- From the full rehearsal video for the Plush Jazz Rock TV concert production just prior to the release of the Two Against Nature album. Thanks to Warren Weinberg for the original concert rehearsal video, available at • Video
This performance did not make it onto the final version of the concert video. A shame, as it is a very good version where Walter Becker's guitar playing is featured. I always liked the song and wanted this version to be seen.
Rest in peace, Walter, and thank you. - เพลง
Walter always thought he was " outclassed " by the studio musos......he shines brightly here.......RIP.........GREAT VIDEO.....!
Walter is one of the best composers of his generation. Underrated as a guitar and bass player.
This is definitely at the top of my favorite Steely Dan tunes. "Home" is often a person, not a place.
coolest song of them
Certainly "one of the ones." All of Pretzel Logic Re: Twisted is great too. metaltomotown
Tied for my favorite song by Steely Dan (The Fez). Amazing. A shame that people do not make music as they did back then.
You got that right. This song is a masterpiece musical composition that, to be honest, hasn't been matched since 1978. Nobody did it like the Dan.
have you ever tried to look -- I don't think you have
Agreed you gotta look, take off your rose colored glassses
Who is making music as jazzy, soulful, and technically proficient in every way as Steely Dan? I will happily listen.@@etherealenigma9688
Standards are so low nowadays that I don't think Steely Dan would become mainstream as they were in the 70s, too cerebral, dry and sophisticated. A tight groove provided by the late great Ricky Lawson together with Walter's tasty guitar licks weighing in. Superb performance as always.
Agreed 100%. Couldn’t have summed that up better myself. These guys never get old and their incredible sound will always remain apart from any other band (ever!). A band that was always meant to fly below the radar for mainstream (IMO) and definitely unsurpassed IMO.
Its fantastic. When I heard this live...I can't even explain. I left this universe for a few minutes...
@@noogagoose7750 very true..
I’ve seen them numerous times live. Class acts! Nothing but perfection. 🎶💖
Mainstream? They've always been upstream...
Holy moly. Steely NEVER disappoints. Rest in peace, Walter. You're a gem.
Dan is God.
Purdie wasn't there, but the shuffle was well played! Musicianship at it's finest.
23 yrs later their music is just as relevant!! My alll time favorite “The Dan”!!!!
Try almost 50 years old
Aja was released in 1977 try 48 years
The most under rated track on the Aja album
My favorite and I love Deacon Blues.
True.
That and Babylon Sisters from Gaucho. I could listen to the two of them back to back forever.
Best song 🎵 in the entire Aja album 💿
I think this is my favorite song of theirs...
Same thought.
Heard this song for the very first time last night at the met In Philly for the steely dan absolutely normal tour. I was blown away🎶🎹🎵🎶 I closed my eyes the whole song. I was in heaven...
They played it at the Hippodrome in Baltimore a few days prior when we saw them. Easily the best live Dan song I've ever heard.
Outstanding composition, arrangement, and impeccable musicianship!!! There was never been a band like Steely Dan before and there will never be another band like them again.
Pretty much my thoughts GOAT
I’m so thankful that this is not one of those Steely Dan cell phone videos. Thank you so much!
Some of Walter’s best jams on video. True guitar master.
I thought it was some of his best as well.
Like all great artists- their art as an authentic representation of the person. So true here with Walter. Pensive- curious- deep.
So perfect and so beautiful. Possibly my favourite Steely Dan arrangement.
Definitely one of the best live music ever played. 💯
True!!!
RIP Ricky Lawson Drums Cornelius Bumpus Sax Sir Walter Becker

So glad this is available. My son's favorite song. It is one of mine too.
Here in Los Angeles recording Aja but homesick for their native New York (Fagen/Becker) came up with this gem. RIP W.B. AMJ metaltomotown
This is SUCH Classic Music! Long live Donald Fagan! RIP Walter Becker!
fav song by them by far. what a jam
So long, hey thanks Walter.
Never Heard or saw SD restart ever! One Take With Bernie Is the Man.
I worship at the altar of the Dan.
Love the Dan!🎵🎶🎸🎷📯🎺
Missing you Walt 😢

This is so, so good.
Walters Improv … bliss. RIP.

Favorite line in the song!
The lyrics are masterful as is the music
This is my favorite tune.
You can't deny that Walt is awesome. Makes me cry
Beautiful photo Tanya. Same as your beautiful music ❤and Happiness. Thank you for sharing 😊
So wonderful.
Thanks for posting this gem that was often overlooked by songs like Deacon Blues and other classics on Aja. Also appreciate you including the date and venue of this great performance 👍🏽
My pleasure! I like doing this right, like the band.
Fantastic song from a fantastic group of musicians
And very ironic that these guys were known as a “studio” band 😉
(he leans away from the mic to breathe in)
Do this just never let go of our youth it’s coming to an end so we’ve the final moments n member of the Dan play it as much as you can R.I.P. Mr.Walter Becker ☮️📌🎶😇
So tight!
Yep. My favorite Dan tune.❤
That was TIGHT..close to studio cut
Looks like Don has fangs! 😂 Where did they come from??? 😂 Awesome! Love this song so much! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love this!
Underated, you kidding me,masterpiece Chuck and Bernie!!
Who knew Jeff Goldblum could rock so god damn hard
tigerinatrance
You mean Don Corleone?
Hahahaha
JB w/ Canines
Everything, the false start, Sinatra cool, flub guitar 1/3 through, great, swing, just swings, this is the one,to
learn from, for moi, peace.
No Purdie, no party.
I agree but Rickey IS holding it down though!
RIP Rickey too
Nahhh... This party is hard.
For me, the drumming is superb, but the kit sounds a little sharp and crisp. It needs a slightly more muted sound, more woody and dry.
Try the merlot
5:03 those fangs
Did'nt you know he is the Real Vampyre Lestat?
Magic
Pirdie shuffle is so great.
Becker's guitar solo is very confortable.
Sadly, This track never made it to Radio, Why is a gem
Amazing version of this brilliant 👍👍
Go Walter!
Uf!! Que bellezada!
i dont know if anyone else noticed but over the years donald has improved his k9 teeth like a vampire, im just saying its pretty obvious. i still love the music.
I noticed that ……. What the heck is up with that ???
The hip meter just overloaded . . .
They're SO TIGHT! Right in the pocket smh
More
From this concert please
Damn Donalds voice sounds so good on this!!
I just recently discovered that Michael McDonald also shared some studio vocals on the AJA album...
There’s a Classic Albums episode of the making of Aja that’s available on TH-cam and they cover it there. Well worth watching if you’ve not seen it before!
Don is home he s in NYC......
To all the guitar shredders- there is another approach, And Walter shows how its done. Lester Young is smiling somewhere Walter.
Shredding is like drinking a steak shake… this playing is actually enjoying the cut
I would kill to find a recording of this.
Epic - some the lineup that played @ The Gorge in WA State. RIP all those fantastic creative musicians.... Their "footprints in the sand of time" will surely last !
NOT TO SHABBY,TELL THEM I SAID SO..A Voice In The Mall
That's for the post God Bless All Connected with this track
Corona virus mixtape
Amen.
Yacht rock had to start somewhere 🙃
Donald Fagen is a vampire.
dude had vampire fangs!
Aced it
Is there another link for the full concert rehearsal? It looks like the one you have in the description is no longer good
Link still works for me.

@@kell1reilly2 Odd, I am still able to watch the original as of this morning. I did not post the long version that I linked. I am not seeing the notice you are seeing.
I love practically everything I’ve seen of this “concert” made for an album release-yes, I have the DVD-but the changes Donald makes to the phrasing in the chorus of this song do not work for me. They are changes made solely for the sake of changing something, I believe. Too bad, because they distract from a masterpiece of a song. I can see why this one was left off the DVD.
....basically.
Whos playing drums here?
The late Ricky Lawson.
Not "Pretty" Purdie for sure.
Did yall know the Dan wanted Tony Williams for Aja but couldn't get him for one reason or another
tigerinatrance didn’t know that, but it turned out pretty good with Steve Gadd (on the song).
Purdie is good but there is always someone better, remember that people
Name of bass player and guitar player, please?
Chuck Rainey
Jon Harrington
Did Fagen shave his canines?
Even though you guys fought "the man" and made the greatest music ever on the planet.. .you failed...you failed the little guy. The person with little voice and little power. You backed the "man" and his big Corp buddies. But you still have the greatest music ever and I still love you and your music.. I promise...I'm not an extremist so don't call your Garland fuck face on me.
The things some dudes say...
They never performed a song badly…
I was really thinking that Walter was going to phone in the solo like he usually does......But this was different. He actually worked out a good solo that he could play, and then practiced it. Too bad he stepped all over the cool trumpet solo.
RIP Becker it won't be the same but your partner will do you justice
Replacement I want it t i'l continue in your honor
I dont think he stepped all over it at all! There was a cool call and answer thing going on, they complimented each other, to my ear at least! Give it another listen. Especially at 6:20, they all land together and then fiddle about coherently towards an ending that really just works.
Alright Tommy boy, check out Home at Last live 2013 in NYC and check out the solos, especially what he plays at the end of that one, they're totally different than this one but both awesome. He's got way more improvisational skill than you're giving him credit for
Walter part of steely dan but fully an Ax Slinger. Han'l it boy!!!! Oh funny story: in one of the James Bond movies Diamonds Are forever therein is fatured a rather peculiar duo who are hired to do some wet work. They were cast as a couple of gays( not that there's anything wrong with it) of course Sir Sean dispatched them with low key British wit and a rather tasty Bombe. ( the fancy French pastry you Igors ) watch it I found it amusing especially when they held hands after killing a helicopter pilot. Most casual violence and implied sex which is how prefers Bond Movie. Dry even droll funnies then someone dies. Nice...
Buncha nerds
He looks like Freddie Mercury
