@SanjayC the code for colourbox isn’t working 🙂
Dude your background setup looks incredible. I know I should be looking at you, but wow. The lighting! The color!
Definitely want the microkorg 2. Looks insane. I had a microkontrol back in the day. Hope to make it down to say hey to you and Dharti!!!
Hey Tony. Thank you! And yes I really hope we get to say hi while we’re in Cali
I'm going to have to get the Korg.
Thank you for the Super Thanks buddy. You are truly the best and so awesome meeting you the other day!
That guitar demo was sooo good !!! More please!
Yeah, I love it! So good!
Yamaha is going to eat Teenage Engineering's lunch all day long with the Seqtrak.
So happy you covered Desolate Guitars... that library is AWESOME
You're the man, Sanjay! I look forward to your videos every week.
I appreciate that! Thanks for coming by all the time!
When it comes to the artist/composer ideas or inspiration may hit them at any moment. Having a portable music making may come in handy. But will it be ample to create everything.....
Do you think you'd like the SEQTRAK, then?
SEQTRAK looks so cool, it's applications are vast and its new to me. Have to learn more about it...
Tactile feedback can’t be replaced, and I think it’s going to be like this forever. It’s the same reason why we still love physical synths even though some plugins can do way more. For what I see going on we’re not talking about replacing the way we used to make music, but finding new ways and tools to express our creativity that will coexist with what we have right now and hopefully enhance everyone’s workflows.
I like the way you put that - as long as its a "tool to express our creativity". Love that!
Great video, @SanjayC! I am totally excited about your NAMM videos, can ´t wait for it!
Mobile producing = The / in future? For those, who wanna produce that free, why should they get limited by other POV or limit themselves? Be free!
I like sitting in my home studio as more as producing outside or on road, but luckily we are all different. This is how inspiration and creativity are working. 💙
Hey Sanjay, I’d really love to see you test out more sampling devices e.g. electron etc. Love your videos! Greetings from Germany
Love to Germany! I have some plans to get into other devices this year...right after NAMM :-D I'll keep your suggestions in mind!
I'm not sure why so many people compare the Yamaha SEQTRAK to the OP-1 where the SEQTRAK is clearly based on the OP-Z ...
The OP-1 is very different from the OP-Z and also a lot more expensive, like more than 4 times as expensive.
Amazing video! Thanks for the freebie! I can’t wait to watch your videos from NAMM! Wish I could attend as well. Maybe next year!
The SeqTrak is more like the OP-Z. Similar price. $399 if you preorder.
Mobile music making is-more or less-the future (and present) for me. I’ve found myself much more productive on the iPad than the Mac. Although this does give me the flexibility of moving between everything from just the iPad to the iPad, audio interface, MIDI controllers, etc. in a desktop setup. And I don’t really prefer tactile or iPad. Sometimes I’m just writing with a Reface or a guitar and the Spark Go. Sometimes I’m working on just the iPad. Sometimes I’m working with a combination. It’s all about having options and using what works in the moment.
Hope the Korg grandstage X will be at NAM Too. Really excited for that one
Thank you, Sanjay, for this week‘s Saturday information. I know, I won‘t buy anything of the mentioned hardware. Mobile hardware is not necessary for me. Looking forward to hearing you with reports from NAMM. Have a nice time there. Regards to Dharti and your pets!
I think Yamaha really ought to have carried on with the QY and RS series of sequencer/romplers.
The QY100 which I have, was released in 1998.
Having a couple more stereo outs, sampling, a higher res screen, bigger rom, in my opinion would have been a good progression.
Fl mobile will get to will get you out your house I love the way you could use the VST desktop app to sink your whole project to your DAW especially with midi
Sanjay I would love to see you review the physical modeling stuff kshmr used in his video with you!
Yeah I loved that stuff too. I need to get me some!
QOTW: I’ve made stuff using the phone - “Club Corona” and “Evening: At the alleyway” are examples of this. I would probably want both: the tactile just for ease of playing and the phone to store and for additional processing. And yes, there will be more portable music making in the future writ large.
Hey Derek. If someone makes the perfect marriage between mobile device and controller - that would be so cool!
so excited pre-ordered the SeqTrak
Woohoo! I can't wait to try it!
Desolate sounds great. I can’t bring myself to derp into the Kontakt ecosystem.
Falling in love with the mackie mobile mix...very mobile indead
Yeah, I like that they made a smaller mixer - I think it will be popular
With no intention to compare them (as we know: time will tell), maybe the KR-11 might for some evolve into something that the Roland TR line became, who knows. I might be mistaken here, but wasn’t one of the original ideas that led to the early TRs that it would be nice to have some drums to practice along to etc.? Sure, the KR and the TR are quite different, but who knows what creative people might use this stuff for in their body of work.
Good morning Sanjay and Dharti!
As for the music making with mobile devices.... I personally prefer physical portable devices, such as the OP-1 or OP-Z... But recording into a tablet or phone DAW while travelling does offer a good compromise.
As for playing, well, I'll always prefer physical devices, but that's me...
As for NAMM, I'm quite excited about all the new gear Korg announced!!! Need a second job to afford all I want to get 😂
Have a great weekend!
Hi Fernando! Do you have one of the TE devices?
☃️☀️ Hey Fernando!!!
@@SanjayC I have the OG OP-1 and OP-Z. Love them little devices!!!
I really like the sounds of Desolate Guitars!!
I see portable music making as more of a interesting side note to try out sometimes.. but until a phone/tablet can achieve everything that a computer, it's not replacing my computer anytime soon..
Did you miss the King Kong Neo and the Kong Opsix MK2?
Cant wait for your NAMM videos! Any live streams?
As for the SEQTRAK, when leaving the most obvious comparison aside, what comes to my mind my old and trusted QY20. Yes, Yamaha has already been in “this game” before people started calling everything a groovebox. And as far as I am concerned, I loved the QY back then: it was limited yet powerful enough to get ideas going (or to the point where there were better dismissed). That’s why I think that the SEQTREK might be worth a second and a third thought, especially when taking the companion app into account. Personally, I love it when I have a device at hand that reminds me more of an instrument than PC or tablet have become for me over the years. I bought a Roland Fantom 0 because of that - and the SEQTRAK might be the more portable version, for obvious reasons. - But calling it “future of mobile music making”? I don’t see that, but what I can see is a broader range of tools that might grow to include stuff that that might work for people that don’t get used to grovebox-ish devices and are more drawn towards something more like the OP-1 … or something more similar to that old QYs.
Sanjay, what happened? Where did your studio monitors go???
How long does the 50 dolars off desolate last for ?
The code will be valid until Jan 27 2024
I'm pretty luke warm on drum machines in general. It's ALWAYS a mistake for live performance, unless your really leaning into some kind of irony... and for practice I really think a metronome is the superior option. Because staying in time is one skill, and knowing where you are in the bar and where the 1 at is a related but different skill which you also need to practice.
Tactile... It's the hardware of phone/tablet production & is still minimalist ...
Hi, would You recommend Seqtrak for a beginner like me, like i am not new to Music in the generic sense, i can write/create Songs/Lyrics/Melodies and know a few Instruments, but haven't done any Music Production ever, i also do not use a Laptop for some Screen prohibition issues, and would be doing everything, if doing anything at all, on my iPhone only, so Please suggest if i can Try Seqtrak?
i am based out of India only, Faridabad in Haryana, to be precise. And would love to give some Beats, Background Music to whatever i have created.
i am trying to learn Garageband alongside as well, but currently not able to get much out of it.
Also, Please do let me know if You think i should be taking or trying some other route as a beginner, rather than going for Yamaha Seqtrak, budget aside.
Thanks,
anant
cool vid sanjay, how do you compare desolate with the guitars on NI komplete 14?
They’re totally different. Desolate is more vibey, emotional, instantly usable especially for cinematic pieces.
Heyy Sanjay! How’s your week been!? ❤
Hey Cameron...Its been good. Looking forward to being at NAMM next week. How about yours?
@@SanjayC I’ve been super busy between school and work, but I’ve got I think 9 songs set for the new year!!
I'd rather use a tactile device. And I'd like it to be one that doesn't requre an app on a separate, more expensive, device for full functionality. Mobile devices are just another tool, they couldn't possibly be THE future of music production.
I hear you. I can't get used to making music on mobile alone...although I guess I'm spoiled by having my everyday studio.
Studio monitors comparison pls :)
Its coming!!
Goodnight from Indonesia
Love to Indonesia!
☀️☃️ Good morning from USA!!!
Sanjay, what mic are you using to voiceover this video?
A Sennheiser MKh 416
glad someone hold the horses with TE... they pricing is ludicrous
Yeah, its time they brought the price of the OP-1 down
Yes! I make music in my car 🚗
Yamaha has seqtrack is getting mad returns apparently keys aren’t working uhhhh
Need a tactile device. No way a mobile phone gives me the feedback I need or inspiration.
Bro what is the controller on your desktop?
Hey Michael. Its not a controller - its the Melbourne Nina synth. Its awesome!
@@SanjayC awesome sir i will check it out
QOTW: Tablets have a bright future for composing. However, I still need a DAW to finish a song.
Nobody would compare the Seqtrak and OP-1, they are nothing alike at all. They would compare it to the OP-Z with which it has tons in common like the buttons on it and the way it works.
👍🏾😃
Hey Barak-Salem...how are you? What's your answer to the question of the week?
Bullshit. Opz? Yeah. Op1f? No way
Absolutely Correct. You are brighter than this YouTubing dope.
