    Is there a way to get the script used, maybe with instructions what is needed for it to run properly, without the drone, so you could create your own drone designs for it?
    with taking that drone as a base and remodel it i see the issue of accidentaly removing vital parts needed for it to function correctly, esp if you were to reshape it to a smaller drone design.

      Multiplanetary drone carriers that are self replicating and restock themselves from a fleet of automated mining drones while they get directed back into battle to continue until the entire planet is mined into its bones would be epic until they release star mining Additional content which engages the player mining with advanced materials into the sun while dodging solar flares and enemie Sun Pirates and the Space aliens once warp drives getupgraded and they allow the transition between other stary systems. they could really continue with think kind of gameplay into the ends of the universe! we would be to old to play and there would be a further into the cosmos update.     So you could theoretically make large grid warships that optionally be made into drone ships? Like say frigate typed such as a artillery frigate hanging in the back. A support frigate which would have heavy Point Defence Weapon/Anti Small Craft armament, additional hanger/docking capabilities to support other craft (including drones) and additional manufacturing systems. A heavy frigate with heavy armament, armour and shields (if a shield mod is installed). Many other types and stuff could be created.

    lol even setting the path for every one of my drones, it seems the controller just can't handle more than 4 or 5 of them. 1 out of my 6 xb-2's successfully docked on a carrier with connectors on the sides of the ship spaced 5 apart from each other. The other 5 either nosed in and rammed it, or just smacked the carrier. They followed the pre contact path just fine, but they just can't seem to get it together to dock.

    Can you put the controller on a turret, then put the turret on a large ship? So you can target without moving the carrier.

    hi, i copied all the parts to make my own drone. Everything works except docking, when I give the order it goes to position itself next to me and keeps the docking order infinitely.
    What handles docking? I am looking for a way to find where the problem comes from. (I renamed the connector and group of course).

      You can use a projector instead of copy/paste. A link to the large grid control module is in the description. The setup is exactly the same as with the small grid module.

    Can this work with my drones or other drones from the steam workshop? Also I want to have a kind of bomber ship that has artillery but no smaller weapons. Or a torpedo bomber that shoots missiles and can kamikaze into an enemy ship.

      This can work with any drone that has the AutoPillock script installed (the one from the drone). If you want to setup your own drone you can do that by reverse-engineering of xb-2 as the script was never officialy released.

    Lets say i want to build my own drone how do i put the programming From yours to mine

      There are 3 pb blocks on the drone, you can cut them and paste to yours or copy/paste block names, custom data and the scripts. Rename the gyroscope, remote control, connector and a timer block with it's actions.
      It is very important to place the remote control and main gyro in the correct direction, otherwise your drone maybe flipping upside down or flying sideways.

    Are you able to set a different DOCK and UNDOCK pattern? I am designing a carrier ship where there is an approach path through the front, and a departure point out the sides.

      @@Pro100tv9 Darn. I was trying to make the Tiger's Claw (From Wing Commander) where it has ships enter the runway on the front and exit out the sides. I was hoping to automate fighters landing and departing to form up on the carrier. Know of any scripts that would allow this?

      Perhaps you could achieve that with the Easy Autodocking, it's quite advanced script

      Absolutely, just remember to add all weapons to the default group (I believe the name of that group is coaxial-weapons), and keep the original naming and orientation of the key components - gyro and remote.

      Yes, place the control module on both - your fighter and the carrier, then disable the carrier's module and form up with the fighter. When you'll want to dock the drones disable the module on the fighter and turn on the module on the carrier. Then form up and dock the drones. I think it should work.

      Xb-1 formation script is very possesive and takes control over all gyroscopes. Unfortunately there's not too much space to adjust that. It would not allow the other script to do the job.

      You could use a projector(s) with the bleuprint(s) of the original parts. I think that should work.

      I made it to work by reverse-engineeting the ASF Whornet, for which you can find a link in the description.
      The process is pretty simple, just rename the vital components and it should work.
      Later on you can adjust the forward direction etc. and play with the script settings to adjust the drone to your needs

      Hey @The_Effect, I believe that waypoints are based on the position relative to the connector.
      When the carrier moves the drone will do the movement relative to the carrier and proceed with the docking

    Great video! Quick question, how do you get multiple drones to connect to different connectors. I assumed it was just renaming both the Main and Drone connectors to dockb as an example and recompiling, but that does not seem to work.

      ahh never mind, they all get the same name as its searching for Contains docka. But it doesn't look like you can actually assign a dock to each ship unless I am missing something.

      @@Syngather That's correct, all the connectors should be named docka. The drone does not hookup to the specific connector but you may set a specific landing pattern for each drone (which will help to prevent occasional collisions).

      I think you will be able to change the turrets for modded (remember to change the name as well) but I`m not sure if the modded weapons will work at all.

      Technically it could work, but you'd need a LOT of cameras. Raycasting is also pretty heavy when it comes to calculations

      1. No, that's cheerkin's AutoPillock
      2. You don't need to. The drone uses turrets to get the target's coords, so even if it moves it will still be tracked.

      Hey, yes, all the instructions are in the item description on steam workshop.
      If you want to create your own drone you'd need to do some reverse engineering cuz XB is based on the custom script.

      Yes, you need to setup waypoint for the first drone, the copy/paste or (if in survival) BP it and print. Please note that if you`ll set it up that way, some accidental collisions may occur.

      Without scripts, it's very difficult to do AI-controlled drones. The best you can do is hijack the remote block from an NPC.

      You can either select "pre-contact" (that will disable the AI core of the drone(the thrusters will still be On)) or just group all the drone's thrusters and disable them manually.

      That's a good question. You could add a conveyor sorter behind the drone's connector (replace instead of conveyor part), add preffered filters to it and set "drain all". That would fill the drone with ammunition until it's full.
      Rockets for reloadable rocket launchers would still need to be filled separately due to their size.

      Technically it could but it doesn't have any collision detection so occasional accidents could happen.

      If you change the type o thrust and will keep them above 1500m it should work

    Hey how do we move the green blocks and place them on our ship do we have to use a merger block? I'm in survival and was just wondering if anyone had done this in survival?

      It'd be the best to blueprint green part in creative and then use projector in sirvival or just use a merger if that's more comfortable for you. It can also be placed on a rotor/piston/hinge but it may clang this way.

      This particular drone can't, but cheerkin released a script called "AutoPillock - universal flight automaton" that can do that and much more. You can easily find it on workshop

      It is possible. You could reverse engineer thr xb-2. Remember to place the remote and gyro according to the direction of your ship.

      I don't think there is a limit. I connected 6 at the time and it was still working as expected.

      The setup is exactly the same as the small substitute. You can also place the small module on rotor or connector.

      It should, just remember to recompile the PB blocks after changing thrusters and try to keep it above 1500m so it doesn't hit the ground while orbiting

      I think that scripts are disabled on Xbox

    can you make this drone simpler? from your explanation it seems that this is not a script but a mod, because I am a pure survival player, I only use scripts to do activities. if you copy a block like this it's impossible to use it in survival mode hehe

      You could open it in creative make a blueprint and the print in in survival using projectors instead of copy/paste. It should work
