prevent potential tears. I learned this when making kemono style fursuit eyes when I use vinyl(though using bent plastic is better)

    Hi! I love the tutorial and I'm going to try making it, but first I have a few questions. First, do you think if I removed the front pocket from a normal canvas bag I would still have the holes? If so, do you know where I could get a backpack without the pocket? I want to make it in a star shape so it might not cover the holes. Thank you!

      Cecil Ross Hi!! Thank you! About seam ripping a pocket. So it really depends on what the bag you chose and what the fabric material its made out of. If the bag is made out of vinyl, plastic, pleather, leather, or a faux leather of some type. then holes will definitely still be noticeable after seam ripping. Since those happen to be almost all synthetic fabric they aren’t really forgiving. That’s why in my case with my design I made sure the new clear ita bag window considered it to be cut out to make room for the clear vinyl. So the punctured holes wouldn’t be seen since in my case I completely removed it from the bag.
      But if you choose a bag that you want to turn into a ita bag that happens to made of a different material such as canvas, duck cloth, or like a heavy duty fabric that like jansport backpacks are made of, then since those are more natural materials those are more forgiving. So seamripping the pockets off of those will be hardly noticeable if not at all. That being said most ita bags are indeed made from vinyl, plastic, or faux leather fabric materials. Which is great becuase it’s sturdy and holds shape! And is a definite plus to help the durability to the ita bag.
      So my suggestion is if you would like to do a star shape opening window and have the bag construction made from those more sturdy fabric materials (vynil, plastic, faux leather) looking for a bag with no pocket at all would be the best option for you. Places to look for bags, I’d suggest amazon, eBay, or wish. Typically ita bags are small backpacks or messenger bags. So you can use those search words to see what comes up. For example my bag I got from wish for like $10 and I searched holographic mini backpack for mine and I found my choice and fell in love. Lol.
      I hope this helps and I’m excited for ya. Have fun and I hope you get to create something you love. Thanks for watching again btw. =)

    thanks so much for this tutorial!! it was easy to understand and very needed ♡ I'm unsure how I'll be able to seperate the seam so the zipper doesn't get detached but I will try my best +^+)9 I ordered an ita bag online but it's not making in time for the con and now I'm actually excited to do it myself! I'm not sure where to find vinyl though, where did you get yours? Your bag looks really cute by the way!

      mitsouparker Hi!! Aw thank you! So glad you enjoyed watching it. 😊💖
      Ah, yes so when seam ripped the seam where the front panel meets the side seam where your zipper is, I used safety pins to hold in place while I worked on the vinyl design and the slip in pocket for the pin board. Oh yes! I got the clear vinyl from Joanne Fabrics. It’s in the upholstery isle. There should be different gauge thicknesses, but I picked a medium weight. Clear vinyl that wasn’t to soft and melted in my hands but not clear vinyl that wasn’t too hard like cardboard. Something in between is ideal. Hope this info helps! So happy this inspired you to make your own Ita Bag! Have fun making it!!! 💖💖💖💖
